Ok now i compare two different games but i think that it mostly depends on how good a game is programed rather than just having a über computer

I thought "Dragon Age" would kill my computer but it runs smooth like watter and looks stunning, old "Neverwinter Nights 2" is more demanding on my computer and it is from 06 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

It looks better then most of the pre rendered stuff we see in Dogfights and the like to my eye.
Incredible.
And still work in progress.

I'm so eager to see what the new FX system looks in all it's dynamic, diffuse lighting gorgeousness.

I hear ya Uther! I am still patiently waiting though. All these mod packs are really showing my machines age right now and it is tempting to upgrade, But I shall wait. Funny how I can still play 4.09m without trouble though! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

I wonder what one will need to play this game at decent settings? Anyone has an idea, because i too would not like to play at minimal settings...

No way i can play this game with the AGPX8 card and P4 2.8 i have at the moment. I already beginns to suck with some IL2 mods (maps, AAA) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

All I can say is Ohhhh Mamma!

And NewEgg here I come!

Minimum spec would be appreciated. This is about the ONLY thing that would make me go to a top of the line Intel processer if that's all that would run it. And probably not even then. Do you think its coded for multi-processor use or would a AthlonII run her?

Oleg wont release recomended system specs yet but he did comment on the rig he was using to make the screenshots and it was actually quite modest.

The post is over on the banana forum from about a month back if anybody remembers it and cares to post the link.

At least the modern intel and amd stuff overclocks really easy.
I would guess a quad overclocked up to around 4Ghz,4-6 GB's ram,and a 5850 or similar to be able to turn some of the eye candy on in a mission.

Yes, but with IL2 a low-end PC can get great screenshots. The problem is that when you try and play the game with those settings, you get a slide show of those screenshots.

I do understand his reluctance to release hardware specs. If he would do that, then something changes between now and the release, then there might be a lot of people upset that they have underpowered rigs.

Hopefully it will be multithreaded to better take advantage of multicore chips.

Wow they look great! So how long was it in original IL2 development that weekly updates came out before release ?No chance of a Christmas release I presume -although Oleg has surprised us -and at Christmas too(or was that an unauthorised employee release, that patch ?)
I reckon its got to be a September 15 release otherwise for BOB 60th anniversary....
A minor gripe !Why do they never use antialiasing in their screenshots!?

Oleg said at the banana forum that he hoped to be flying a few of the new planes with Ilya (in the game) in the spring. So I don't think we are anywhere near release at the moment.
After that he needs to fine tune, test with different systems, adjust flight models, weather models, have others test it etc.

With all the variables in this new game I don't see it coming out until this time next year.

Oleg has stated (at the banana forum in the screenshot discussions) that the game HAS to be released next year due economic constraints.
He simply can't wait any longer.

I think we will see it toward the end of the year 2010.

PC specs aside, the screenshots are beyond what I was imagining, just as I said years ago.
If a single screenshot looks this good, what does it look like in full motion? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I do agree with this.
Oleg has shown us how much he can get done per each compute cycle in the past.
Il2 isn't some huge resource hog like some other combat flight sims I know of.
The power Il2 uses is PUT to good use.
I am sure the same, and even better, will apply for BoB.

It would be silly to upgrade now, 8-12 months off.. If you are only into IL-2 and SOW, would be a huge waste of money.

Amazing pics. The first pic of the road surrounded by trees makes me once again wonder.....will motor vehicles drive into the woods when attacked? That would be very kool to see that and you trying to press on with the attack.

I've been playing Il2 on an Athlon 700, Athlon 2.2ghz singlecore and intel 2.4 duocore over the last 8 years. Built the last two riggs myself. 2x8800gts, got that 2 years ago when I thought SOW was right around the corner. I'm just going to wait untill it comes out. Then wait another 6 months and get whatever is one step below the latest and the greatest from Nvidia, AMD/Intel and enjoy this thing of ours in SLI/ Eyfinnity style on 3x22 inch monitors. Say about a year and a half from now all the kinks are hopefully worked out. The wife's allready warned so bring it on. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

I'm looking forward to putting a new PC together for BoB, but I'll definitely wait until its out and proven.

Heh, my laptop can't even run full cloud and environment realism without a lot of slowdown in IL-2. This is pretty much out of the question on anything but minimum settings >:/

Did the planes really look all dusty like that when they were new? It looks just like the color photos I see of WWII plane cockpits but they are taken 60 years after the war.

In a war things get worn out quickly. Especially if the paint wasn't of the best quality, it would start chipping in a matter of days. This applies more to Japanese and Italian kites.

Consider that IL2 could run on an Athalon XP-1600 / P-III and yet you can still tweak it so that it looks absolutely incredible on top of the line rigs of today. I think you will be fine and most of us will be surprised.

The latest update is on the 1C forum.

I'm impressed with the DX 9 renders. I can't imagine how good DX 11 will look.

Very impressive details, love the new pilots. I'm quite optimistic that this sim will run better than most people seem to think. If anyone here plays RoF they will know that plenty of eye candy is possible if a sim is well optimized. I've just downloaded the new 1.009 update for RoF and the visuals are nothing short of spectacular. I'm really looking forward to Storm of War.
