ok i just wanna share with you yesterdays horror !!!!

i am doing the 6th map of 7 in my campaign when i hit "play" to try out the mission - BIG MISTAKE !

i had started with the campaign-blue2.mis and was changing the map to the campaign-blue3.mis map and had been working on it for one hour at least when i hit play. to my HORROR i had not saved the mission so the stupid FMB saves the mission under the previous name when loading it to be played = mission ruined !!!!!! so i took my keyboard and smashed it on the table with bits and keys flying all over the place....... felt much better afterwards http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

not only did it ruin my mission but it ALSO ruined my briefing file wich was very very long and specific.

and i was going to host it today http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ...... AARGHH

Standard rule of thumb when editing ANY file: Save at least every 15 minutes /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

You know, the text format of mission files allows one to sneak in and change the map used, all other stuff being the same. You just gotta load some test missions and look at their files to see the (rather bizzare) names of the maps available. This kinda makes up for not being able to copy units to a new map, just assign new map to old mission and gives a not so blank template for editing.

Hehehe,

Reminds me of when I worked for the computer lab in college. Some woman, who was working on a 30+ pages report in Wordperfect, replaced all the blank spaces with 'nothing'. Then she did several more actions and saved it... then she came to get me. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

At the time, Word had only one level of undo. 30 pages with no spaces~!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

SAVE YOUR WORK~!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
