As many people have noticed there are some very talented people out there who are writing stories or very detailed logs from the game. (I'm sorry off the top of my head I cant remember all the Uboat numbers) Howerever there are alot of people out there that like to write.

The last response I recieved on part 4 of my story brought a great idea to my attention and I figured it could be made to a poll to see if the SH3 community supported it.

The sugestion was to start a thread or sticky ongoing stories.

If you try to follow some of the stories they often end up pushed off onto another page and alot of interesting reading material can be found back 10-15 pages in the forums. This would give the SH3 community something to look forward to reading and also allow those writing to get an idea of their following.

Again its just and idea but a good one, if we could not sticky it how about a seperate thread that people can check to look for reports and stories.

Like the community oppinion on the subject maybe we can convince the administrators/moderators (the great people they are) (Scores Browny points http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif) to make some changes.

Looking forward to your replies

By the way all the story writers keep up the great work, I love reading these each day!

As we have a general discussion forum, a community help forum, why not a patrol stories forum?
Why not a monthly short stories forum similar to the screenshot thread? We all vote on the best one for the month

We already had a stiky section for patrol stories. No one used it. Now it is gone.

The current system is good.

But recently there has been a huge wave (so to speak) of excellent creative writing - THANKS, GUYS, MUCH APPRECIATED! - and I'm sure it would be most helpful to both writers and readers if the forum had it's separate creative writing area, with boats/Kaleuns each having their own thread so that stories can be followed easily. I'm really for a separate area, not stickies, as this would clutter up the General Discussion top page in no time.

Eh? My vote went into the stickies and not the own area?
Maybe i did'nt put it in the right place, it's late here http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Can't say i personally read the stories etc but i have looked a bit here and there and they look good to me. Basically i think that if people want to write them and people want to read them they should be here.
I pretty much agree with everything Bootsmann0815 said.

How about this, use a sticky that has links to all the stories. That way, it can be updated easily and will not be crowded

I was really pleased to read the responses to "The Guest" that I wrote, and it inspired me to continue the story. Personally, as for where they go, I'm happy to leave mine as a standalone thread , but a sticky for them would provide a 'one stop shop' for them all together.

sticky, sticky, sticky http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Or own area not fussed.

Never really been bothered about fan fiction in games before but Silent Hunter 3 patrols are all mini stories in themselves and make fantastic AAR's and reading material, especially when people flesh out some of their characters.

I've almost finished my AAR/Patrol story and would love to think that maybe someone might actually read it instead of being pushed to page 15 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Loved your story mr Jambo. Hurry up with the next instalment please! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thankyou Skimbo. May I ask what AAR means?

I'm writing my sencond part as you read this post. Itisn't based on a particular patrol, so the planning and story line is taking me a little longer than I had thought. I do appreciate your comments and I look forward to you posting your creativeness. Go for it.
