You better try to get 46 ASAP as it is becoming harder and harder to find.

Bearcat... being a long time simmer, do you have any idea why that is? I am hopeing it's a supply thing, like it was so popular that they ran out, and are working on it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Probably a supply thing...I can see Ubisoft continuing to release it in some format but supply will probably be tight as its note a huge seller. On the other side of the coin I think they have done pretty well continuing to sell the product over and over again. Some may object a bit to that but given the prices and the flight sim market in general its gone well.

If there were large numbers sitting on the shelves that'd be worse.

I dont know... but I have been flying inthis series since the original IL2 was still going for $49.99. I have seen this same thin happen with FB, The AEP, and PF.. although PF is back so to speak... to a degree.

Over here in the UK if you walk into an "Game" chain store or "HMV" they normally have a copy, i was in 5 different computer games stores this weekend as i was trying to track down an old game - but i did look and every single one of them had at least one copy of 1946 - one even had SEVEN copies on the shelves which took me back as ive been hearing you lot over the pond have been struggling to find it.
Perhaps you could try net ordering it from the UK, shouldnt cost too much to ship.

EDIT - to remove stupid spelling mistakes, although theres likely still more

Any more, over here in the states, you're lucky to find ANY flight sims - other than M$F$ - on the shelves. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Well, I suppose that's a good thing - they're selling at least. In the mall here in Medford, there are two software stores, Software Etc, and Electronic Boutique. Both places no longer have a section of shelf space dedicated to simulations. You can find a few driving games, and of course, the latest MS flight sim there, but it's hard to find any combat flight sims out there any more. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Remember the days when you actually had to choose between 3 or 4 Jane's titles, plus SSI's Flanker, DID's F/A-18 Korea, Microprose EAW and F4, all taking up shelf space? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It seems to me that a lot of new people are showing up with PF in here, that don't know about 46, could be stores want to clear out old stock, we all know this a common practice with other products.

Agin in the UK -
PC WORLD - a large high street chain, have got in MANY varieties of il2, when i was in there this afternoon i spotted the "complete edition 4.04m" twice, both prived 9.99, the original il2 once at 14.99, pacific fighters twice, one priced 29.99 and one priced 7.99, and three copies of 1946, one at 19.99, one at 15.99 and one at 29.99. This is a pretty new store as well it only opened about 6 months ago in Kingston upon thames, Surrey so the price differences can;t be down to old stock lingering around but rather the other stores sending them a "starter pack" of games (same price differences in the older PS2 games too) or lazy *** staff!
The PC games section isnt even organised in any way, no alphabetical order, no genre order - nothing! But at least you can see that theres a lot of variety kicking about in the UK.

I don't fly '46 but I have the set of DVDs!! Just waiting to get or build a new PC before I bother installing. I have had it for a possum's age, which is a long time. My copy is busy gathering dust as I type this. Thankfully, I just got a nice job back in my original career field, making twice as much as I was working for the Dept. of Homeland Security!! And that's not including a generous bonus package, paid out twice a year. Congratulations to mortoma!!
That would be me........ http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Well, I followed Bearcat's advice and snatched my copy from a store where there were only 2 copies left.

Money well spent and a great deal specially since I had only bought the original IL-2 back in the day, so I did really get it all for a great price. Which is convenient now that I do have a rig that will run things good.

Anyways. Quick question. will the 4.08 patch mess up with the shipped tracks? If so I might want to go through all the tracks before I go online with it. Or do the ol' dual set up.

Strange at an electronics and media store called FNAC (a French chain) here in Switzerland I always see a stack of copies of Il-2 46. Maybe because it is a French store??

I haven't seen it in stores for a while, but then again I haven't really been looking. The local CompUSA had Pacific Fighters, but no IL2 1946. I stopped at a Fry's Electronics back in August, and they had a lot of shelf space dedicated to Flight Sims, but most of it was FSX and a ton of 3rd party add-ons, with a couple of copies of LOMAC, one Pacific Fighters, and that Vietnam helicopter sim.

If anyone can't find it locally, I suggest eBay, Downloading the game from ubi.com or Direct2Drive, or perhaps one of the many online stores that sell PC Games.

Being in Brazil, 1946 was simply not available. I went on eBay and found it in maybe two minutes. I got a new, in box, still shrink-wrapped set for about $15.00 I think. With shipping to here it came to $27 USD. Still a bargain compared to what it would be in a store here. There are still selling the FB+AEP+PF package for R$99.00. (about $55 USD depending on the exchange rate)

You get a free copy of 46 with the purchase of 1 plastic rose from those guys in the middle of the intersection.

I didn't see 1946 at the local CompUsa last time I was there, but then again I don't recall ever seeing it there. But, they still had 2 copies of Pacific Fighters on the shelf. They had a computer set up with a flyable demo of FSX and a bunch of addons for it set up in it's own little area though. Too bad IL2 doesn't get that kind of in store advertising.
