I flew online a few years back for fun. I have flown single player consisently for years and I visit the forum religiously and even add my highly valued opinion on occasion.

Now that all the dust from all the great addons has settled, where might a find a friendly server. My skills are average at best. I would do more evanding than shooting I am sure, I just would not want to p*ss anyone off in the process. I do have Hyperlobby and went to fly a few weeks back. Turns out most of you cats have PF, so I bought it and installed it. Patched to the most recent patch.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Try Warbirds of Prey's servers. You've got three flavors to choose from: PF Stand-alone, Spits vs. 109, Zekes vs. Wildcats. I've flown on several of the "better known" servers in the few months I've been flying on-line, and have enjoyed Warbirds the most. Don't get me wrong, there are some other good ones out there, I just prefer Warbirds.

I have the full mergered FB/PF, so I'm not sure about the PF stand-alone, but Spits vs. 109 is full switch, Z vs. W is full switch, except min-map path is on. That is going to be changing soon, so I hear.

UK-Dedicated is generally a very friendly server. The pilots there are serious but generally friendly. There is a great collection of pilots who are regulars and very accomodating to new pilots.

Be sure to ask questions if you've got them, take your time, and have a look around at the briefing and the map before flying.

UK-D1 uses slightly relaxed settings (and is by far the most popular). UK-D2 is essentially full difficulty and is currently less popular although gaining in popularity.

True, but, no offense to the server, I find that these servers, among others, and just late-war based servers, aaalways containing 44 onwards planes, i.e. Spit 9e, La 7, Ki-84, Yak3P, 109 G/K stuff like that. It's fine if that's what you prefer, but I'm just pointing out their style of play.

Depends on what your looking for. For more serious playing, usually with a good stick setup, rudders and Track IR, I'd say Warclouds are the way to go. If you want laid back, fun flying, I'd recommend SarahZOOM, VF-19, and BBloke, who has a lot of AI planes flyable too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif not many fighters though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif No matter.

Good luck http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

The server is always friendly - it never shoots anyone. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

UK Dedicated1 has balanced games on a rotated map most of the time, varying from Bf-109E/Fs Vs Early Yak MiG LaGG etc.

334th Ded - Seems only to be late war planes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

334th - Dogfight practise server, fly what you want against any other plane.

UKD 1 - Good mission based Allies vs Jerries server.

Warclouds - Cockpit always on server, few icons, try this when you have gained more confidence on the other 2.

Start on the 334th is my suggestion. Nice guys all of them and you will get answers to all questions. (My favourite 'whats the target again?') Something other servers wont always do, they may even threaten to kick you for asking what the target is http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif Sad I think.

Eastern hotshots, for some classic 1941-1945 eastern front action. Full switch except close range icons. Lots of ground targets and tasty planeset.

If you have TrackIR or are good with your mouse, I'd recommend the bigger servers that have comms (like Teamspeak).

Sparx is a really good guy at WarClouds--he'll go the extra mile to help make sure you have a good experience (this goes for the other admins there, too).

Chicago Chad (thanks, vocatx) runs the Zeke vs. Wildcat server. I had the pleasure of being one of the last few on the other night and got to know him. Very helpful and nice dude.

But USE THE COMMS and ask for help when and where you need it. You'll meet a lot of folks willing to help, besides just the server admins.

Sith, you are thinking of Chicago Chad, and yes, he is very good at giving help to someone who needs it. He once left a game and helped talk me through changing some settings on my computer.

TeamSpeak is a definite must. It really adds to the immersion and lets team players coordinate much much better. On Zekes and Wildcats there is a new feature on the teamspeak that lets you talk between the fighter and bomber channels, as well as change channels without going back to desktop.

Current map rotation at ZvW is a chronological rotation with a good mix of early and late war aircraft.

Khalin Gol- Japanese vs. Russian aircraft
AVG-self explanitory
Pearl Harbor
Rangoon- Japanese vs. RAF
Wake Island
Singapore- Japanese vs. RAF
Coral Sea
Midway
Milne Bay
Kokoda Trail- Japaese vs. RAF and USAAF
Rabaul
Tarawa
Marianas
Palau
Guam Raid
Iwo Jima Morning- early morning on the day of the invasion of Iwo
Okinawa- You will love the thunderstorms

They are also discussing some "mini-missions" interspersed with the current rotation. Check it out. It's become my favorite server.
