Coming soon to a theater, er computer near you...!

Hurricane Season carries you through 20 missions as a Hurricane pilot flying with the 601st out of RAF Tangmere in the months of July and August - 1/2 of the Battle of Britain. I have 20 more missions planned to take you through the second half of BOB as you get promoted and moved to another base, as RAF Control re-arranges manpower to accomodate for pilot shortages. You will be assigned to fly Spitfires there, in a new patrol region of the map.

But I digress, lets get back to Hurricane Season. A large operational area with surprise locations, weather, detailed storyline & briefings, BOB skins, and four operational bases in your area, any of which can be used to complete your mission, (Tangmere, Warmwell, Exeter & Ford). Skins reflect the markings of your neighboring squadrons and will be seen regularly. Enemy markings will reflect actual squadrons operational for BOB and in your operational area. Most events reflect actual BOB timeline and mission occurrences for that day. The missions are survivable but fun, I recommend full-real. There are 2 rules:
€ Rule One - survive and get home
€ Rule Two - see Rule One

I will ask for a few beta testers before release, but I have a couple more missions to complete. Keep in mind, this is definitely not for weaker machines. Comments are welcome.

Hi there, Cobra427so,

Really impressive work, love the look of it. I think I could enjoy playing this.

Just one thought, and it's really only a minor one. Are those the final skins for the Hurricanes as per July/August 1940? The only reason I ask is, I had always thought the combination of Sky coloured spinner and Sky coloured fuselage tail band were not introduced until late November of that year (Air Ministry directive 27th November).

I could be wrong, of course, but even if I'm right I guess it doesn't matter - just a trival point really.

Keep up the work - it's really great!

Best regards,

The map used to create this is the KUBAN map and all the actual bases in the KUBAN map are reprsented in the printable maps. When compared to a real Britain map, many locations are similar. So with a little imagination, we're there!

As far as the skins, it was hard to find relative art to work by, so I did the best I could with what I found. There might be a little artistic license thrown in for color too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif The codes are all squadron correct and you will fly with markings off because the IL2 does not have many of the British BOB squadrons actually listed for choosing... so there won't be A,B,C, etc on the planes. The German planes have them on most though, because I found them more populated in IL2.

I may also include a cheat sheet for Squadron IDs for fun.

I wish you good luck with this campaign. I will be interested to see how you do with the Kuban map. The previous Battle of Britain campaign was good but did not quite ring true with extraneous islands off the South coast and the whole geography not feelng right. I have given the Battle of Britain Wings of Victory a spin and nearly flew my Hurricane into the Southampton balloon barrage. I do hope the new Maddox BOB sim does justice to the Battle of Britain and has a similar attention to detail.
European Air War was an excellent sim but had really annoying details like post decimal coinage visible in some shots. could be that they were sloppy or it could be that I am a saddo.

Cheers

Looking awesome, although the Hurri in your pics looks like a Mk.IIb. Historically these weren't available until after the Battle of Britain. The historic mark is the Mk. I.

Somewhere in there can you put a Do335, or a 1.98ATA K4

Hi Deacon,

I'm hoping to ask for beta testers in about a week. I've flown it alot so I think most of the bugs are out, so hopefully, the beta will go well. Then out!

Claypidgeon,

I'm sure you're system will be fine, I forget sometimes I have "perfect" settings for graphics... reset that to "excellent" and it frees up alot. So I think alot can be adjusted if you need to. I will keep you in mind for the beta testing

Thanks!

Saweet! Count me in. The Hurricane was the first plane I used when I first got this game.

Many consider the hurricane an inferior aircraft, and in some respects it is, but jeez, the guns on this puppy is devasting.

For all of us waiting to get our hands on BOB - Cliffs of Dover, this would definitely be a good start.
