View Full Version : Missing feature on Spitfires

Oleg the flap indicator is missing on the Spitfire wings and in the interests of accuracy i feel it should be added. About 1/4 of the way out from the wing root near the trailing edge there is a small panel about 6-8 inches long and 2-3 inches wide, the panel is modelled on the skin of the Spitfire but does not activate with the flaps. It was a small panel on each wing that was physically linked to the flaps, so that when the flap went down the flap indicator goes up therefore telling the pilot that the flaps were down.

There was another error as well, cant remember where now, perhaps it was the B25 cockpit anyway the RPM indicator states its the RPH indicator.

Yak~3 had fuel tank guages on the wings...sorry they come first. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Know your flap setting. Problem Solved. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Just change H to M in your mind. Problem Solved. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Fixing things is sooo easy, I am really good at this, Ace Fixer I am. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

All well and good knowing my flap settings but in a spitfire you only have up or down and if i am damaged how am i to know that they are down when i want them to be? Thats of course with HUD and everything else turned off. If Hud were on it would say 'Flaps damaged/up/down whatever' and i would know from that message.

"Change H to M in your mind"

No one likes a smart *** Lexx.

Theres just no need for such obvious mistakes, what do you Beta testers do with your time, perhaps they should enlist some Beta testers who have knowledge of the real world and how aircraft look and operate, assuming of course that these glitches were overlooked by the betas, if however they were picked up its just the game producers letting go of their 'we must be accurate motif'

With flaps in full landing position, your Spit will Shake like the 57mm cannon experimental version of Yak~3T, flown one time, by A.B. Yumashyev, bless his soul. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

You already knew this, so we make Fun of you, like you make Fun of Beta testers.

Such minor details would be neat to have though, like fuel tank guage on Yak~3 wings, which came first before the Spit of course. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

yes, shake like the Yak 3T, but not quite as much as a P 38 with only .50s firing..be sure

I'm glad you said it. When your flaps are in one position or another you certainly know it. Even with aircraft that can use the 'combat' position, there is a distinct attitude change of your plane. So the one of two extreme positions is quite a no-brainer.

The comment about the beta testers amuses me to no end though.

can hardly wait....IXs and VIIIs already can follow my Jug through 800kph+ easily in a dive...without compressing....and further, my Jug can continue that same dive through 1000kph...neither ship will at any time compress...poor Kelly Johnston must be rollin at 1000rpm in his grave, the 38 totally compresses at 620kph? 640 kph? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Missing feature? Well it must be the energy loss due to violent manuvers (doesnt happpen, you have to be a ****** to lose energy in it), or that rocket aceleration fix? Maybe the most important missing feature is not simplified Ai FM for this AC. Ai and players look and feel the same in this plane. On other AC you can notice the difference between bots and humans.

The Spitfire had a much higher critical mach than the P-47D27, ergo the P-47 suffered from compressibility issues earlier than the Spitfire.
If you are, like I suspect, referring to the Spitfires ability to withstand high airspeeds, I disagree. The P-47D27 can dive much faster in-game as it could in real life.

262 jabo's where ordered not to bomb below 4000metres. that made them pretty ineffective, but later changed i think...

german soliders where very afraid of rocket typhoons from all accounts http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

and, alot of germans where scared of mossie, gestapo, SS, high command, night and heavy fighter units...

btw me262 was used to intercept PR mossies over germany. unarmed, slower mossies still often made it back http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
mossie was more agile http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
