This forum is going to be visited at least a dozen times over the next month or so by people who received FB as a gift, and don't know anything about the game, the community, these forums, or us. Let's be nice to them for a change and not Flame Them Down Till They Go Away like we usually do, k?

I hope that you are right, Bearcat. Last year people were chided for not being able to use a forum search engine . . . that did NOT work anyway. People were called idiots for not knowing how to use CEM . . . I still have a bit of trouble with that one me-self. And people were run off from the one place that they SHOULD have found help by 7 year old virtual a$$hats.

Yes, lets be nice to the newbs. People catch on pretty fast if you are just willing to help out a bit, and after that, you have something more important than an inflated ego . . . a FRIEND!

I agree...

And I will give an experience of how it should work.

This past month a number of us Pigs have rediscovered Grand Prix Legends. We've been busy getting all the mods, patches etc, to make the game look and run great. so the time comes for our first online racing. We go to the Vroc lobby. (similar to HL). We were welcomed warmly by all who were there. they answered our n00b questions readily and accurately. We apologized for all the n00b behavior, to which they replied, "We welcome n00bs here, they are the future of our game."

Pretty cool huh?

Let's give the same support to our newbies, as they are the future of prop sims...

Be sure!

Flamers and nasty types get recognised pretty quickly in here anyway.

Newbie flaming is pretty low, I never stand for it anyway and I wont stand by and quietly watch if I see it going on.

I got flamed quite regularly when I was new (hell I even get flamed still..http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). I ignored it and persevered. All forums have a$$hat$. I've found quite a few nice folks around here in the almost year I have been participating here. those are the people that make it worth to come back here and keep participating and posting.

These forums have taught me a lot and have helped with my enjoyment of the sim. Like I've said before this sim keep s providing me with new and great things all the time.

The new forum has a feature I don't understand but do know it works. In the bottom right hand corner of each post is a small yellow triangle, "report this post".

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/images3/topic_alert.gif

I don't know who it reports to, but I have seen posts dissappear after using it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I for one, had a good experience when I first visited the forum to get some answers for this new sim I just bought. That was six months ago. I've seen quite a few noobs get flamed for asking for any help in between then and now. All I can say is the help and advice I recieved from this place when I first got started meant alot to me. I appreciated it. And in return, this community gained one more member willing to help others and a wilingness to participate. I agree wholeheartedly with the original post. S!

Oh, and let's make sure "Tully" doesn't go off like he usually does. It seems like every post that guy makes is a personal attack, sometimes it gets nasty. Someone needs to keep his attitude in check, big time.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

All of these responses have warmed my heart. LOL

Now I know why I can spend hours in just the GD forum of IL2.

I fully agree to being nice! After all,a forum is the best place to post questions in search of
answers from others with the same interest.

The magazine "Fine Scale Modeler",runs a very informative, friendly, and well moderated forum.

If a "noob" needs advice on how to fill seams,or paint the road wheels of his/hers model tank,I help out if possible.

As far as flaming, and hate mailing go,there is enough hate to be seen on the evening news!

Take care all!

I hope the holidays are treating you well..
Just turned 43 years old today.I'll have to memorize my new age in order not to get emberassed if asked within the next few days.

Yes, a noob server would be kind of nice. With the vets not doing much shooting but coaching. It is a complicated sim and the jump to online play is a big one for many.

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!
