Hello Oleg,

After landing and taxiing around in the P-51D I noticed that the tail wheel isn't animated. The rudder moves and the tail wheel remains in the straight position. One other thing is that the radiator hatch doesn't open as far as it should. You can look at any photo of a real P-51D and see that it radiator hatch just about touches the ground. They are just small bug's that I thought you should know about. They could be addressed in the payware add-on in January. One more thing, how come we can't paint the bomb racks? They are on the template. =S=

P.S. Thank's for the excellent flight sim. Happy Holidays!

Stupid question, had to ask it, did you lock the tailwheel like I do so often?

Hello VW-IceFire,

No I didn't lock the tailwheel. I never do. Try it for yourself. Lock it and un-lock it. It won't move. Same goes for the Me-262 nosewheel. It's not animated either. Not sure if they fixed it in V1.21. Been to busy flying the P-51D. =S=

I will check that one out for myself then. I hadn't noticed it.

The Me-262 nosewheel I don't think moves. Thats historical as far as I know. The 262's had to be towed into place for take off if I remember correctly.

The 262 had a free castoring front wheel, if you can believe that. Unfortunately, in FB, it doesn't turn at all, and the Schwalbe is a pain to taxi with. Who'd a-thunk it that the guys who were able to put a jet engine on an operational plane couldn't figure out nose wheel steering. I've learned as an F-16 crew chief that engineers are jerks, and this just helps prove that point. I know Oleg and crew want to keep the realism as high as possible, but since they haven't given us a ground crew with a MB-4 (tow tug), they shoulda just made the 262 pilot-steerable.

It is not hard to steer the 262 with brakes only. It just has to be moving at a historical speed.

The graphics don't show the nose wheel turning but that does not mean it does not operate (ie. steer) as it should.

I think you will find that the P-39 had a castoring nose wheel as well.

VW-IceFire, the 262's nose wheel could be moved 50* left and right. The main pull while towing was taken up by cables attached to the main gear. The 'tow bar' only helped in steering.

I think a little imagination should fix these bug(s) right up. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm more concerned about the weird-looking aircraft id numbers over the wing; they don't look very historical.
