The one in BOB has 3 tailbooms and turbine driven counter rotating props. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif
Come to think of it that particular model had twin overhead drip feed after burners with twin intercooled turbo chargers. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The missing propeller blade is there to offset torque. Pure genius on the part of British engineers at Hawker.

Wonder how many .303s that thing could take... or maybe the Hurricane MK.Z-C
6 Hispanos? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Shakthamac

probably could take 18 .303's, but genious british designers of the period would have half of them firing backwards http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Vipez, is that a real set, or are you just the master of scratch-building?

Two things that have really disappointed me about this sim;

First, the addition of planes that never saw combat, on both sides. I like accuracy, that's my attraction to this sim. These were created with the expense of real planes that never made the sim. Real planes that saw combat and made a difference.

Second, PF, but that's more subjective. I just find it simply boring, but that's about me and not the sim.

Going back to the first, how many planes are we missing? The list is fairly long. I recently baught a nice book about the LW in WW2. I couldn't believe just how many planes were sacrificed for these experimental aircraft.

Although the "what if" planes are interesting to fly, I feel the price of having them is just too high.

I hope, no, I'm praying to Oleg that BoB won't become infected.

Well thats sure we missed many LW planes but I can only count 2 LW planes in that never saw fight : The 109Z (which was nly produce to 1 exemplar I think) and the Gotha (3 or 4 unfinished prototypes) all other LW planes participated to the war.

Now thats sure when we throw an eye on WWII LW fighters/bombers which entered in combat we can see that we missed alot :

(Not exhaustive list, passed out the pre war biplans, listing families not subversions)

-Arado Ar 234 Blitz (2 jet engines bomber)
-Arado Ar 240 (2 engines zerstorer)
-Dornier DO 17 (2 engines bomber)
-Dornier Do 335 Pfeil (2 lined engines fighter)
-Focke-Wulf Fw 189 uhu (2 engines record/support plane)
-Heinkel He 219 Uhu (2 engines zerstorer)
-Henschel Hs 129 (2 engines heavy support craft)
-Junkers Ju 88 (2 engines bomber/zerstorer)
-Junkers Ju 388 (2 engines Nightfighter/zerstorer)
-Messerschmitt Me 210 (2 engines fighter/Zerstorer)
-Messerschmitt Me 410 Hornisse (2 engines fighter/Zerstorer)

all those planes where massively manufactured and used in combat but we saw none of them....

I think we need to get a hold of ourselves. If anyone thought IL2 was a realistic sim to begin with, you are wrong. It's an arcade game. It is insanely simplified representation of real flying, and should be treated as such.

or a Pe-2

& guess what ......................... they havent

its taken a user of FB to decide to boot up 3DSmax & spend hundreds of hours making it himself

thats where these "never-saw-combat" planes have come from as well . . . . . . . from people outside of maddox Games who happen to like this sim

no plane was held up in development because a 3rd party moddler was making a plane for this sim

apart from the I-185 , Maddox Games stopped making planes for FB just before FB was released back in 2002

Had Oleg set the limitations in the beginning to being "it had to have seen combat before the end of the war" the 3rd party modellers would have choosen from a list. I just feel we lost out a bit. The 109z, Go229, me-rocket, and the PY-80 just don't fit in. I would have been much happier to get the Stork.

These are doubtful IMHO. If I had to estimate, alone more Ju-88s were built then all the planes from this list together. (no books @ work now so can't look up a thing)

Ju-88, Do-17 and Pe-2 are wanted most. By me anyway... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

any plane up to 1946 has always been welcomed

there was never any bias set against late 1945 or 1946 planes when FB was close to , & after its release

bias against adding 1945/46 planes ONLY started when PF was in development & "NO" was the answer given for planes like the F8F , F7F & J7W1

3rd party moddelers had a list , it was arranged at the old il2center website

there was plenty of 1944 , 45 & 46 planes there , mostly german

if the 3rd party moddlers had actually made them all they would have been added

bias against 1945/46 planes exists outside of maddox Games in the player community , not within the games makers (at least not for the first 3 years of FBs existence)
