View Full Version : UBI to Oleg - let's finish this sucker so we can all move on

We all know Oleg is moving on to new projects soon.

We've all seen the excitement Oleg's work and future plans have always had. We've drooled over FB shots from long long ago...

Now, there's a funny quiet surrounding this sim and UBI's future plans (or lack of) for it.

My theory is that FB is nearing the end of its development and that UBI wants that end to arrive sooner than later.

Think about it. If there were plans for more new exciting stuff they'd be baiting us with it and we'd be drooling.

You drooling? I'm not.

hmmm. i assumed you would have seen that anyway but here is an extract

"Also I will tell on the next week our closest plans in development and releases."

so is one day next week judgement day? - when the seeds for the end of the FB community as we know it will be sown ?? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

also dex - i'm not having a go at you here - but are you intending to cover the whole of page 1 with old and new threads about how useless ubi and cartix are ?

Why would that be? We know 1C are contracted for some more sims, not just WWII:RTS, one of which is the (presumed) Med expansion for FB.

Next week is going to be interesting. 50 bucks says FB will be announced as having no more forthcoming major development beyond a specific "last punch".

It would explain why UBI hasn't commented (getting legal side sorted?) and also why Oleg is being nice enough to share in that thread yet tight-lipped enough not to let the final cat out of the bag.

Personally, I'll follow Oleg wherever he goes gladly.

WWII:RTS may be more important than we realize.

I've noticed the Operation Flashpoint, and Battlefield 1942 are still selling at full retail. Personally, I don't own either, but there is definitely an interest. My first thoughts would have been the Battlefield 42 thing would have been a quick shot, and fast dump from retailers shelves. Not So /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif There is even a paid add-on to it out already. How long has it been out?

Face it, if the FMB was improved and you added some people objects...the IL2-FB would have a lot of RTS twang to it.

Dex is addressing important issues here, RBJ.

Have you got anything positive to contribute?

If not, then can you follow your own advice, please?

Anyway he has been warned.

RBJ, this is not spam. I have issues with UBI and the sooner they actually surface the sooner I can quit it. Don't be mad at me.

Oh, and who warned me, and for what? I'm PRO community and not here to wreck it. Just ignore my posts if you don't like them. They're here for a reason.

I`ve noticed the difference.Month or two after FB release screenies were flying all around the forum.

If we talk about ca$h,then UBI will wait with new stuff for FB,so we,forgotten FB community, will tell everyone to buy FB because of new stuff coming up soon(UBI keeps us aware that new stuff will be soon but doesn`t know when this "soon" is).

Imagine we get 50 new FB customers before the patch. The patch would be released in august(probably end of it)and the community will be bursting with adrenaline.FB would gain another 50 users in the first month after the release.

Now Oleg said the addon will be soon.So we rant yada yada about it and another set of customers buys FB,cuz they`d know(we`d tell them) than addon will be soon.UBI makes a decision and addon comes out for Christmas.

As a FB customer I can`t say UBI provides good user support, but I can`t say they don`t know how to make money either.

I don't know. I see:

UBI in a "let's not promise anything more since we may not be able to deliver" legal position (ie. lawyers told them to stop talking)

and

Oleg wrapping up items in a contractual agreement so he can move on, but still wanting to apprise us of things while working with his hands tied until things are done and UBI posts the official word.

This is what I see...

That's what I see too Dexmeister but I don't mind as much as you do.
I don't know what sort of future support you feel you need and deserve for FB but there's two things I want.
Make that one!
I want it to be as bug free as Il-2 was.
It was a nice experience, very enjoyable, never feeling I was missing something much.
The second would have been the add-on but, as much I may welcome it, it's not necessary for me as much as a patch is.
My joystick gave the ghost a couple of weeks ago and I haven't gone out to buy a new one till the patch comes out.
I don't want any more of 'throttle fidling' in German a/c, weak 30 mm cannons, alien pre-1930 warplanes, bad landing procedures etc etc.
I want to start the game proper again and will cope with minor annoyances but the major stuff should be fixed and then I'll move on.
If they give me that I'll never regret the money I spent on it.

Interesting post. Perhaps FB is more like Poltergeist II?

Could this really be true? I find that Oleg seems like a reasonable fellow to be making the game and all. Hopefully this will all get worked out sooner or later.

You are correct. If I am not drooling then something is wrong. Sadly, looks like thius sim is coming to an end. Your doomsday prophesies may indeed be true.

i got the feeling UBI/Maddox is in transition in not supporting FB no more, since Oleg's WWII RTS almost ready..

Yes I have a feeling Oleg's WW@ RTS could be cutting into the FB development time. Let's just hope FB get the kind of support it deserves.

Could this be the end of FB? Only time will tell. I know that something is in the works for sure, only problem is I don't know what. If indeed it is true that FB support is in the process of slowly tapering off then I think it is a matter that should cause great concern. But then again, maybe it means a better WW2 sim is right around the corner? Who knows.

well i dont know but considering how active this forum is one would think they at UBI should be minding this sim more than what is being sugested here
