Wouldn't it be great if someone
(hopefully ubisoft) came up with a 'complete' korean era flight sim? I'm imagining a sim that includes flyable Grumman Panthers, Tigercat, Douglas Skyknight, Lavochkin La-9, Yak-9 P , Hawker Sea Fury, Seafire mark 47, F4U5 ,Twin Mustang, Il-10, F-51 as well as the well known protagonists, Mig-15 and F-86

hmmmm sounds good.

I'm gonna email Luthier right now.

I can see it now... based on the Storm of War engine.. a Korea sim, with Migs and Sabres... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/inlove.gif

damn it brewster your image file expired, you suck.

Metatron, there is one in the werks.

And on the 3rd the Oleg did say... let there be Sabres and Migs.
Actually, I haven't seen Oleg give it the nod yet. But I am frequently blind for weeks at a time.

Someone hit the guy with a picture

Both come in Korean colors, but your'e right,
the F-86 by Kirk Ollson is better.

Available as a free download here:
http://www.simviation.com/fs2004military106.htm

Slats and hardwing versions, 26 skins plus a link to a neat sound package.
Seems to work in FSX but I haven't given it a real workout yet.

Is that the Bear Studios MiG-15 for FSX? It has a working gunsight and shoots tracers. I just got it and started using it. Thanks for it the tip on the F-86.

Here's where you can get the MiG:

Got a link for those models? Id like to take them up for a test flight.

Link for the F-86 is under the smaller pics I posted above. The Mig came from the same site.

Trouble with FS9/X is I treat it like a model railroad. Got no idea how the planes should behave in real life, but they sure look pretty going round and round. These two feel right to me, but I'll admit I'm no jet expert.

The Bear Studios MiG-15 is quite an accurate FM. Takes forever to to come unstuck even with 50% fuel, waddles into the sky, starts to get going at medium altitude, and there you can begin to stick her nose up and climb nearly straight up. Hates sharp turns, loops, and rolls. I'm telling ya'll, a Korean fight will be damned interesting. Add too that certain peculiar bangs come from the engine if you get too frisky with your throttle. According to an RAF tac manual I glanced at on MiG vs F-86 tactics, the MiG rules at high altitude in the vertical, but the F-86 has it if it tries to dogfight---the MiG was not a dogfighter at all.

Online F-86 Anton player::
Its just a game. The MiG arcade gamers are cheating playing BnZ in the vertical all the time.

Online F-86 Emil player::
Luthier, please model Pilot Ear Pressure Exhaustion so the MiG players are forced to play realistically instead of BnZ all the time.

Online F-86 Frederich player::
This is the most realistic air combat simulation.

My dog can order pizza, open a tin of beer, and operate a remote control. That's the three "O"s right there, order,open and operate, that are prerequisites under Wiltshire for voting. Not bad for a gun dog who's scared of loud noises eh?

woofiedog...

The 4 droptanks on F-82. Is there a reference to this ability to carry 4 tanks, other than the nonstop "Betty Joe" flight from Hawaii to New York? I need to know. F-82 would be the prime SAC escort fighter deep into Siberia from Chinese bases during the late 40s. There's an F-82 pilot's manual available on CD. I've been thinking of getting it just to find this out for sure.

There are a ton of Korean-era add-ons, and a Korean Campaign was just recently updated if I'm not mistaken.

LEXX_Luthor...It states in the book, Story of the P-51 Fighter, by Robert Gruenhagen.

The outward wing panels housed the 600 gal fuel supply and additional underwing racks could hold dropable fuel tanks that would provide 1045 gals.

I have only the photo of the Betty Joe with such tanks... although one photo on page 140 of the above book shows a P-82 with bombs on the outward racks, rockets on the next two racks and the extra 50 cal pod on a middle rack. Could they add 4 fuel tanks to the four outer racks??? Sorry no direct answer on that.

In three of my books about the P-51's... none tell the exact load for the P-82 of fuel or ordence. Also have... Mustang at War, Roger Freeman and P-51 Mustang by Grinsell/Watanabe.

Range: 1,600 miles
Eight additional .50-caliber machine guns in special center section nacelle
Five rocket-launching racks, carrying five rockets each
Other alternate payload: 7,200 pounds of bombs, photographic nacelle or 2,000-pound torpedo

ShrikeHawk.... I should have stated that there are many addon features for the WoV/WoE/SF series by the Tremendous Community at the above sites... CombatAce/Column5.

The first unit to receive the F9F-6 was VF-32, which converted to the Cougar in November of 1952. However, the Cougar was too late to fly combat sorties in Korea."

Hey Woofiedog, Nice find! I see they also have a Seafire Mk47, Sea Fury, and a Skyraider...oh yeah. I'm trying to find out now if carrier ops are supported.

First Eagles looks very good too. I wonder which of all the products (WoV,WoE) these add-ons go to. Or maybe any of them? Anyway, thanks for the tip!

It would simply have to have F-80 and F-84. These were used extensively for G'attack and interdiction roles. Also, the first Mig kill was done in a Shooting Star!!!!
