Pics from the Air & Space Hall at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester.

The balcony was closed for refurbishment so some of the aircraft like the Lightning and Shackleton were difficult to get decent pics of which was a bit frustrating but they've got some interesting stuff and is free to get in so is well worth a visit.

Bristol Belvedere, operated in the 1960s. Impressive looking aircraft, like a British Chinook. There was actually a teacher there telling his students it was currently being used in Afghanistan! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ah nice wish I was there, or anywhere today other than this -3C frozen deck out back day.

Great pics and thanks for posting http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Nice to see my namesake featuring in 3 of the types http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Did someone say that the Avro Shackleton was '10,000 rivets flying in formation'?

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

Cheers for the pics, I took my lad a little while ago but only got some mobile phone pics, forgot the camera.

I'd like to go back with it and him but he's 2 and half now, old enough to get bored wandering round looking at aircraft.

They have some interesting jet engines there, but they're not terribly photogenic.

MB_Avro, Manchester is very closely aligned with Avros (the company) so there's a lot of their stuff there.

Great shots under difficult conditions. Ive shot in many cramped poorly lit museums, and these are very good. You can always count on the AC to be blocked by other displays that are totally out of place, like the car with the Lightning above. A great museum.
