It's just occured to me that in the considerable time I've lurked on this forum I've never once seen a single image of the flyable G4M1 crew positions. Seeing as this aircraft has been allegedly complete for some time, it is indeed strange. I can only assume that I missed some important WIP update somewhere.

Hmmm.....

You didn't miss anything, there's never been any. It strikes me as odd, but it will be a nice surprise when it finally appears.

Cheers!

Perhaps this would be a good time for the devs to post something. CrazyIvan, can you ask for us?

I think its being kept under wraps deliberately - so its a bigger surprise when we finally get our greasy mits on the thing.

Nothing surer - but it will still be fun to fly http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

You need the Pacific Ocean to extinguish that thing. On the PF maps, that shoud be easy to do though.

some later models had self sealing, i think from 42 but very limited number http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

diving may put them out, but in pf they relight again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Maybe a fiery coffin. But a fiery coffin with 20mm cannons for defence.

There will be no G4M, be sure http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif. It should be finished already since the release of PF and it was not in game just because lack of CD-space (so said UBI). Another bad trick from UBI. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I look forward to fly the Betty (looky my sig http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif)

Though im kinda puzzeled what the dev team thought in terms of balance between bombers (not a complaint, just an observation), the allies got:

SBD-3 (1942)
SBD-5 (1943)
A-20 (1943)
Beaufighter (1944)
B-25 (1944)

Japanese:

Val (1939)
Betty (1941)

Oh well i enjoyed flying Il2 against 109s with mk108s and Fw190's a couple of years, something tells me ill enjoy the Betty too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif Though it wouldnt hurt if we could've gotten a good army bomber as well... Mitsubishi Ki-67 Hiryu? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Well, thoughout the Il-2 series the aircraft set has been quite unstructured. It means we get many aircraft that are a labour of love from the modeller and of high quality, but it also means that crucial aircraft (like the Do-17) get missed out. I hope that for BoB Oleg will implement a more structured approach, and maybe list the aircraft he would like completed by the 3rd party modellers to give a more balanced and representative aircraft set.

The two main shortcomings of the Il-2 series IMO, are the unstructured aircraft set and the user interface, particularly the control input settings and the aircraft selection list. I hope they are brought in line with the high standard of the rest of the sim for BoB...
