The current patch is 4.09m but that will not work for you without buying and patching several addons including pacific fighters, PE2, manchuria and 1946.

You are going to be far better off spending a few dollars to get the "all in one" IL2 1946 on DVD or purhase a downloadable copy of Il2 1946 as its only about $10 these days and Il2 1946 includes all previous patches up to 4.07. Then you only need to patch with 4.08m and 4.09m

Sorry m8. Can't give you details or links for Mods. Against Forum rules. But you can Google il2 mods and get all the info you need.

After you install IL-2 1946 (that's version 4.07m), you'll need to patch up with 4.08 and 4.09 which is the current official version that great majority has. After that UltraPack 2.01 is probably the most popular addon, it adds a monumental amount of goodies (new maps, planes, ships, weapons etc...) and brings effects up to new level. It's not allowed to discuss mod places here, however googling "Ultrapack 2.01" should bring you to the right place http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

As for individual mods, I'd mention the "Special Aircraft Service" (google is your friend) site - there you can find a lot of goodies that are not included in Ultrapack yet, like flyable Kyushu J7W for example.
