Just something the public ought to be aware of...

Last night my 3 year old daughter was, as always, trolling General Discussion (I won't give away her alias /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ) when, for some mysterious reason, she clicked the link to the off-topic forum.

Now, I don't go over to that filthy place so I don't know exactly what it is she saw, but it must have screwed with the wiring in her head, because you won't believe what she did next....

She went off and started her own forum. Now, she's the only one who really participates, except for a couple imaginary friends, so I don't think it'll get too out of control. But still, UBI should put warnings near the link. We don't really need little children becoming influenced by this and starting their own forums. After all, one ilyushin2.net is enough!

Be seeing you.

This is just wrong...plain wrong!

A 3 year old should be able to browse the internet and go anywhere she damn well pleases.

Just yesterday after I talked my 3 year old out of eating the mouse wire, she and I read a few web pages on politics.

She gets such a kick out of it.

In fact, she enjoyed it so much that I decided to let her play on the net while I run down to the store to buy some beer and whiskey.

Some people say you shouldn't leave a 3 year old alone but heck...she had the internet.

Plus...those mouse wires are only dangerous if you eat through the insulation.

And Parents!!!

Don't forget - should you neglect your child and she clicks on a naughty link, be sure to go there and post a video of the murder of Daniel Pearl. Never mind who else's kid might see it.

It's the right thing to do.

Yea, but your own kid? Jeez, show some brass and sell her the good stuff that makes your brain burn.

Profits better on 80 proof, gets 'em good and hooked quicker.

God, I need a shower

In all seriousness, what does it say for the decision making hierarchy of a family oriented business (Computer game software publisher) to make a direct link to that forum?

Painfully obvious....UBI needs some changes in management.

Opinion of a parent and grandparent.

Much like the rest of the business world making decisions on who or what they want their name associated with.

That is the point. I believe you missed it.

Re: vso

The off topic forum has a bit of history here. Originally, it was the Pilot's Lounge, and was a part of the Ubi Soft forums. However, it got a bit riotous during the recent Gulf War, and the company opted to completely shut it down.

Many of us were very upset about their desision, and the topic was discussed and locked many times on the remaining forums. This is not the time or place to reopen those debates. Eventually a compromise was reached; a group of the community members would host an off topic forum, and Ubi would link to it, and people would stop asking for the old off topic forum back.

To my curent knowlege, UbiSoft has no current plans to reopen the Pilot's Lounge at any date in the future.

This forum became the number one posting forum on UBI because of a core group of original community members.

Collectively, this group did more to help sell the game by the thousands then any other "special interest" group.

The fine folks at UBI remember this and want to keep us happy. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Re: and Re:

I know the history. I don't post much, but have been here since IL2 Sturmovik was released.

However, what goes on over there is 100 times more...shall we say "intense" then in the PL that was here.

Which is fine with me...live, let live.

From a business stand point on the other hand...very poor business decision for a Software Game Publisher to direct link to a forum with such "intense" content from their Official Website.
