I have a Radeon 9700 Card. Apparently the latest ATI drivers have a display problem (please refer to their website).

I tried my game last night on the Perfect Setting, but didn't notice the reported problem, but did notice geometric patterns within forested areas, especially from a distance.

What is the experience of other ATI card owners, especially in light of the new display drivers and latest patches for the game.

I had a host of annoying problems with my Radeon 9700 pro under Windows 2000. Until Cat 3.4, I had endless crashes, multiple bluescreeens and in-game problems. Cat 3.4 solved a lot of these, but there were lingering issues.

I've since moved to Windows XP and installed Cat 3.7 -- IL-2 runs quite well, and I've seen no other problems. However, it's only been a week so far.

This should probably be moved to technical support, however.

Try the omega drivers from www.omegacorner.com (http://www.omegacorner.com). I'm using them (hacked 9500 to a 9700) and can run on Perfect in 1280x960 res with a smooth framerate, only stutters in heavy smoke. I had a lot of problems with corruption in perfect with the 3.6's, but nothing at all with the 3.7 Omegas.

I too have a Radeon 9700 (without the pro). My settings for IL2FB are from within the setup for video: ATI 9500/9700. Simple. I use the latest cataclyst 3.7 drivers and can fly with ease over smaller maps (including Hungary) in perfect setting and with full detail. The Gulf of Finland, esp. Leningrad, is too much for my hardware, but this is due to the processor (P4 1.7gHz) and the old style memory (sdram). Very low framerates, like in slideshow
The settings for the vid card itself are (OpenGL):
4xAA, 4xAnisotrophic (application), all other settings to max and (important for FB): vertical synch standard on.
This worked for me the best. So depending on the speed of your main hardware the Radeon 9700 is perfect for IlFB.
After all this the crosslines in the forests should be gone, as goes for the white, vertical (!) lines in perfect setting.
Good luck with tuning!

Check the tech forum - be sure you completely remove old drivers and ati control panel before installing 3.7 drivers

I've a Radeon 9700 Pro, and I've noticed that with the new Cat 3.7 drivers, flying over forests is hell. The fps drops by about 50%. I'm going to try the Omega 3.7 drivers later, and if they don't work properly either, I'm going back to Cat 3.6 drivers. About display corruption, my screen is streatched at both ends, but I can't find anything about that on the ATI website. Any links would be helpful.

Don't use Perfect just yet. Someday, Oleg will sit down with the boys at ATI and they'll sort it out. In the meantime, fly at excellent!

will check that out but so far the 9600 is just great and a big step forward from my last card - would be good to see how to get more out of it (at last I can fly over Leningrad and spot landmarks without judder). cool.

ps someone started a thread asking after good value cards and had 150 to spend. if you're reading this mine was 105 with 256megs ddr, AGP8x etc. from savastore. ordered it saturday and it turned up today by courier.

go to www.rage3d.com (http://www.rage3d.com) for advise about your 9600 - check the forums.

I had some display problems initially but followed hunter's advice - this thread belongs in the tech forum.
