Hey guys I'v been reading these forums for about 7 month's now and it's become apparent that there's a few guys(or gals) here who either play music of some sort or play in bands.

So i thought i'd see how many of us muso's are lurkin here http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I myself play in a band called Skarden(the name makes more sense now eh) in Cairns Australia,we play around the night clubs and try and get any support's for bigger bands that come up here and we'v been lucky to get a few good ones wich im always pretty stoked to play(although any time i get to play puts a smile on my face http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif)

we have a web site and here's the link if you care to check it out

skarden.com (http://www.skarden.com/page.asp?action=bio)

it's stil a work in progress and the drummer is the only person who can update it and in true drummer form he hasnt done a great deal with it but if i keep buggin him about it hopefully he'll do something to shut me up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gifalthough im gunna do a myspace bandsite so i can do stuff with it.

If your in a band pls feel free to post here about anything at all eg. bands, gear, fav bands whatever you like.
maybe we good all learn something from each other or even just hook up with some like minded ppl

cheers

I'm a blues/rock guitarist seemingly forever doomed to be between bands due to the difficulty of finding 3 other people who are

i) into the right kind of music
ii) not already in a band or otherwise too busy
iii) reasonably good
iv) free at the same times as me
v) not complete freaks

To be honest, after the B/S I took from the last band (who suddenly quit less than a week before a gig for no obvious reason leaving muggins here to play a hastily modified set with a stand-in bassist and a drum machine http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif ) I'm somewhat disillusioned with the whole process!

But in a week or two the allure of The Dream will overcome the memories of bitter experience and I'll be back at it again trying to find like minded people to jam with.

I've been known to play a certain type of flute on occasion yet often resort to my old standard of "hand to the armpit and flap like a chicken" to show off my musical ability. Past that I'm a musical tard http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

After growing up a metal guy i kinda mocked the banjo until i found a dvd of a band Called "bella fleck and the flektones".not the coolest name i know but MAN CAN THAT GUY PLAY! he can shred faster then most metal player's and then do a classical piano piece by himself and make it sound unbeliveable http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

If you ever see it i highly recomend you grab it and prepared to be blown away by some really amazing playin(that goes for any one who loves watchin a great musician do his thing)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hey boss man, I went 5 string a couple of years ago. I got a couple of Ibanez's, an Anderson Custom and a Heartfield DRC-5. All the rest are 4 stringers. Love that low "B". Gotta have it.

hey worf had a listen to some of your track's
some very groovy stuff to be sure http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I'v never understood how bass players can play and sing at the same time, havin to play the bass, listen to the drums, think about the lyrics and then sing them in pitch http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gifcrazy!!

My bass player plays a yamaha TRB 6 string and that thing is just nuts!you really dont get an idea of how large those necks are till you get your mits around one,of course i got girly little hands so that doesnt really help things much but still I really got no idea how he play's it.

damm Bearcat!a 78' jazz eh, must be a joy to play,my old boss at the music shop i used to work at had an 80's model and that was damm nice,i bet the 78' just oozes warmth. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I used to listen to Bela Fleck lots when he played in a band called Newgrass Revival. He is one of the premier players right now. His music tends to be a bit "far out" for me, but he can do things on the banjo that I can only dream of.

I did a few years ago, only in a couple of student pubs though. Really not very proffesional sounding. We had some quite good songs though (no covers), just not polished enough, and playing with people who couldn't handle their instruments too well....very frustrating. I played guitar.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
