I mostly play coops where points dont matter, objectives, keeping yourself and wingmen alive are all that matter. I do however enjoy the DF but treat them as practice. I voted for fun but really sometimes seeing points beside your name can also be fun. I must admit though that I am a low scorer http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Voted BOTH. I tell myself I play for fun. I take off, fly to the action and have a strained giggle when some -109 downs me. After a while, I check the scores and say "Grrr...I need to have more fun!" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I play for fun.. I dont even know how to tell how many points I have or how it works. Does the system save them from session to session? Do they accumulate or do you loose them when you log off? Who sees them? What does it prove? Why bother?
I just want to have a good time... I do mostly coops anyway. When I go into a DF server it's usually just to hang out....

Who cars about points. I just like wachen other plane's blow up, wings rip off or something like that when i fire off my amo.

I could care less about points. I dont head back to base unless im out of amo or shot up to the point where i cant manuver enough to fight.

Since i'm too chicken to venture onto a server, I don't care.

I just want to crash!

I play for fun. It just happens to abund in VEF and VOW, which are point-based. But I don't care about the points there at all.

Points/schmoints!
I fly for the fun of it and the thrill of the (virtual) kill. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif
The only reason I ever hit the 'S' button is to quickcheck my ping and see who's flying on which side.

"Modern aircraft are designed to carry a man and a dog. The man's job is to feed the dog. The dog's job is to bite the man if he touches anything."

both. I play because its fun, but I like seeing xxx has been shot down by :FI:Aflak on the chat monitor . . because it lets the other players on the server get an idea as to my skill. In a similar vein, if I see eight "PlayerA has shot down your friend" in as many seconds, I will be VERY cautios engaging that pilot. And I will know to run for alt if he turns his sights upon me.

And I HATE boom-zooming enemies in my Jug or Frank . . and after I kill some of their controls, smoke their motor, open every fuel tank on their plane, etc. only to watch an La-7 or Yak-3 pull onto my target's tail and rip off a wing. Then the server awards them credit for accomplishing what amounts to poking a squirell that has just been run over by a semi, while I am awarded nothing, left only to look down upon the carrion-birds (for when booming and zooming . . when I'm not fireing I'm zoom-climbing) and to curse them so that their immortal souls will spend eternity with the Prince of Insufficient Light as their only companion. Grrr.

adn it ESPECIALLY makes me angry when I hit 's' and see the carrion-eater has in excess of 1000 points.

Generally, when that happens, I switch sides and hop in a Frank, for not even an La-7 can outperform a Frank.

What's it gonna be?
Personally I play for both, I enjoy the game and love the flying experience but also like to monitor my score to see how I'm doing on a server.

I play to kill http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Jk

Im like you kinda bolth

Explain your vote.

Would be interesting to see how many people actually care about the scoring system.

Thanx

It's all about the teamwork online - whether in a DF server or a coop.

Who cares who gets the kill as long as we're sending the best of the OKL into the dirt?

I play to kill yaks, DIE YAKS DIE!

Russian aircraft require skill to fly.
German aircraft require ten times that skill, and one hundred times the patience!

Basically, I play for points. Because that's how other people can see how good an ace I really am. (Gosh, somebody should replace RBJ while he is gone yes? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

But if it isn't fun, I leave the server. No matter how many kills I got, or can get. Why should you continue playing if you are not having fun?

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge,
ye shall be judged: and with what
measure ye mete, it shall be measured
to you again.

I don't take much notice of the points system because I don't think it's very good to be honest.

I just love the satisfaction of seeing the smoke billow from my victim as he spirals to his doom.

Never for points and I actually don't care if I'm ace or not LOL!
Answer: for FUN, but I take it seriously (I know it's weird combo..)

Altitude, speed, manoeuvre and.... CRASH!

I'd have to say both. When I fly my IL2 out through a net of fighters and AAA, nail a couple tanks and limp home, I like something to show for it.

However, I have just as much fun getting my tail shot off!

Fun is very important. Points mean nothing to me. The quality of each kill is what really counts to me. The setup, the attack, and finally finishing my foe off. So if I have a low point total but good quality kills and Im having fun, I am happy.....S!

points, blah... one thing i have seen lately that is cool is one of my squad mate, nj26_capricon has a server out there that keeps track of stats, this includes kills, who killed u, ships, safe landings, bails and crashes etc... its rather neat to see who racks up the kills and who they killed by name and who killed them... its something like ww2 server..
