Wasn't "horrido" the call when a LW fighter jock had scored a kill, so his squad mates could confirm the target going down, place and time?

The "Tally-ho" rules were officially instigated by Keith Park, Commanding Officer of Number 11 group, on August 26th, 1940.

Park had been worried about the low rate of intercepts in his group, mostly because of faulty Observer Corps reckoning, due to low cloud cover. He sent a message to his controllers requiring formation leaders to report "the approximate strength of enemy bombers and fighters, thier height, and approximate position, immediately on sighting the enemy"

Yelling "Yo la tengo!" springs to mind from a baseball story.

Yo la tengo explained.

The center fielder of the New York Mets in 1962, Richie Ashburn, was crashing again and again with Venezuelan Elio Chacon. Every time Ashburn went for a ball, he would scream, "I got it! I got it!" only to collide with the 160 pound (73 kg) Chacon, who spoke only Spanish. Finally, Ashburn learnt to yell, "Yo la tengo! Yo la tengo!" which is "I've got it" in Spanish. Ashburn happily saw Chacon backing off. He relaxed, positioned himself to catch the ball, and was run over by 200 pound (91 kg) left fielder Frank Thomas Sr. who understood no Spanish.

Pepper, you just gave me one of the best laughs I've had in a while. That was truly and honestly hilarious. Sounds like something that would happen to me! Thank you!

I shout my family slogan/battlecry: "You sorry b@st@rds are REALLY f*cked now!"

...often followed shortly thereafter by "****! Where'd he come from?"

cheers

I yell what any P-47 driver should yell in that situation:

"What the he11 am I doing down here in the middle of all these bunny suckers????"

Then promptly get shredded by 12 Yaks/Spits/LA7's all shooting over each other's shoulders since there's no easier kill than a 47 in the weeds http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

When I yell, it's usually the words that are supposedly the most common "last words" in the English language: Oh sh*t.

I do the sensible thing, keep my cool but become aggresive in my manuvers if need be, and i also ask for mates to clear my six which more often than not works...

I don't really yell anything anymore, no matter how bad the situation gets.

It's kinda hard to explain random screams and outbursts in the middle of the night to a wife with curlers in her hair, and intent look in her eyes, and a rolling pin in her hand!

For my part though, I do tend to trough quite a few menacing if not purley evil looks at the monitor! While it doesn't have quite the same effect as yelling "You sob of a nicht!", or a rather resigned "Yeah, this is gonna hurt!", it ensures my continued survival in real life.

Back in Jane's WWII Fighters, I always flew the Spitfire and used to yell, "Tally-Ho!!" at the launch of a game.

I still like Tally-Ho, because for me it means, "The hunt is ON!!!!"

Some of the other great sound bytes from Jane's WWII:

(British Voice): "My crate's been pranged!!!"

(British Voice): "My crate's got more holes in it than a bloody collander!!!" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
