Lots of goodies -including swastika enabler - here:

Not much gore to be had, I'm afraid.

Louis-

there's no 'patch' for gore or to enable correct Finnish and German markings

As Low flyer has mentioned, Airwarfare has what you're looking for in the realm of enabling correct markings

The swastika is already present in your sim, but is disabled, by the way

As far as setting 'gore', I don't know who has been talking to you, or what you think high gore settings do, but there is a line in your conf file, in your game folder

under the heading, [game],
you need to have highgore set. Like this:

[game]
Arcade=0
HighGore=1
mapPadX=0.6894531
mapPadY=-0.040364582
viewSet=32
Intro=0
NoSubTitles=0
NoChatter=0
NoHudLog=0
NoLensFlare=0
iconTypes=3
eventlog=eventlog.lst
eventlogkeep=0
TypeClouds=1
3dgunners=1
SubTitlesLines=1
ClearCache=1

And that's the most gore you're going to get

Is the Swastika on/off in there, too?

no theres no swastikas in IL2, though you can get matmanager which will enable correct markings, its a 3D party program

I believe Chuck older is the correct one. There are several small programs that will activate historical markings on LW aircraft. IL2 manager 5.0 and stab are just 2.

Matmanager simply adds new better-looking markings.

To clarify:

I have used two programs, at two different times:

1) hackenkreuz
2) Il2 Shturmovik Stab

these will allow you to enable swastikas, they are not 3rd party markings; they are applied by the sim and will disappear if markings are turned "off" in the QMB for example

Il2 Shturmovik Stab also lets you do a lot of other things, I recommend it highly

In response to an earlier question:

no, you cannot enable swastiksas in the conf file

It only works in the original "Il-2 Sturmovik." All the blood -- which only showed on about four planes anyhow -- was taken out for "Forgotten Battles." In my experiments I only saw the blood appear on the He-111's bombardier position. I could make it appear even by attacking from the bomber's 6 o'clock position. The top gunner, on the other hand, seemed invulnerable to direct hits. (Note: the swastikas are enabled in the above shot via the Hakenkreuz file. Hakenkreuz (il2hk.exe) basically acts as a replacement il2.exe and after you put it in your game folder you can make a new desktop shortcut to it. The file works in FB/PF as well as IL-2 Sturmovik.)

I thought the gore on the MBR-3 was much more interesting:

The blood also appears on the exterior of the Bf-109F-4 in "IL-2 Sturmovik" but again was removed as a feature in "Forgotten Battles."

There, you go. Now move along, there's nothing to see here ... let's keep this area clear and let the medics do their job ... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The latest IL2 Mat Manager will enable hackencross.

For the life of me, I can't really understand the whoopla over blood in games. There are other games who do without any blood whatsoever, yet the "death sequence" or "death shiver" is more un-nerving than copius amounts of red goo. Frankly, they shoulda kept the 'gore' in as it is cool.

Il2 STAB is a brilliant program especially if you fly offline. Everyone should have it.

Personally though i prefer to also run Il2 mat to get the markings looking better (stab can enable the built in markings but they are too bright). The two programs run fine together.
