At the end of this video there is guncam footage of a (presumably soviet) fighter being attacked, however I wasn't able to identify it. Looks like a radial, that would probably mean an La-5/7.

Your thoughts, could that be an La-5?

I think its a Mig or a Lagg-3 because it looks similar to a 109 more than a La-5/7. The engine cowling looks like that of a Lagg-3 more than anything.

This video shows why kill claims sometimes don't agree with "official" loss records. We can't decide exactly what it is even after viewing the video time after time.

I belive I see a 360 degree canopy not a razorback type of fuselage, which with in-line engine makes the plane a later Yak.

I think most like Messerschmitt but could be wrong.

LaGG-3 or (less likely) MiG-3. Given the movie's context (Hans Phillip, Bf 109 F - Winter 41/42) only these two aircraft types make sense.
