Papy-Toa of the 99th has been providing us with some rather tasty Med missions of late. Lot's of Bombing and pretty even sides in the air. But the guy has a sick sense of humor. He likes to put in these "little surprises" at the end of the mission that tend to get you/me killed.

For example one bombing mission has us wiping out an artillery marshalling yard. Windancer and I get the job done (or so we thought) fought our way home and landed at the airbase. We're sitting in our respective A-20's sharing a Coke and Smile when "WHOOMP" up goes Dancer's plane in a cloud of smoke and debris..

WTF!!!!??? we holla in unison. No planes in sight, no enemy troops on the edge of the runway. 3 minutes later "WHOMMPH" part duex and I'm also consigned to the happy hunting grounds. No I know theres no landmines IL2 so I look around. Papy, the sneaky Bastiche.. has scripted some huge honking "Hammer of God" mechanized mortars to appear at the now blasted target area. These babies have the reach to hit us in the bathroom.. "Blue Wins".

Needless to say that mission was a laugh a minute. Two nights ago we're flying another of these Cracker Jack missions. Again I'm A-20 drivin'. I lead the strike, drop my eggs right on the tracks betwixt some towers. "RED WINS". I light my victory ceegar and drag *** outta there. My wing, still eager fer blood, skrag the nearby airfield for points.

Another A-20 driver and I make it home, park our birds on the tarmac and chortle to ourselves about the nice mission when sirens start to wail. Now we'd been assigned dedicated escort. These guys were all breathers and all alive.. I take a look around and see that a pair of FW-190's are flying closer to our base, our AAA deficient, naked as a babies bum base.

Me: Errrr escort lead we've gotta problem over the base.

99th Patches: This is escort lead we see em we're comin'...

Me: Patches they're getting closer..

Patches: Shaddup, we're comin'!!!

Me: Oh boys they're nosing over and assuming attack posture and we're nekid here..

Rockstar: We got, we see's em..

Me: Boy's I got over 600 points and...

BLAMMO...

Next thing you know I'm space dust. Of course escort get the two FW's and the other A-20 breathes a sigh of relief only to explode a minute later as a lone JU-88 floats overhead just long enough to kill him. Sigh....

With mates like this who needs the enemy???!!!!

I'd quit that squad if they can't protect their bombers better than that. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

S! Mr.Worf. Just could'nt get to them fast enough sir. Those new missions of Papy's are a good challenge in using team tactics. Note that I did personally notify your virtual family for you and they are aware of your bravery valor. It was one of the most difficult things I have had to virtually do. =S= See ya tonite http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Great story http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif You guys are having too much fun. Still checking in on the 99th. TS once in awhile but always the wrong time. One of these days ... Working afternoon shift on the West Coast rules out a lot of online action but I've been hooking up with some dudes in Europe and a few 'Mericans who never sleep. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

Oh Mr.Worf, you know I love my virtual wife too much to ever stray from her.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif
Besides they took back the virtual survivor money cause they found out about your beam out to safety from the orbiting starship. They beamed you back to the strip club down at Cabo and the local government has notified your superiors. You got some splainen to do now! I for one am glad you are still alive, drinks are on me tonite!
...Much love sir

Mr. Canuck I PM'd you our current TS server info..Stop by anytime!

What time do you guys run COOPs? What settings do you normally use?

I've flown with a couple 99th guys in VFC coops before and they seemed like a good group. VFC COOPs are always evened out well, but, I've been in some other lately that are not. I hate to see '46 LW uber planes vs. '44 USAAF stuff. I've also seen really lame matchups the other way like Spit +25s and Mustang IIIs outnumbering a few Bf109G6s.

I'll look for the 99th callsign. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

We fly everynight about 9PM eastern till...we are done. Usually 3-4 hours worth of flying before we call it a night. We fly realistic setting much like VFC. We do allow limited icons normally. Join us anytime sir!
