There are over 60 of them in the cockpit of the P-39.

The way the cockpits move around, the shake of turbulence, the way the gun sight gets off-center in maneuvers, the kick when you fire cannons. Okay, maybe that's not all just detail...

People speaking to me in Russian.

The way the terrain matches the in-flight map.

The soldiers running from their vehicles when strafed.

The cockpit noises.

Just thinking off the top of my head here.

The way pilots wear oxygen masks over certain altitudes.

The way that the fog/mist lies along the rivers in the morning.

I'm still finding these little gems as I play more. Love it

How´s the oxygen mask thing? You mean that when you take off, the pilot doesn´t wear it, and at certain altitude, he puts it on?

Yes. I heard that even I-16 pilots puts the O mask when climbing above 3000???Or is more , don't know for sure the altitude.

One of the very small details which kills me is when you fire Jug rockets. You can see trough the fired tubes , but not from the one not fired. Seriously , who will notice that , or who will care about it? I was inspecting my new paint and found this hole. Fired another round and 2 empty tubes. Pretty cool.
Another detail which I found it really cool is the chain reaction when you hit a fuel truck. The way it propagates makes me happy everytime. and do not forget about the trains. I have posted here a track while straffing a train. I was coming from the rear of the train and start firing all guns while heaaded toward the engine. Once satisfied , leveled out but I was still above the train , something like 50-80 m. And RIGHT IN THAT MOMENT a car or the engine exploded. As I had the headphones with few notches more , I fell off the chair and I DO NOT JOKE! Luckily nobody noticed otherwise you can imagine what my ears had to hear! Man , I am always amazed , frustrated , you name it! by this sim. I think this is simply the best!

I loved it when I discovered you can go in and see 3D in the FMB including weather effects, and rotate the objects. I also like that the artillery has to face in the right direction to fire.

One day I went in a coop. Picked a random one since i was somehow tired of DF rooms furballs. Was a server with the date set somewhere in 41 so i picked up an IL2 first model, just for the fun of it. I was expecting to be ashes in few minutes. But to my greatest surprise , i reached the objective , waste the ground targets and headed for home following leader orders. Was a PE_ squadron. On our way back we were humped by a bunch of emils and to mee seemed that they were rookies coz I downed one in my IL. Same day , I tried a QMB with the same plane when what I said earlier happened. Since that day , I fly 99.99% only the jug.Not the IL2. But indeed , I'm quite a mudmover myself. However , I don't mind entering furballs.

I like to hear the clock ticking when you sit in the cockpit with the engine off.

Also, someone once posted here (over a year ago I think) about crash landing in water near a ship and being able to see the ship's propeller rotating as it sailed past...

In FMB I was taxiing my emil through a village (as you do) and noticed that the little sheds (i.e. toilets) had moon shaped holes cut into the doors...lol.

I love to see debries dropping in the water long after an explosion.

I love to land at nite at a strip lightened up with bonfires and how the cockpit lights up when u pass over them.

When u look in your rearview mirror and ask your wing over RW to blink with landinglights u will see it instantly and exact.

Actually there are little hearts cut into the doors /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Saw them, when I hit one with my P47 - yes, I was VERY low /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The details are awesome.

besides that, I like the detailed skins and the detailed damage effects, especially to the engine.

The bombers in IL2FB are just cool, but what I love even more: The weight of the aircrafts. When you taxi with a P47, you'll notice how the suspension gives in under the weight. Same on landing. This is just cool!

Explosion and debris effects onto other objects. I was flying an ME 262 near a Soviet bomber with the 5000 lb bomb. I knew it still had not dropped it so I started to shoot the tail off but somehow hit the bomb and ignited it, the explosion was so huge that the sonic blast alone broke off my wings and tail and microseconds later the explosive reaction pushed off / slow downed my aircraft and it's extreme heat immediatelly set my two engines and fuel tank on fire. I was lucky to parachute out of my fighter.

Sound of the wind when you fly an open canopy fighter.

The wind turbulence when you fly through clouds.

The strut and shocks sound when you taxi around.

The pilots movind their head while they track their enemy.

Ship wakes.

Airplanes with self sealing fuel tanks when they are hit you can see the fuel spray out for a moment and then stop.

On some 109's when they are hit on the engine it splaters oil onto your windshield

Lightning effect and sounds during a thunderstorm.

The sound of raindrops onto your plane chasis during a rain storm

Coastal wave effects that can only be seen at low altitudes just like in reality.

Speaking of debris, the shrapnel just after a flak round explodes is often briefly visible.

This is a great thread.... IL2:FB has SO many wonderful and ground-breaking details in terms of Simulations, it is good to see that many of us enjoy the Positives, rather than those on this forum who coantantly see only negatives.

One of my favorites/surprises came as I was attempting to land an FW190, in bad weather, with only one wheel down...just as I was about to touch down, a Flash of Startling lightning illuminated the Cockpit..truly a shocking surprise!! I thought for a split second something had exploded and I was about to be Dead! I did make a small film of the landing, but should also have 'saved' on 'film' the Cockpit Flash!

One night I was flyin on a server w cockpit on + externals and plock.

As i was able to take a peek on enemy i was ware about a Bf approachin my base.

He was approachin quit high and therefore i tried to gain altitude by setting trim and circling at best climb speed above my base.

The enemy Bf made a long shallow dive towards base and therefore ended beneath me. I saw him shoot at respawners down there and begun a dive towards him.
By accident I pulled the knob for gear down - airslip tored the right gear of before i reacted on it.

Oh well I begun the dive and somebody wrote in chat window:
S hit!!! Where did that come from??(IT WAS MY TEAR OF GEAR!!)

Not takin notice of that I made my way down towards enemy - locatin him down below with smoke comin out of his nose.
When i got closer I saw his engine was dead and he tried to make a forcelanding. I zoomed on him and shot his wing of at low altitude.(The Vulcher in me woke up and the dewil on my shoulder told me: KIll, KILL, Kill muahahahahah!!)

Afterwards we chatted with eachother laughin at the awesomnes of it.

So now, crowd of these forums, I hereby declare my self as the exployer of the GEARKILL!!...LOL.

My next exploit will propably be the gear on the slider gadget.
