Haven't heard of it. Is it a new mod? From which site?

I play with it enabled. It's only fair; the escorts need all the help they can get to kill K-61!

I believe it makes your U-boat more vulnerable to damage, according to historical reality as the game designers understood it. With it unchecked, you are less likely to get damaged. I don't know if it makes you invulnerable, or just less likely to get damaged.

Since I've never played with it unchecked, I can't say for sure. But I think you are a good enough Kaleun that you should play with it selected.

Realstic U-Boat vunerability OFF = Diamond encrusted titanium uboat.
-You can sometimes survive a destroyer ramming

Realstic U-Boat vunerability ON = Tin Uboat renforced with paper
Merchants can sink you in a few shot from their pop gun artillary.

Both seem pretty unrealistic to me.

I have always played with it on, not really fair otherwise in my view.

I can deal with inequalities in the game, as long as they are balanced. Sure, the damage model to the U-boat isn't right, but on the other hand, I find that this is offset by the ineptitude of the escorts. While this game has its flaws, I think it is evenly flawed, if you get the sense of what I am trying to convey.

Yes its evenly flawed with its....

unresposive zombie merchants

suicidal DDs that take fatal short cuts accross land just to get you.

kamakazie sunderlands, that attck in formations of 10 plus and fly around on fire.

torpeedo bombers with no torpeedos

lack of any other subs or Uboats besides your own.

Elcos with constapation in the torpeedo tubes

Yup, JU88, I hear you on those. Some things that are flawed have been ameliorated to some extent by mods, but there are still some things that need remedying. Let's hope that the next great U-boat game, whoever makes it, fixes these.

Until such time, warts and all, I'm sticking with this game. When I consider the advances this game has made over Aces of the Deep, I'm fairly satisfied. Like I said, there's hope for the future.

Your forgot about the insubstantial harbor walls that let Destroyers drive through them without giving them any damage. They kick in as soon as the AI wants to attack you in a harbor but is unable to negotiate it's docks. It's nice to see enemys getting to you by using the wonder of osmosis
