Ok thats weird.

I found the new site from News 4 Gamers (PC) but the link I got was the UK version.

So what I thought was weird is that the UK version has a rating of 18+ but yet the US version has a rating of "pending"

Is the Assassins Creed UK version already rated 18 but the US isnt?

I'm thinking that over time Ubisoft will fill the other ones with more body parts and once you combine they together you get the new main assassin.

OK, now I am excited!

I am a bit disappointed the new assassin has got all of his five fingers, though. I loved the missing finger thing. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

@Cas: Don't bother: all you get is what Toxito has already posted. It "identifies" the image you are holding(if you hold it still) and then, as you move the image you can see a mesh of the new assassin's hand: moving the symbol "guides" the mesh, pulling it out "zooms out" etc... Zooming out enough will enable you to see the mesh in colour(pretty cool way to give us info, actually). You can also see he's got a new fancy hidden blade(and all of his fingers), very baroque.

Not sure why. I have it activated via Quick Play and then when I went to the site it asked me to allow ubisoft permission for me to be recorded (webcam/microphone) then when I click the links on the left; it says "activate" but it doesnt show the actual image; just a blank black screen http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I love this. I'm craving to know what's it about, but I love the fact I don't. Great move on this!

I tried the webcam thing, but the website doesn't show anything but black, not sure why it's not working, I turned off my firewall too in case of, but it didn't helped much.

Either way, the teaser is awesome. I loved Da Vinci's works. In case anyone's interested, I looked up the images used in the teaser. ([1] (http://www.leonardo-da-vinci-biography.com/images/da-vinci-drawings-skull.jpg) [2] (http://www.leonardo-da-vinci-biography.com/images/da-vinci-drawings-arm-bones.jpg) [3] (http://www.myartprints.com/kunst/leonardo_da_vinci/study_of_hand.jpg) [4] (http://desibilasypitias.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/leonardo_da_vinci_hands_sketch.jpg) [5] (http://www.flyingmachines.org/davwng2.jpg) [6] (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/17/Vitruvian.jpg)). I got it to work! My printer is broken, so I couldn't print the logo, so I drew it on a piece of paper and held it in front of the camera. Took me 3 tries on the website before I could actually see anything.

Aiming right was rather tricky too, took be a bunch of tries, but here it is:

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee122/RuYi89/validated.jpg

When you aim it correctly, you gotta hold it still so it can 'validate'.
After that, you see a 3D model of an arm, untextured.
If you got it at the correct angle, you see the arm.

Okay, maybe it's not that spectacular, but it's original and it was quite fun to do. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Only works for the first option on the menu, I tried the others but it wouldn't validate me.

It could be Ezio's(sp? >_< ) hand. Considering AC2 is apparently in the 15th century, having Altair in might be an odd stretch. >_> unless Des decides to skip between the two ancestors? or will Desmond even be the "future" character in AC2? <_<

Ok I dont understand the procedure

First off how on earth did you know to put a piece of paper to find out the image? Where did it say that?

Secondly does it matter what kind of paper?
Can it be blank?
Can it be printer paper or does it have to be notebook paper?

Do you hold the paper in front of the webcam or are you supposed to be in it too?

Does it work on "integrated webcams"

I have to open "QuickPlay" which access my built in webcam and I am holding up a blank printing paper but I dont see it saying 'analyzing' or anything

Do I have to close the browser and try again?

FYTJ

@Cas: But it is by moving the image that you move the arm you can see. So in a way, pointing the camera at your screen is counter productive since not only you will have to make both windows smaller and will not see the arm very well a hard time maneuvering the arm...

@Itolman: After the video of Da Vinci's drawings is over there is a logo on screen. Click it. It will give you a pdf of that very logo. Print it.
On the left of the screen where the video was you can see a red box somewhere. Click that. It will ask you if you want to use your camera. Accept. Hold the logo you just printed in front of the camera, try different positions so it's nicely centered and then hold still, it will say "validated". Slowly move the logo around without getting it out of your camera's view and you will see the arm of the new assassin.

ltolman
04-06-2009, 06:25 PM
very cool concept on how to get the image to appear; however I printed off the pdf held it being centered and I didnt see "autenticating" and or "validated" at all

so I give up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So I think the next image will be in the new game informer on 04/16/09. What do you guys think?

josh44007
04-06-2009, 06:44 PM
In the video you can see that the sketches are attempts at revamping the hidden blade, and the vetruvian man (Da'Vincis drawing) if you look closely at the hands you can see markings one has a marking on the wrist maybe a clue to say that the hidden blade is within the body now which would make sense since there is an image of a guy with most of his muscle tissue removed. So the point of this teaser is for the blade so im thinking that when they update a new part of the webcam animus output monitor experience there maybe a new teaser,

as for the game, what can be concluded is a couple things

One Altiar is most likely not coming back if he would it would only be to complete some part of the story of hiding an object or finding one or a clue.

Two, Desmon will be back because they used the animus for the experience so they will probably be using another ancestor.

Three, That we will be in Europe around the 15th century either in Venice or France, milan or florence maybe. but Europe being so close may allow for several locations.
The only reason Venice, Milan, or Florence would be more likely is due to the fashioning of the blade such intrinsic art work was more the fashion of the french or italians, the slighlty ruffled cuff we can see the shirt fashioned in a way that was popular during the renaisance period.

AC1 we found out in the end and through the game that effectivly the scientists are Illuminaty, and considering the Illuminaty by all accounts known was part of a secret sect of the freemasons during this period. So AC2 is open to many possible story lines really the game looks like it will follow the growth to modern day (desmon modern day).

something else to speculate on is the women who puts you in the animus in AC1 we know she is connected with the assassins, and those who saw the comic strip the strip points to a break out of the Animus building,

either way this will be an exceptionaly exciting game, i will be somewhat disapointed that we leave ancient history behind if it does move away from altiar completely but also interested in all secret society history they will attempt to bring back up or how they will potray that portion of history, also because this period in time there was still alot of controversy abotu science and the church made it to be devil worship so AC2 has so many possibilties the most we will be able to get from putting the assassin together will be that maybe a rough period and place due to his fashion.

thank you for letting me rumble on promise i wont do it again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Geez... DaVinci Code much? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif It's definitely Italy, imo, for the various reasons already listed on this thread. There's too much going on already to suggest otherwise. I like the observation about the sword possibly being implanted. Maybe Desmond has one now too that he doesn't even know about. O.O Woah. I just blew my own mind. XD

I think we can safely say that Altair is out of the picture for the time being because he is of no more use. I also think that the reason for the finger being intact could lie with the extreme nature of existence back when Altair was around. People did all manners of things to better their "art." It may not have been to prevent marriage or...anything, really, besides sluggish release of the blade or an injury preventing the assassination to go smoothly...if such a thing can be said of assassinations...In other words, necessity is the mother of all invention. Ezio could have the blade implanted as an expedient, sure fire, unobtrusive, and less dangerous (to himself) alternative to the out-of-body blade.

FYTJ
04-06-2009, 10:13 PM
See, I don't really agree with that...

It has already been suggested that, because on the drawings the men are always missing flesh and skin, the hidden blade might be implanted.

But I don't think that this would have been possible at that time. Geez, I'm not even sure it is possible nowadays!

No, I think the very simple reason why flesh is missing is because it was Da Vinci's style. He would draw people like that to analyze anatomy which was a very new thing at the time.
It's not like his drawings had to be heavily altered for the artwork and flesh removed etc...
The very originals(without any hidden blades, obviously) already looked like that.

This all being said, DaVinci didn't choose the way that Ubi put the pictures together, they weren't originally all together like that. They may have chosen that shot of the arm for a reason. It was a separate picture when it was drawn...

ALSO, I think what was/is possible should be rethought. A lot of this stuff has seemed kind of unreal, but it happens in the game. To cut open an arm and do some freaky stuff with a blade is not beyond the realm of realism for me. The renaissance was THE time for innovation like that, as everyone was experimenting with all kinds of science, math, and art. The Vetruvian Man shouldn't have blades...unless there is something that provides them to be in existence when he is in the nude.

TheChrispy1
04-06-2009, 11:04 PM
It does look like the blade is implanted, or attached to bone. though i don't see how it might work with all 5 fingers.

This is completely off the subject of implanting sharp objects and complex mechanisms in a person's limb, but I think that having AC2 taking place in the Renaissance would be kind of a disappointment to me, because, after Desmond was kidnapped by the Templars, and Lucy is trying to get you out along with the other assassins in her emails (possibly Desmond's parents) and then he discovers all this stuff about his ancestor, and the Templar treasure, he's stuck in the place and he knows he's screwed, and then he inherits his ancestor's sixth sense, Eagle Vision, and discovers the bloody characters written on the floors and walls of the Animus room and the bedroom, from previous subjects slipping into a state of semiunconsciousness and being unable to tell their life from the ascendants and inscribing all manner of characters on the surfaces of this place. And then, BAM, cliffhanger!! I think it would be most interesting if in the sequel, Desmond inherits Altair's awesome assassin skills, from playing in the Animus for so long, or when the other assassins come to rescue him from the Abstergo Research Facility, and his parents are part of the rescue team, along with Lucy, and they teach Desmond all sorts of nifty moves, and the ancient arts of the Assassins. And the rest of the game is about stopping the Abstergo Templars from recovering the ancient artifacts and taking over the world. Because whatever the Assassins did in the Renaissance, French Revolution, whatever you guys were talking about, it obviously didn't stop the Templars from capturing one of the descendants of the Master Assassin, and finding the Templar treasure.. They found all of them, and only two were at the floor of an ocean.

If it's not Desmond, or Altair in the second one, and if the second doesn't answer the questions at the end of the first one. A third would probably go back to Desmond and tie both of them together as well as answer the questions at the end of the first. it would be slightly disappointing to not have any of those questions answered in the second one though.

(thanks again FYTJ!! *bow to the masta, bow to the masta*) Also, another thought: People have wondered about the new blade concept. To look at it, it looks like the end of a sword (judging by width and all) To remember, Altair had his finger removed because his blade was more of a spike, not quite as round but definately not the width of a sword blade at the time. And personaly I don't see the whole 'implant' thing either. Spring loaded on muscle contraction mayhaps (like the old Spider-man web spinners.) But I'm at work, so I need to get back to it... hehehe

At the end of AC manny people were a bit dissapointed, because they just saw a wall with a lot of things paited on it. After the webcam maybe there is another riddle concealed in the post game of part 1. I can't see how Ubisoft COULD NOT have left an connection between multiple mysteries in the same series.
Mfrags are
EFBUI DEATH
IFSP HERO
VQHSBEF UPGRADE
BOBUPNZ ANATOMY
GMZ FLY
But do they say something about what you have to put in or get out?

I'm just wondering what are the wings for ?
I mean are they going to make Ezio fly or something ?
I can bet the 5th frag is going to show off Ezio with wings tied to his back 'Icarus' style.

About the flying thing, in the teaser right before the Venusian man, you can see the drawings of half a mechanical wing. I'm guessing FLY relates to that.

And what's that about Desmond not being in AC2?

Why are you assuming Altair was his only ancestor? It is very possible that Ezio is yet another ancestor of Desmond.

Okay firstly, woke up today and found all this new stuff on assassins creed 2!!!! i actually cant believe it the wait is over!!
anyway
my thoughts are irrelevent seen as all of you have thought what i have thought however i def think that "wings" will be a new feature, a mechinim of a kind in which our new assassin will be able to scout out a kill and then swoop in an out.

i just cant get over how cool all of this is!!
finally though i just want to add, ubisoft, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let the game also be at night. Would be so cool, i can picture it all, wings, double blades in the light of the moon, what do you guys think is gonna be released on the 16th???????????

On the 16th of April?! Don't give it much of a chance lol. Isn't Game Informer some sort of magazine that has a new issue on the 16th?

Either way, I think it's the date we'll find out more.

hmm i agree, i posted a post in another thread exmplaining i doubt its a symbol or anything,as why release the abilityto view the other 4 symbols? so people could investigate and find the others ahead of a release date?
dont think so, if ubisoft do, thats sucks, so fingers crossed, trailer or something http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

DEATH
HERO
UPGRADE
ANATOMY
FLY

Here's my thought on the cyphers. Something to do with the "DEATH of a HERO" (Desmond), or in "DEATH" (of Desmond), a new "HERO" rises (Ezio). And with the new protagonist in the series, there is an "UPGRADE" in the "ANATOMY" allowing the ability to "FLY", perhaps glide for brief distances with the use of the glider that's seen in the DaVinci drawing.

Either way, I'm a big fan of the original game (still play it), and have been looking forward to the release of the rest of the series. I don't doubt that whatever time period, location, or storyline they choose, it'll be a phenomenal game.

Is the Assassins Creed UK version already rated 18 but the US isn't?

http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.c...sins-creed-2/teaser/ (http://assassinscreed.uk.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/teaser/) They probably expect it to have a 18+ rating so the already slapped it on. I doubt the BBFC rates products that are about a year away from completion. I say at least a year, because I remember the original AC was announced to be released in early 2006. The names are coded using a +1 shift cypher. Guess they didn't want to discourage too many people

I don't know how to copy them quickly enough but I think the 4th sign is the mechanism for the blade in the blade on the wrist of da vinci's man. and the 4th has something to do with the flying machine.

Perhaps it refers to something that happens at the beginning of the second game, that provides a true ending to the first storyline before continuing on. Perhaps a long cutscene, much like the beginning of the first game, to show what's happened to Desmond.

But, I think it's posibility that Desmond could be killed off.

Somehow I think the "FLY" thing will only be the leap of faith. At least I hope it will:
Da Vinci's flying machines ended up not working so making them work all the sudden and making us assassinate using them(how inconspicuous, nobody will notice you! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ) - it would just be too unrealistic.

They tried very hard to make Assassin's Creed realistic so it wouldn't be mistaken for a fantasy game.

Taking away too much realism from the game(surgically implanting the hidden blade in the assassin's arm which would require huge knowledge about neuroscience that we barely have even today! And making the new assassin actually fly around in the sky with a machine or wings) might just put me off, honestly...
It would end up looking like the Red Hot Chili Pepper's Californication (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=6925094&searchid=2d4c6596-5707-4688-840a-4661a15240fb)(4 min in the clip, Frusciante uses that very machine).

Hmmmm...very interesting and valid points (and quite an amusing reference at the end)

I also hope that they continue to include the Leap of Faith. I remember the first time doing that, was such a thrill. And it would make sense to continue this skill through the series, as it was such a prominent and successful feature.

After considering what you've said, I'm back to wondering what the hell that wing is about?!

I guess time will tell.

I just had a thought that, to be quite honest, hurt my head.

And I apologize if this has already been brought up, I'm relatively new to these forums.

It's understood that Desmond is not the first person to be used in the Animus. So perhaps AC2 will be following the storyline of one of his predecessors?

Think about it, when they had Desmond in the Animus, they had to start at an earlier memory and move from there. Logically, if they're looking for an artifact, they'd start with a decendant of someone further along in history. Someone that may have been the last person to see the artifact. So perhaps the main storyline/gameplay will be further along in the timeline, but the story arc in the future would actually pre-date Desmond.

See what I mean? I've just gone cross-eyed thinking about it. God, they could go so many ways with this series. I get more and more excited as I think about it.

No. It is a science-fiction (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction)-y game but definitely NOT a fantasy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fantasy_genre) game.
Oblivion is a fantasy game, for example.

Do you see the difference now?

And flying with wings, I'm sorry, but that's just more fantasy than it is science fiction. It just does not seem to "fit" in the Assassin's Creed world.

i think everyones forgetting that in the trailer, it shows the da vinvci image with a contraption of wings next to it. fair enough, the fly term could be related to altier or other coincidences, but i firmly think thta with the symbols showing us new features in the game, and the last onje being possibly the best new feauture of all, why have an ant climax? plus all the symbol iamges are like upgrades in a way, new blade, new suit, double blades etc
just a thought
whatever it is, its gonna be cool.
speaking of symbols, anyone had any luck with 4,5, ive been thinking all day and cant come up with anything

I knew the difference already, and I actually thought about that before to post knowing that I could specify better. Still, the Animus is Science Fiction, the Artifacts a little bit more Fantasy to me. Well, I actually forgot where they come from. Religion is an illusion so what are they? Alien technology? I really don't know.

Mechanical flying wings are definitively not fantasy. They are real nowdays. Not the implanted ones, sure. My idea is that Ezio or whatever will be called instead of doing the "jump of faith" will have the opportunity to use mechanical wings to fly to other buildings. From my point of view they are more realistic than the hell of a free-climber Altair is.

Anyway, I'm not really interested in the scientific aspect of the game. I like more the philosophical/historical background together with the great environment to explore. And the game play sure. As long as AC2 won't be repetitive like the first one. That has been a real shame.

I'm sorry but I can't help but giggle at the thought of an assassin flying around with nice shiny white wings. I mean, this is just getting too much into fantasy and, honestly, pretty ridiculous if you consider how dark and down to earth the Assassin's Creed world is.

The Animus is science fiction meaning it does not exist, obviously, but in the world it exists a scientific explanation is given for it. Not a magical one. It is not fantasy.

As for the religious part: Assassin's Creed is not over. The game hasn't given us a logical explanation for religion and the Piece of Eden but that's normal: if it did, what would the other two games be about? Wait and see, I say. Wait and see.

If to you Assassin's Creed was a fantasy game, then I'm sorry to tell you, my friend that

http://nickthrolson.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/bush_doing_it_wrong.jpg

Jade Raymond stated herself in the dev diaries (that could be seen on the old page) that Assassin's Creed was not intended to be a fantasy game and that it was exactly what they were avoiding.

I wrote that the Animus is Science Fiction. And trust me, there is no such "scientific" explanation for it. DNA's memory is as true as the card reading or astrology. Or reincarnation in a way if you prefer. In other words.. It's superstition. Which is close to a fantasy. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

About you giggling at an assassin flying around... well, it wasn't my choice. I wasn't the one putting a teasing trailer showing wings. I just gave my opinion on that. We'll know better after the 5th memory fragment will be cracked.

Still, Ubisoft is better make a good explanation about the origin of the Artifacts at the end of the trilogy. Because right now they make no sense. Since you seem to care so much about this fantasy/science fiction distinction you're the one that may end up very disappointed. Personally I don't care too much, as long as the games will be fun to play.

Nice observation! But, I noticed something else that kind of mirrors your finding.

In comparison, the AC2 vitruvian man has no....tallywacker. Maybe that's why he has all 5 fingers? They decided that if you really wanted to be an assassin (and to increase flexibility), they'd take "something else". *shudders*

Since you seem to care so much about this fantasy/science fiction distinction you're the one that may end up very disappointed.
Trying to get personal, are we?
You were doing very well up to this point. Getting personal however will not get you to convince me of anything at all, you know... I just don't see what you were trying to achieve with that sentence, what your point was. But anyway.

Personally I don't care too much, as long as the games will be fun to play.
And that's exactly the type of gamer I am not.
It's not all about gameplay. Not anymore: games are art. And art is a whole. Gameplay can be as good as you want; if the story is bad, the game might very well be bad.
Flying around Venice or Florence might be fun in a gameplay-way but that might just kill the story if it is unfitting and thus the game.
Art is a whole. Good games are a whole.
But again, that's just my opinion. You're free not to consider games art.

It's superstition. Which is close to a fantasy.
1) It's not superstition (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/superstition) at all. You used the wrong word. Superstitions are popular irrational beliefs and known by everybody for example: it is a superstition that breaking a mirror is bad luck.
What does the animus have to do with all that? And how is superstition fantasy? The kind of fantasy we two are talking about is a genre in movies, games, books etc... Don't mix things up.
2) The animus is science fiction, no matter how you might feel about it: by definition it is science fiction and personal opinions do not change definitions. I cannot make yellow be red just because I personally feel like it is "close to red". Period.

Can you prove genetic memory is completely impossible in the future? No. Although I do not believe it will be possible either, you can always speculate about the future.

The past is the past, though, and the past is over.
This does of course not mean you cannot speculate about the past. I mean, after all, this is a game and you can make up whatever you like in a game. But speculating about the past that is over is less realistic than speculating about the future that has yet to come. And this is not just any fantasy game: this is Assassin's Creed. It has a predecessor and thus it's own style
Flying around in the Renaissance with wings just seems unfitting for the Assassin's Creed style to me.
Genetic Memory fits perfectly in the Assassin's Creed concept, though. (Duh. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )

Personally I still find genetic memory in the future more realistic than flying around with wooden wings in the past but that's just my opinion and you're free to disagree with me.
And this conversation was not about whether or not wings will be featured in the new game(unfortunately, we have no power over that) but whether or not it would be a good thing if they are featured which is why I stated that if you can indeed fly around just like that in the new game I want Jade Raymond back: I personally think it is unfitting. Just like I think implanting the hidden blade in the assassin's arm is unfitting.

It was an enriching conversation; I exposed my points, you exposed yours and to me that's it. I still think wings would be unrealistic for reasons that I have already stated and that's it.
You can still think they are realistic and I can giggle at the thought all I want.

(And two posts in a row are considered double posting. Even if you want to reply to several people.)

@Itolman: Are you sure you held it there for long enough? It could also have something to do with your cookies... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

A friend and I have been discussing the teaser and the posts already left in the thread and would like to let you in on a few of our own ideas:

An inquisitor...inquises: The period at which AC2 seems to be taking place is during the lifetime of our old friend Leonardo. With religion being THE major factor in AC, the setting having moved to Europe and the change of era, my friend instantly blurted out "Spanish Inquisition", now I know it's far-fetched but look at AC, it wasn't contained to one area, perhaps the Inquisition are present and accounted for as agents of the Templars in one of the other, possibly Spanish or French cities that we may encounter.

The Eagle and the Apple: "DEATH HERO" now, magic having spontaneously been vomited into the spectrum at the end of AC could it not be possible that the eagle (old Alty) used the apple (...kinda obvious) to cheat death? Possibly Al is present in AC2, with the huge plot twist at the end of AC and the new mention of "DEATH" and "HERO" this seems quite possible.

Eagle's Flight: Leonardo's wings can be seen in the teaser.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6982/wingzorz.jpg

Now it is highly unlikely that you suddenly become some kind of raptor swooping in on assassination targets and flying off to your big assassiny roost in the dessert, but the diving from viewpoints aspect would be seriously improved for instance if instead of jumping down into a haystack in a city filled with beautiful masonry you glided promptly down to the nearest ornate rooftop. This would especially seem relevant seeing as both Leonardo and the previously announced ability to swim suggest possibly a Venician setting as, in Venice, I distinctly recall boats randomly filled with hay waiting to be moved to the nearest seahorse stable.
There is however a second argument for flight, with the magical artefacts existing, perhaps the aim of AC2 is to obtain an artefact that will make the flying machine work, the schematics we have for them today suggest them not working but what if there was to be a missing piece?

Augmentation: Now, sorry to have to put this bluntly but anyone who says the new hidden blade(s) isn't surgically implanted can go suck a big... thing that silly people suck.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/410/boneyzorz.jpg

It's clearly grafted to the bone as you can see in the red box, now anyone that argues this is technologically and medically beyond the civilisations of this period is also suggesting it to be fact that the magical Piece of Eden exists. You can't discredit something in plain sight now can you?

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/6673/skingraftzorzr.jpg

Here is a second example of possible surgical enhancement, as you can see in the red box, the skin seems to be somehow stretched, perhaps this is where the blade lingers beneath the skin? Perhaps in this game the hidden blade is only used for select assassinations and then the non-lethal wound it causes is left to heal before the next contract. Another point to back up this is in Leonardo's original Vitruvian Man, in which a male nude figure is depicted, this poses the question if the man is naked then why is the blade still visible?

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/5357/nakedzorz.jpg

Multiple Blades: A second more likely hypothesis is that of the second hidden blade, this blade could have been surgically implanted in case of capture, as can be seen in the highlighted areas of the double-bladed version of the Vitruvian Man below there are two blades visible, but they are NOT symmetrical, the blade seen on our right is clearly held in place by some for of gauntlet, however, the blade on the left is simply...a blade. Perhaps the second blade could be activated through pushing a pressure spot or a sequence of such spots on the skin in case of capture, a single use escape mechanism and last resort for the assassin.

http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/4628/bladeyf.jpg

Hope you've enjoyed reading and we anxiously await your replies.

Alright, for the last time:
The fleshless drawings were not altered for the game: the originals looked like that already. Geez, if you don't believe me just check it out here (http://www.drawingsofleonardo.org/) and here (http://www.leonardo-da-vinci-biography.com/vitruvian-man-anatomy.html).
So stop citing the fact that flesh is missing on the drawings as proof for surgical implantation of the hidden blade: it could be but then again it could also not be that the hidden blade is implanted. The fact that the drawings are fleshless however are simply no proof for it(since the originals looked like that) and no proof against it(since it could still mean anything).
Other details like unexplained bumps are already better hints.

We have no explanation for the "magical" Piece of Eden yet but we are very likely to get an explanation that's a lot less "magical" during the course of the games. The Piece of Eden being one of the greatest mysteries in the series; why should they give us a good explanation for it right now if they still have two games to put out?
That's just basic marketing.
As long as we don't know what exactly the piece of Eden is and why it is all shiny and stuff(no explanation at all, magical or non-magical, was given for it), we can't claim it is or not magical for sure.

And if it was possible to surgically implant the hidden blade, it was also possible to just brutally remove it in case of capture... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Just picture the scene: Assassin gets captured and stripped off his clothes. Guard asks "Eww, what's with your skin?" Assassin kills guard. Assassin hurts himself in the process (AND probably also gets tons of infections but that's another story), other guards jump on him, open up his arm, take the blade out, let him bleed to death.
Was worth it?
I personally don't think so...

Other questions you guys raise(like "why do you see the two blades on the naked man". and btw: if one is implanted and the other not, why do you see the non-implanted one on the naked man?) are pretty interesting and, although you can dismiss quite a lot of them by just saying "Because Ubisoft need to advertise their game, duh!" but it's no good just automatically assuming that since they could indeed be clues to something bigger... or not. Time will tell.

The Spanish Inquisition theory is interesting and I thought of it too since at the time of the Renaissance, apart from art and science, there wasn't much happening in Italy politically speaking(especially compared to other countries at the time). But if the Spanish Inquisition is going to have any importance in all this, there will certainly be hints for that. Hints that we haven't found yet...

Also I am not completely dismissing the fact that flying and implanted blades will be featured in AC2: I'm stating that I don't agree with them being included in AC2 which is why I would prefer they weren't and which is why I'm not convinced they will. At this point, however, it is really impossible to tell anything for sure. It is impossible for me to tell anything for sure, it is impossible for you to tell anything for sure.
That's normal, it's alright and it's not a reason to get aggressive towards people who don't agree with you.
If you guys have managed to come up with all this you are not blatantly stupid, that's for sure. Why on earth then do you need to be rude to express your opinions?
I mean, come on, you get taken a lot more seriously if you don't tell people who disagree with you to "go suck on a big ...". I don't know what forums you are used to but this is not your average shooter forum full of 14 year olds that don't know what to do with all the excess testosterone they suddenly have.
Let's be respectful towards eachother m'kay?

EDIT: And there's also a bump on the original hands drawing (http://nearyou.ru/vinci/2hands.html). It might intentionally have been enhanced but it might also not. (Thanks to Voland for the picture.)

I think that, like a previous poster in this topic, the implanted blade thing isnt implanted, its just 1500 style of drawing,
they were intrested in the human body and you can see several exampels of that just by opening a history class book.

and i agree with FYTJ that the wing thing would ruin the feel of the game that the original so perfectly build up.

this game will be awsome and the camra thing was a great way to show the game,
great job ubi http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Something I just noticed, and if someone already mentioned this then I apologise, but... take a look at the Vitruvian man's right arm(the lower one). There seems to be an extra sketch there, going over the original drawing, of what could be(or maybe not) the bone structure of a wing? Not necessarily part of the human him/herself, but it could be some sort of machine. or something.

Could be nothing, though. >_>

Hey FYTJ thanks for the reply. We promptly looked at the pictures again and saw that what we were taking for bone on the hidden blade picture was in fact a gap, we were deceived by both the sketchiness of the drawing and the quality of the paper (this realisation promptly followed by the exclamation of "oaw ****") the aggressiveness was inspired by the reviewer Yahtzee (and was simply added for comedic value, no actual aggressiveness implied, hence "..thing that silly people suck") as from the perspective that we were viewing the picture there seemed no possible way that we were wrong, it's like looking at a shape in 3D but transparent apart from edges, you can see it facing at one angle or at another angle and it's hard to change how you perceive it.
We can assure you, no actual offence was meant and our most humble apologies are on offer for any taken, furthermore we would like to ask you not to stereotype the younger members of the male gender, as vBrad is 15 and Walshmyster 16.

FYTJ
04-07-2009, 03:33 PM
@VirusBrad: Don't worry, I was not personally offended at all. I just thought you were too smart to expose your points like that and decided you should know that your argumentation is good enough and doesn't need to be supported by rudeness.

I'm not stereotyping young male gamers. I'm merely stereotyping some aggressive, little boys from shooter forums in particular. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif
I mean we all know them, the kind who can't help but write the word "***_got" in every second post they make. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
I wasn't saying you two were any, obviously.
I was just saying people on this forum are not.

And believe me, I know about stereotypes too well...
Guy says to guy: I bought Fallout 3 yesterday and it's too good!
I say: Yeah, it's great, isn't it?
Guy says: But you're a girl. Girls only play Super Princess Peach and The Sims 2... unless they're fat and wear glasses.
(I swear, I was actually once told that. >_< )

As for the implanted blade, we can't know for sure if yes or no the hidden blade will be implanted...
I personally am not convinced by that theory, though. That's all.

@Tela: I see it now. But I doubt it's got any meaning...

I thought that was pretty cool how the hand moves if you moved the image. I don't think I've ever seen that kind of technology. It was almost like you were holding onto a holograph projector or something. Now on another forum I saw there were pictures of the animus system, but he had already had THREE images unlocked, instead of just the one. I think you're all missing an underlying message to all this. Think about how they're giving out pictures, but you have to find out how to get it I think they're going to add more in the way of strategy/planning to AC2. Also thanks FYTJ for the link to the article I hadn't seen that before and the mention of a gun was something a was just thinking about. They can't really add a gun in the 15th century because no self respecting assassin would use a musket the smooth bores never shot the same way once and were more likely to shoot the a guy 20 feet away from your target, and even the drilled bores which controlled the spin and thus the direction a bullet swerved wouldn't always go where you wanted it. I want to be able to assassinate people the way it should be done, with a sniper rifle from 500 yards, but that'll have to wait for the modern times, which probably won't be until AC3. Flying is completely unlikely, gliding I doubt. The blades couldn't be under the skin even with modern technology, but who knows ubi can do what they want it's their game.

Just a comment on the wings. I feel like they may be getting ignored a little. I mean, they're obviously in the trailer, so I think they are most likely going to play a roll in the game. It has already been stated that Leonardo worked on a flying machine, so it falls right into place with all of the theories. I'm not saying you'll necessarily be able to fly in the game. That would be pretty ridiculous in my opinion, but its likely the main character will have a prototype seeing as Leonardo has some personal connection with the assassins. I mean he drew their weapons with his own pictures for crying out loud.

braxton888
04-07-2009, 06:59 PM
They wont add a gun, but as the guy who got glimpses at the trailer, the assassin has a gun. And its not a musket, It's a Bolt Pistol. So yes it is a possibility that they could add a gun. Will they? Of course not, they took the Crossbow out of the first one for a reason, why do you think they'd let us have a gun. But im sure guards and stuff WILL have guns. Which means its harder for us. Plus there will be Disguises in the game. Read Fyjt's site she put up thingy, it told about some guy who caught early glimpse trailer i believe.

Ok so heres where the wings would come in from the game, We all know he's not gonna magicaly pop out of a bottle and ride a magic carpet, he will use the wings as a glider, (if he uses it at all which sounds ridiculous) But think about it, people can hear things, if someone jumps on top of your roof, your gonna hear some noise, a loud thud the usaul. So he probally will use it for more stealthy stuff, to keep him from landing hard when he jumps from a building to a lower one, i think nightime is a great idea, also being able to go inside BUILDING's i cant stress it enough, Be able to go inside a house and having to assinate a person would be hard, and i liek the thought. Im sure every templar doesnt stand around waiting to get killed, waiting for you to come (knowing you will) Im sure they sleep sometime, and im sure that doors actually move and windows open. Why not make this game really hard but really fun, its the ultimate gaming experience. well to me anyway

I'm dead sure the Artefacts will have a significance in this story as the game ended with the Templar's leaving to go on a search for them.
EDIT: As I was looking at the symbols I thought..well maybe if we got any PhotoShop geniuses here, which we probably have by the hundreds,...i dunno see if you can overlap two or all symbols and see if that'll produce anything.

Ah crap, you're right. Hmm...
Well, it wouldn't be so bad if Leaps of Faith were replaced by, like, a ten foot glide to another roof, Batman style, where you would be "hidden". It would only be available from certain jump points, like Leaps of Faith. That's reasonably grounded in reality and not unrealistic for the era. Besides, jumping into the hay carts, although totally badass, was glitchy and pretty unrealistic when you were more than twenty feet up.

Art major here. i am kinda sad that they centered out the *****, its a great artwork and they .. well... centered something that is of great importance in the art world... but the addition of that grail is soooo important.. because its added for a purpose... i can understand takign out a private part so that it is more accessible to all ages but to ADD the grail .. the cup that caught the blood of Christ when crusaded, the cup of a carpenter...

And another thing, now that I think about it, this does remind me of the Piece of Eden, didn't it have symbols on it and stuff? Is there anyone that can open the PC model on their computer and I dunno try them. Also maybe writing some of the stuff that flashes when Ac 1 is loading a city on a white circle against a black background will do something. Well, there is that leather pouch thing-a-mawat on Eizo's back in the Memory Fragment. So, what if the wings (if they're used) fold in and out from that device? Kind of seems like high-technology but that way he wouldn't have to drag an obvious glider around and he could hide easier and such.
I dunno, just a theory.

However, I don't think 2 blades could be considered an upgrade, as I don't see any practicality from that. And its probably just to be symmetrical.

I also tend towards thinking that the wings will have something to do with the new type of leap of faith. There's plenty of time when you have to do them so maybe he can pull the wings out or something. I think we should definitely link the wings to leap of faith from this point on rather than attacking.

@FYTJ:

Let me put in this way: initially mine was a joke. I even put the emoticons. I didn't imagine to get trap into a serious discussion. Not that I mind it. As you wrote it is enriching.

Then I wasn't getting personal. I just didn't see such a big deal out of these wings. Sure, I thought they can be stupid as well when the word "FLY" came out after the wings in the trailer. But I also though that to fly from the high buildings could be fun/useful. Still I may agree. We can do without them as much as we don't need swimming. No swimming in Venice would also be a pure challenge. And both do not fit with a realistic game. As you may see I am not that stubborn.

Games as art. Yes, I like to consider games like that as well. But how many games really reach that point? Ico and Shadow of the Colossus from the same team invested a lot in researching. And beauty. Final Fantasy games. AC did it as well but the Animus makes it really unrealistic. These are just the first coming to my mind. Many others are just fun to play. Like many movies. Even the crappiest ones can give a couple of hours of good entertainment. But sure, if Ubisoft doesn't screw up, AC2 has the potential to become a Masterpiece.

About DNA (human) memory, sorry, but this is a myth. In more technical terms it would mean that the electric impulses of the neuron would constantly modify the DNA pattern/genoma. At list of the sperm and/or eggs. "We are who we were". Yes, I like the idea. As much as I like to believe in ghosts (the spirits of the souls eradicated from the mortal body). Could the 2 concepts even fit together? We have a soul, there is the reincarnation, once we are born again the soul fits into the new body modifying its DNA. Well, unlikely now that I think about it. DNA memory is more like we should have the memories (or the souls) of all our ancestors. Which they are 2^n, where n is the number of the generations before us. There is enough to die for multiple schizophrenia. Not to mention that we should all remember about Adam and Eve, if they ever existed.

Even given that DNA memory does exist, the Animus would be pure Science Fiction. A machine to extract, live and record such memories? C'mon. Not a chance. It's a step above telepathy, mind reading and the likes. Actually I've read a review of AC (I think it was in Gamespot) where a guy was as much upset about the Animus as someone would be about the wings. Maybe more. He probably was a scientist since he just killed the Animus concept.

Said so, wings or not wings, swimming or jumping, I'm still looking forward for AC2. I just wish this time it will be much smarter, with intelligent puzzles instead of repetitive missions looking for info. From the artistic point of view, this has been for me the real let down of AC. "The Da Vinci code" was more intriguing. I named it because AC similarities with the novel are many. I hope you do agree.

EDIT: fixed some grammar. Reading it back it was a little confusing. I wish there was a preview.

sorry sound like a broken record do we have images or have people cracked the 4th and 5th images,

if someone explains how they got the 2nd and 3rd images to get validated maybe some other people can have a go and decrypting.

to the other chatter about the wing its possible its just there to through us off venice isnt a big place a normal person could run from roof to roof let alone a super assassin, (save st marks square) but also Venice was designed by Da Vinci so probaly all ties in with the drawings but also the drawings are sketches and so can be ideas or working material, it looks like someone is trying to better something the blade designs at the start then the blade and on the arm its all sketches like an architect planning a building some things coud just be ideas. personally i find a fully operational wing theory a bit odd just because of the size of venice, but also a glider to assist maybe will be useful at parts of the game but the risk is flying around you will surely at one point in venice fall into the drink so i hope ezio will be able to swim

Why would it come out specifically between "the finger and the thumb"? Just because that's what it looks like in the picture doesn't mean it does.
First: The arm/hand is just drawn like that, nothing else.
Second: In other words he wouldn't be able to move his hand, by your theory.

http://i317.photobucket.com/albums/mm370/monkeybhoy94/hiddenbladewristclue-1.png

If you look at the hidden blades wrist in the teaser trailer there is "Icon" on it similar to my pic so i decided to give it a try, but cant at the moment, so i'd like someone to try it out for me please.

Not anything.
Anyways, When I "scan" it happens that the "box" with "scanning info" turns upside down ..' Does this happen for anyone else too? .. It turns right when I turn the webcam upside down... sometimes this happens... ..'

I have been trying to work on some of the clues to get a few of the symbols recognized. I have one of the website developers at the company I work for and I running a fine toothed comb over the video teaser to find relevant items.

As for ideas in the game, I have to agree with FYTJ that I don't believe the wings would be used as a true flight device. A glider is MAYBE possible, for short, burst flight. But nothing for true lenghty flight.

As for someone pointing out the blade being "Surgically grafted" to human bone, that image does not show a surgical graft, merely the ability for the human arm to arc in different directions.

I am really excited for this new game and to see where they are gonna take the franchise. Let's go run around Europe and kill all those who stand in our way!

But I also though that to fly from the high buildings could be fun/useful. Still I may agree. We can do without them as much as we don't need swimming. No swimming in Venice would also be a pure challenge. And both do not fit with a realistic game. As you may see I am not that stubborn.
You started telling me that if I mind so much I will be disappointed. You're making predictions about my feelings. That's personal. Also there is a tone (a rather arrogant one at that) to this that indicates you are trying to get personal.
And how is swimming unrealistic to the same point flying in the renaissance is?
Do you know many people who can swim? I do. Do you know many people who use flying machines? I don't.

Many others are just fun to play, yes. But Assassin's Creed is not one of those.
Assassin's Creed works as a whole and wouldn't work at all without its story.
I would even say that, due to what ended up being rather repetitive at the end of the game(not that I minded it, actually; I liked doing those things), the story was a little better than the gameplay.
If they mess up the story of Assassin's Creed 2, it will not be "a fun game to play for two hours" even if you can fly in the sky, but more of "a failed attempt at a sequel for Assassin's Creed".

I don't like the use of the word myth here. I know; I am very fussy with words. A myth is "a traditional sacred story, typically revolving around the activities of gods and heroes, which purports to explain a natural phenomenon or cultural practice". The word you were looking for, I believe, is "fabrication".
Of course the Animus is a fabrication. But it is a fabrication in a science fiction world hence why it works in the storyline of Assassin's Creed.
And what you are displaying here is typical for humans: the inability to imagine something you can't explain.
Genetic memory is highly unlikely, even in the future. I agreed with you on that (so I don't see why you are explaining how genetic memory would have to work in order to work...).
But if you would have told the Romans, for example, that one day it will be possible to capture moments, actual real moments with moving people and all that was around them at the moment of capture, and watch them as often as you want - they would have considered this to be impossible, don't you think so? "After a moment has passed it has passed. It's over." And yet, today it is what we do everyday by filming and watching videos.
A lot of the things we have today would seem completely and fundamentally impossible to a person living in the past. So do you get that what awaits humanity in the future may seem completely impossible to us now? Do you understand then why I say that it is more realistic to predict anything about the future than to claim something that did not happen in the past did happen in the past?
This is not even about Assassin's Creed anymore, this is just common sense...

I'm sorry but why do you say this? What do I care about some random guy at gamespot's opinion? It is to you I'm talking, not to him. And it is your opinions I want to hear, not his.
And also: I bet that guy did not bash Half Life or Portal in the same way he bashed Assassin's Creed and yet they are just as much, if not more, unrealistic. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Of course the Animus is Science fiction! I never said it wasn't and it was even me who was maintaining this game was a science fiction game the whole time! And that's the whole point: this is a science fiction game, flying around the renaissance is not a science fiction element.

As a language(and thus literature) student, I can assure you from an objective and informed point of you view that the Da Vinci Code was not a good book. Now, I personally didn't like the story either but even if I had liked it the fact still remains that literary the Da Vinci Code is of little value. Sorry if I burst your bubble, mate. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
And I thought Assassin's Creed was artistically brilliant; the story, the scenery, the architecture, the detail, the animation, the vistas... have not let me down artistically at all.

That's one of the good things about the AC forums, arguments don't usually sink to the level of a war, most of them in here tend to be fairly amicable and reasoned.

I think we all need to calm down. Besides, if you guys look into it, you'll understand the answer is right in front of your eyes.
Personally, I don't know what the fuss is all about.

A - The blade is exterior to Ezio's arm.
B - It's part of Ezio's left hand vambrace.

There is no doubt of this.
To deny this is to ignore the most solid evidence we have received: the teaser's 3D models. If you have a webcam, go to the teaser website and check out the first symbol - "Death". Some people didn't realize, but since these are 3D models you can rotate the angle by tilting your logo (or your webcam). If you tilt it up and down you will rotate the model on a horizontal Axis, and the hand will turn revealing the lower construction of the vambrace. It is CLEAR from that angle that there is a blade extension/retraction mechanism UNDER the arm, as opposed to inside it. The 3D model is fully textured in at least 3 different angles, so it is safe to assume this is final.

If you do not have a webcam, this YouTube video's poster rotated the camera enough to make the mechanism visible between 00:25 and 00:30. It is not my video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...nfcU&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO7DDGAnfcU&feature=related)

Ezio has a retractable hidden blade attached to his gauntlet under his left arm, and that is a fact. We have clear, conclusive evidence.

-----------------

Whether or not he also posesses yet another blade on his right arm ( and whether that one is inside or outside of his body ) is another matter entirely - though I highly doubt it.

Don't give me this crap now, lady. You've been the one starting with the stupid childish "You Fail!" pictures! Go and check page #5. And yes, after that I've got arrogant. What did you expect? Red roses and diamonds? Not a chance. Even because I thought you were a boy. Ladies know better.

Oh, and you're doing it again. My last post was pretty much relaxed. I don't see why you need to jump to the neck like a little tiger. Well, actually a cat.

And swimming with all that metal carried, the monk robe, etc is pretty much unrealistic. I dare you to stay up for longer than 30 seconds.

Really? "myth" doesn't mean only that. Not in my dictionary. Like the Merriam Webster: Merriam Webster (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/myth):

1 a: a usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon b: parable , allegory
2 a: a popular belief or tradition that has grown up around something or someone ; especially : one embodying the ideals and institutions of a society or segment of society <seduced by the American myth of individualism Ś Orde Coombs> b: an unfounded or false notion
3: a person or thing having only an imaginary or unverifiable existence
4: the whole body of myth

Check #3. Miss I-am-fussy-with-words.

Fabrication is what you have in your head. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Indeed... It would be FANTASY, as I said since the beginning! As it is the "Leap of Faith". As it is jumping that far and grabbing a wall carrying all that weight. geeeeshhh! You like to argue for the hell of arguing, don't you? Did I say that the Da Vinci Code is a good book?? I said that it has obvious similarities with AC! And it's entertaining. Knowing about literature you should know about history as well. So, how do you define the presence of the Templars in the modern era? They have been disbanded in 1312. Unless you believe in the Priory of Sion, sure. Or some other secret Templar sect. The same goes with the Hashashins. Do you have any references about them being still present? As far as we know, right now they are legends (now, not at that time). So, Miss Literature, where do Legends fit: in the Fantasy or Science Fiction department? And the Artefacts like the Holy Grail? Mythology maybe? How do you classify mythological games? What? As Fantasy games? NOOO??? Really? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

All this mess just because of few words you didn't like (still being wrong). I saw few posts of yours now, reading the forum. You like to play with the boys. Nothing wrong with that. But please... I think i said it in the other forum for AC2 since the teaser was released, but would anyone mind if they replaced the traveling between cities on horseback with some sort of glider?

Michelasso no offense, but if you really think you can't swim with some swords and a robe on you're probably not a great swimmer, I can swim carrying my sister, and lifeguard training has you tread water while carrying weight for long amounts of time (I don't know how long, I'm not a lifeguard, but one of my friends is and he told me about it I'm not making this up). Also you mentioned that he couldn't climb up on buildings with all his stuff (I think, but you may not have), what we know he's carrying I could pull up onto a building with me, and I'm 15. No really not exaggerating, I'm strong for my age, but that would be easy, and I haven't hat elite assassin training. Not dissing you just saying. This is to FYTJ, and all others debating the possible outcome of this game.

Calm Down, It's only a game.

FYTJ, your responses are ludacris, pure babble.

I was enjoying reading you peeps argue.
But i cant handle your life story. It's boring.

You have myspace and whatever social networking mumbo jumbo for that, why have forum rules.

It would be soo funny if all your predictions are wrong, biased much ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/crackwhip.gif

Its a Forum Feud!!!!!!
Lol, jk
I really like what Michelasso and FYTJ had to say (even though it got a bit overheated) but I just have to say, that instead of arguing, perhaps we could just wait for more info?
I have no problem with debate, its how we learn about people and the way their minds work, their strengths, their weaknesses, how to best make peace with them, how to start a war, what they like, what they don't but I don't want any hate circling through here, please.

@Michelasso
While you had a good argument, Michelasso, (and I'm not trying to seem judgmental, I'm a writer and this is how I learn) you seem to be almost....close-minded?...you know, on the facts, someone who sees with the left side of the brain. Basically like Scully from the X-Files.
(Again, I'm not trying to judge you and if you find this offensive then I am sorry)

@FYTJ
I like your thinking process because it is very similar to mine (which is ironic because I am also a girl gamer). You have an open mind and seem to understand human skepticism and nature. But there's some fire in your attitude (there is nothing wrong with that, if you can direct it in a way that benefits)
Again, I do not mean to be offensive. I read people, that's just what I do. I do not want to start a war. I just don't want negative emotions floating around. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Whoeve is dissing Michael's post about not being able to swim with stuff is bull****, id like to see you swim with a heavy sword, probally a pretty heavy wrist blade, a pretty decent heavy dagger and a whole belt of throwing knives. Plus he isnt just wearing robes, im sure hes wearing some kinda of chainmail underneath, kinda like Link from Zelda. Also You like gain 40 - 50% more weight when your clothes are soaked, So think about it plus his boots have to be some weight to weight him down, not to mention, it may be hard to swim with those boots water traction would be terrible. Plus hes missing a finger :P Idk about you but i usally cup my hands when i swim, he cant. So go suck one :P P.S. We already know to make this game more relistic, they wont make him carry heavy stuff so that he can swim, I just wanna know his weapons, he will be light But deadly.

Uhh...

A - Alta´r never swims. Ezio will, but we don't know how much stuff he will carry.
B - Who said the gauntlet/sword/knife were heavy? Personally I like sword/knife collecting myself, and I can assure there are some very, VERY light swords and knives in the market (real, high-carbon swords).

Besides, Ezio will most likely use a lighter blade, such as rapier(given the time-setting).
You're right: Swimming with boots sucks (I've tried), but it's still not as hard as it looks - I assure you it can still be done.

It's not impossible to swim with his stuff. Sure, you couldn't swim long distances in this manner, but you could certainly stay afloat long enough to get to shore if you fell off a dock (something Alta´r could not for some reason).

I don't know if this was posted or not, but there's a picture of a guy with no skin, and the hidden blade on his wrist, but after the hidden blade, he has a normal (with skin) hand. which is different from the skeleton hand in the teaser trailer.

although i do not like the fact of the wings Ubisoft would have no other reason to put them in the trailer, and look at the new assassins sign, it has a pair of wings above it. there are also more wings to the right of the ventuvian man

i do not think that the new blade will be implanted because as FYTJ pointed out it would have been impractical and what would the point of a new gauntlet be if it was just a fancy wrist band with a surgically implanted blade underneath. doesnt make that much sense.

i think that the drawings of the hands just show where the hidden blade would be placed. and the blade on the skeletal arm of the man seems like a rough prototype seeing as it doesnt look very retractable

just to point this out the first picture of the skull seems to have a blade pointed straight at it as though showing where to stab. There are also a number of different blade styles and the added holy grail turns into the jewel or stone in the center of the wings.

Not really new info, I guess, more like a possible corroboration to what you guys have already explored: according to someone on DA who claims to have a friend who saw the test script (he's apparently a voice actor), Ezio has all his fingers because Da Vinci did indeed invent an upgrade, if you will, for the hidden blade mechanism.

Oh and in the new game the new symbol is an Owl :P Well thats what i think it looks like an Owl and the wings all of it makes sense. to me at least. Still As i said before the wrist blade comes out between the First Finger and the Thumb and yes you can easily move your hand stick a comb there or something besides your not supposed to have full wrist movement with any type of Wrist Blade, They made it taht way on purpose 1. Its meant t just shove it in the guys head you dont need too much wrist movement for that, If you need to keep the guy of of you use your right hand.

Agreed, but i bet they will add the gun in some part of the game. Theyre one shot which makes them pretty ok to have in the game, So it will be Intense, Picture this : Your the assassin your running gaurds are chasing you they shoot at you and you hit up against the wall, You take out your Bolt pistol, peep around and shoot the nearest guy in the face right off the top of the roof. Then you take off, your running you hide, you pull out your Rapier, THe gaurds find you, You swashbuckle lol :P, It will be interesting combat since Rapier's arent meant for such Heavy kills like in teh first one so it will be interesting to see how combat is in this game. I do think the gun part sounds kinda fun. I mean its one shot, reload takes forever so none of the guards are gonna immediately start reloading. They'll grab there swords and come at ya. I actually hope they add a Bolt Pistol, It does make the Game More realistic. Or what if that other hand blade thing isnt a hand blade, what if its like a finger gun or something. Maybe Divinci, made it smaller and simpler to shoot and you can conceal it. Still one shot so we dont totally pwn everyone with bullets
If its more then one shot that ruins the game.

short sword dagger?? you mean a Wasizashi?

if it was in Japan, and following the whole assassin plot, i could almost guarantee you wouldn't be playing as the authority (the samurai) you'd be part of a small league of assassins, like shinobi. playing as a samurai would be like playing as the guards you kill in the first Assassin's Creed.

different topic but did anyone notice how many changes they made to the ventuvian man. besides what everyone found out, the grail, the blade, the thing on HIS right arm, hes also holding a quil in HIS second right arm and his face seems pained in the third animus image

and is there something wrong with "Ezio's" little finger in the first animus image of the gauntlet, it seems disconnected from the rest of the hand or is that just a vein and some shading

Okay, responding to the Vitruvian man's painful face, (this isn't a joke as funny as it may be) but it seems that in the third memory fragment the Vitruvian man has some... Disfigurement? Uhh, downstairs? Idk if thats just some editing, or if it's meant to be a ritual of sorts.

Eizo is Desmond's ancestor in the 15th century. He is an Assassin caught in a family feud.

Apparently during the exclusive presentation, the lucky people who got to go were presented with pictures of several costumes for the main character in AC2 and were told to vote on which one they liked best. Beneath each picture was the name "Eizo" which is Latin for "Like an Eagle."

hey um i was experimenting with new symbols and i made one that used the same center as the HERO symbol but i erased all of the other lines and then drew three other straight lines making the symbol on the hidden blade. it still registered as the HERO. just thought this might help with what characteristics each of the symbols have. the second one is the center 3 hexagons, black white black hexagons

yetichamp
04-08-2009, 11:49 PM
also a helpful hint i thought up about decoding symbols: They CANNOT be symmetrical. The website needs to be able to tell which direction the symbol is facing so it can turn the model too. In order to do this, one side needs to be unique from the other.

There is another symbol that shows the Da Vinci "Vitruvian(sp) man" with double hidden blades. Many people are jumping at the "flying machine" theory since the pic of the early da vinci scematics of his plight machine, but i think that the developers are just simply saying that maybe Da Vinci is the new head of the venice chapter of the brotherhood during the reanisance...

Ok, now I am calm and relaxed:

1. Swimming: our bodies are lighter than water. In the sense that the specific weight of the human body is inferior to the one of the water. If I remember correctly, if the specific weight of water is 1 the one of human body is around 0.9. That's why we float in water and carrying another person doesn't make us sinking. The metal is much, much heavier. Adding a big sword increases the specific weight to a good degree. And would make us sinking. Just apply the Principle of Archimedes, something that we all studied at elementary school. Add a wet robe and you'll understand how it would take a lot of energy to stay up. The only way to verify it is to dress a swimming champion like Altair, with weapons and all, and see if and how he manages to swim.
2. I actually wrote that it's impossible to jump for 5 meters or more with all that weight (wearing a monk robe, again) ending grabbing a wall. The same applies to Lara Croft. They are videogames, no one on Earth can do it.

Then let's forget about that stupid flame war. As all flame wars it was stupid.

It's not fake but it's not as Assassin's Creed puts it.

Genetic memory in a sense does exist. I never claimed otherwise. I think Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetic_memory) has a good article about it. That's how we inherit the somatic characters of our parent/ancestor (like hair/eyes/skin colours, some predisposition to some illnesses and so on). The DNA code in simlistic terms is split and then recombined in a new individual whom will keep many many of the characteristics of the parents (and that's why since ever we have the concept of "same blood").

What does not exist is a mechanism to pass the memories and the experiences of a human being to his/her heir. That has been pretty much proved wrong as it must be. If there was such a thing we should all have memories of the languages our ancestors were speaking, for example. While it's weel known that second generation immigrants speak well their local languages and many do not know the language of the countries the parents are from. This is just an example and we could make any.

Specifically regarding the AC game, the Animus would have a chance to be possible only if the memories and experiences of a hman being are transmitted into his/her DNA, thus modifying it with the time. Even if now I'm not sure if the individual DNA changes with time (but probably not. Still, I am not sure), someone should explain me how the brain activity can make such changes. As far as we know this is simply impossible (please note: this has nothing to do with the fact that keeping a positive attitude can help to prevent some diseases and viceversa. That seems to be true and there is no DNA modification involved).

there's a detail in the "exploded" diagram of the hidden blade which i believe can debunk any speculation that the blade is indeed grafted internally to the bones/muscles of the arm.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.joystiq.com/media/2009/04/animus33333.jpg

looking at the bottom-left most part of that diagram, you can see what looks like straps/belts which would be used to attached the gauntlet after it has been wrapped around the forearm.

i dont know how some people even got the idea that the picture of the hands was supposed to symbolize that the hidden blade was put under the skin... if you look closely the arms aren't bare the person is wearing a sleeve, and what is being shown is more than likely a preassure switch that is inside the sleeve that is the trigger mechanism for the hidden blade

Do we know for certain that Ezio is Desmonds decendant? As told to us in the story of the first game, Desmond was not the first test subject. I have a feeling that this storyline could be one of the previous subjects, and not Desmond.

Or, I could be completely wrong, and the entire series could feature Desmond. I just find it a little difficult to swallow that Desmond had an Assassin decendant in all of these different time periods, rather than a decendant of one important assassin, like Altair.

well the assassins were practically inbred in the way that they were raised, pretty much from the time of birth they are put into training camps and then they will eventually find a wife/husband and have kids... and were do u think those kids go, not to skool, but into training camps, so its pretty logical to say that at least ONE line of ancestors up Desmonds family tree is made up entirely of assassins

I just noticed: On the emails people are getting from Ubisoft, the Vitruvian Man now has a faint outline of wings around him and the fleshless guy with the hidden blade now has flesh on his hand...

http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/4899/maingraphicassassinsmai.png

Previously, the Vitruvian Man only had a slight wing behind his right arm and the guy with the blade had a fleshless hand...

those aren't wings behind the vitruvian man its the renaissance assassins creed symbol, with the feathers to the sides and the ornament behind his head, if you look carefully next to his legs you can make out most of the symbol

This may seem like a dumb question, but I'm a little confused. I see you're all talking about Ezio. I was just wondering who he was and where you heard about him.

Well, they say Desmond came from a long line of Assassins and Eizo is said to resemble Altair a lot.

Eizo is Desmond's ancestor in the 15th century. He is an Assassin caught in a family feud.

Apparently during the exclusive presentation, the lucky people who got to go were presented with pictures of several costumes for the main character in AC2 and were told to vote on which one they liked best. Beneath each picture was the name "Eizo" which is Latin for "Like an Eagle." </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Desmond is from a long line of Assassins and it is said that Eizo strongly resembles Altair.

I tried that last symbol you mentioned and just as you did, I got a verification, but no new content. However for some reason the 3rd one won't work for me. I tried it with a snap shot from my cell phone and then from printing out the jpeg on your site... neither worked. Any suggestions?

I personally received the first and second image in e-mails 3 days apart, but never got the 3rd (yet).

This is all fun though.... feel sorta spy-ish!

In response to the two images of emails people have received from Ubisoft... I got neither of those. I'd like to post the image of mine for dissection, but I'm computer illiterate and can't figure out how. If someone's willing to share their knowledge, I'm more than willing to absorb said knowledge. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

@Coley: Did you get some hands and a wing? If yes then we already know that one! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

@Ravey: Are you sure there is a big enough white margin around the image? Are you holding it right? Try holding it as "parallel" as possible to the webcam: getting the right angle is not always very easy.

@An_idea: I didn't get any at all. Ubi just seems to be sending them randomly.

By following a link from your page, I got this...
3rd symbol (http://static2.cdn.ubi.com/emea/gamesites/assassinscreed/teaser/pdf/uk/symbol-3-print-uk.pdf)

I printed it out and it still won't work.

Also, I noted a difference in the one pictured on your site, and the "Official" pdf version: The PDF version has an Octagon in the center rather than a simple circle. I have no idea if this makes any difference because neither shape produced a result for me.

Perhaps it because I'm not in the UK? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

The third one is actually pretty easy to fluke so I doubt a dot actually being a hexagon will actually chang anything... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm not in the UK either so I doubt that's the problem.

Yeah, the faint wings around him, is the man fading into the new Assassin's Creed symbol, because you can see the "A" under the wings.

the pic from the email with the guy's hand with skin and the arm is de-fleshed, i don't know what it means though.

also, there's a new e-mail with this:

aside from the second symbol at the bottom, there's also the fact that the small circle by the wrist (in the teaser trailer where the bump is) now has a bolder circle with really small symbols in it.

This may be impossible, but I just thought it might be worth a try to decode whatever is in the background of this teaser. There seems to be a lot written back there and knowing how far Ubi has taken "paying attention" with this game, I think it might be smart to check it out.

On the topic of the new man with the extended arm (having flesh), its possible that they may be trying to clear that up for some of us. I'm sure they monitor these forums and it's gotta be hard to not notice the whole "It's grafted to the bone!" "No it's not!" Soooo it's unofficially official now I'd say. It's the same old hidden blade.

Not that most of us didn't figure that out on our own, but I feel there may have still been some stragglers and that Ubi felt that way too.

just thought people would like to know i combined the first and second artifacts together and it still gave me the first, so it seems you just need a hexagon in the middle and then the lines determine which frag it belongs to(to clarify incase of confusion, it was the hexagon bit from the second, the black white black hexagons with the three lines from the first image)

they send them out randomly? weird. So after watching the teaser trailer a lot i kept noticing the glitching that occured making the screen a paler color. But i was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about why the screen stays the same color as the glitching at the end of the teaser trailer

Is there anything to see in the glitches throughout the teaser? It looks like there might be somthing. Can anyone slow the frames and find anything out?

Maybe one of the mods can explain why it excatly eas taken off the forums. Also because most information was now publicly available. Could't they just have closed it if whe breaked any rules? Or put up a warning?

About the article:

Leonardo Da Vinci (1452 - 1519) moved in 1469 to Florence, left it in 1482 to go to Milan. In 1476, he had a workshop in Florence, and in that same year, Leonardo and three other young men were charged with sodomy, and acquitted.
Lorenzo de Medici. The Medici was a very powerful and influential family during the renaissance in Florence. The Medici Bank was one of the most prosperous and most respected institutions in Europe. There are some estimates that the Medici family were the wealthiest family in Europe for a period of time. From this base, they acquired political power initially in Florence and later in wider Italy and Europe.
Niccol˛ Machiavelli, Italian politician and philosopher, famous for his work Il Principe, in which he advises the politicians to use violence when needed. Died 6 weeks after the Sack of Rome in 1527.
Caterina Sforza. At the age of 24, she marries the cousin of Pope Sixtus IV, Girolamo Riario, who is unpopular and has many enemies. He's the man behind the assassination on Lorenzo de Medici in 1478, where his brother, Giuliano de Medici dies.
Most of Da Vinci's drawings for flying machines were created around 1485.

Although the article states AC2 takes place in 1476, I find it more logical that it'll be 1478, seeing how that was the date of the assassination on Lorenzo de Medici.

Last, I saw somewhere on these forums about a piece of text under the logo, which was hard to read. Words with religione and Principe. I haven't looked into it, but perhaps it's a line from Machiavelli's Il Principe?
