Well for the first time ever an IL2 eveaded me from 1000 to 3500M while I chased in my hurriIIC.I couldnt believe this IL2 was going straight up and I couldnt gain and was losing at times. Now this is screwed up.How the hell can an IL2 outclimb me in a hurri.

Checked in view object and AHHHAAAA I knew it!!!

Hurri
Climb to 6,100 m: 7,7 min

IL2
Climb to 5,000m: 9.2min.

Now I am thinking holy crap wht the heck is this and wondering if I should come here and rant and rave/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Instead I load up the very good program IL2-Compare and Voila!!!!

It states that at sea level the IL2 climbs at 16 Meters/sec compared to the terrible Hurri at 11 M/S

At about 2000alt I was neck and neck in climb but I just couldnt catch up until around 3300 where all of a sudden I started gaining and thats what IL2-Compare states!

By the time we hit 4000Alt the hurri is at 15M/S and gaining speed while the IL2 is at 10M/S and Losing.

VERY IMPRESSIVE/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Was it online? Maybe the IL-2 was in lag UFO mode?

This was offline.I didnt engage the supercharger and could be why i didnt catch up earlier.

Ok I get the Il2-C program now.It shows what is going on in the FB world even if its wrong.I dont think that an IL2 should climb faster than a Hurri even at low alt. What do you guys think.

All in all the IL2-C program can really give you the start of getting the most from your plane of choice.

The il-2 is a good climber now, I also was/am very suprised how good it can climb since 1.1b.

The information in the object file is independent of the performance in the sim. Patches will change the FM, but the object files will remain the same. For truly accurate info, extensive hand crafted testing is the only way.

When you climb, there are ways that you could climb slower than an IL2 even in best dogfighter. If your climbing angle is too steep, you will bog yourself down. Each aircraft has a speed where it climbs the best, and the more you deviate from this optimal speed the worse you will climb. Now that there is adjustable prop pitch, this adds another factor into the equation.

Taking into account what I read in IL2Compare the optimal rate is about 200KPH for the hurri and I was at 180 to 200.

What do you do to find out the best climbing speed for a given aircraft, Ray?

RBJ get this tool its called il2 compare it works with FB & its awsome it somehow analyzes the FM not the object viewer so after each patch you can see what the hell is going on with each AC

The IL2 compare is a program that uses the AI to calculate the FM of each plane. The AI is perfect at extracating the performance of the planes so it takes a great pilot to match the numbers.
