ok i just moved to the Netherlands - tried to host my campaign the other day and could only host 8 players + myself. Strange internet services here ... i got cable that could suck 300-400 kbyte a sec but only upload 8 kbyte http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

so i got a dsl from wanadoo.nl and got the "luxury" 1536 adsl wich costs an arm - and a leg too ! but i got only 256 upload wich is roughly 32kbyte - same as i had in Iceland (512/256) and i could handle 16 players with FB 1.0. I thought my connection was the bottleneck but now i realize that the problem when playing more then 20 was lag without the pings getting high so it can't be my dsl that was the bottleneck - i got a huge system so there is no bottleneck there either - i am hoping to be able to host 24 players now but i don't know about 256 kbit upstream .... hmmm :| I am hoping that 1.1b will enable me to host more players without lag (fingers crossed)

how many players can you host on a 256 kbit upstream ?(1.1)

any tricks to reduce bandwith usage or optimize in any way ?

If it`s dedicated machine you could hold 12+1 host... if not...10 with you included...i wouldn`t go higher tho.

At the start of WW2 the German army lacked experienced anti-aircraft gunners. The average gunner was so bad that the USSR decided to help them out. They did it by forcing some of their pilots to fly I-153 flak magnets. These planes were slow but very sturdy. This allowed German anti-aircraft gunners to get a large amount of target practice on a relatively small number of planes. Thanks to the Soviets help, by the end of the war the German anti-aircraft gunners were amoung the best in the world.</center>
