I never visited this forum until now. Always went to PF. But it seems that everything you need to know or want to ask about the sim can be found here. Which begs the question: Why did PF exist in the first place. I mean it was really a great forum but so is this. Seems kinda redundant which is probably why PF has disappeared.

Dunno. People often asked for them to be merged but never happened. I prefered to hang out here cos I like the colours better and it seemed more active.

Yeah, I like the colors also. Gosh, I'm fickle. I like this forum as much if not more than PF, no offense to anybody. My only problem now is whether to post questions in "Community help" or "General discussion". Maybe I'm missing something but they do kinda seem interchangeable.

It's very simple. I don't know why it's over complicated

Pacific Fighters can be owned and played 100% seperately from any other incarnation of Il2:Forgotten Battles

Therefore, specific issues can arise in Pacific Fighters, such as the omission of maps, planes, skins, and campaigns compared to every other incarnation of the sim

The Pacific Fighters Forum is a place for those who play PF merged but also have the standalone version installed, or those who have only the standalone version

Pacific Fighters was also in it's conceptualisation *not* supposed to be an add-on to FB. It was supposed to be seperate, no merge possible

So it got it's own forum

Actually, it's a little more complicated then that, and no doubt even more so then what I could speculate at...

As PF came out, there was talk about dumping "General Discussion" or possibly if it could be used as a purely OT. forum like cwos. As BBB426 eludes to, there was also the aspect that PF could be a stand alone product vs. merged, hence the amount of information here simply un-needed.unrelated to much of that product.....Yet be sure, IL2FB was the outdated product, and this forum was the one to be shifted to much of what it has become.

Sad thing is the PF forum for the most part stayed very Pacific related....In kind threads tended to be more serious, some with vast amounts of info while here 60% could be circular filed.......Hence why "General" was looking at going away.

So, glad it's happening?......OK, fine, I'll go along with that....Except for the loss of numerous informative threads that held books worth of information.....Lets do it, lets merge the forums, and to that end I'd like to ask this....

Mods, would you please try and make it more of a point to hard core lock and delete OT threads and grant vacations to those doing nothing yet disrupting threads in this forum?

There are a number of factual, informative and historical topics to be discussed, and we don't need them derailed or the serious posters hassled by the band-o-fools.

Thank you.

(be careful of what you wish for PF forum haters, the above is why PF existed)

There's two forums just so you can come here and ask why.

Oh yeah, right!!! You call that simple? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Not for the simple minded, of which I'm a proud, card carrying member of. Actually the subtlety is interesting.

I'll come here when I need an expert's advise. Besides I don't have much to offer, except never ending questions.

PF side has no use no more everything is a double of the general side. Time to fuse both.
Mixing both will enlarge some about certain planes..

agree........

With no more General discussion OT foolishness and deliberate disruption.

All for it, shut one down and put the hammer down here. Very pleased with the idea.

Some of my favorite discussions here have been OT...and what about "Bill & John"? Great funny video - but it was made with Lock On...should it go too? I'm in here 5+ times a day, even more when an active thread is going...if we lost the OT's I think the flavor of the forum as a whole would be pretty bland. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

The forum aint meant to be fun

It's meant to be about proving the 109 could outturn the Spitfire.

You mean like people who post half naked pictures of themselves?

OT is the colloquial term for "Other Testicle" and is used when you need to signal your partner to switch.

Billfish, we are mostly men. Anything in a conversation not about ourselves nor our hobbies is OT and frowned upon. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
