hey guys,

Im thinking of buying a widescreen laptop and I wanted to know if PF will run ok or if it will become distorted and unusable on widescreen resolutions. Thanks for your help,

I run it on my 20.1 LCD Widescreen at 1024x768 just fine.

yes, but you run it in 1024x768.

i have a 1280x800 laptop too (or something like that, vaio widescreen) and it does run of course, but in 1024x768 which doesn't look gr8.

Then set your resolution to what you want.

Natively, it doesn't it doesn't support widescreen but I disagree that it doesn't look great at 1024x768. It does support 1280x860. I, personally find widescreen resolutions great for movies but distort the picture for games.

Unless you like distorted (flatened) circles and images you should always stick to resolutions that respect the 4/3 ratio, that is 1.33
For instance 1600*1200, 1280*960, 1024*768
Take the firs figure (1600) divide it by the second one (1200) and you get 1.33
etc...

I suppose you are thinking about a 15.1 laptop and not WWSensei's huge 20.1 LCD. You will have no distortions and no flattened circles. The problem is that the game will try to fit its 1024x768 resolution in the available 1280x800. In fact what it will do is use 768 of the 800 and 1024 of the 1280 pixels making use only of around 80+% of your monitor, and consequently your 15.1 monitor will function as a 12 one.

I may be wrong in the figures (perhaps it will use all 800 of 800 and 1024*800/768 = 1067 of the 1280 pixels. In either case, you'll lose your sight trying to see the enemies http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif.

Now if you plan to buy a gigantic laptop then that's another story, but i bet you don't.
