I finally had the time to buy this game and was amazingly excited... downloaded from Steam... and yay.

Got to start it and horrible... looks like I am having major grpahics problems. Basically haldf of what should be on the screen is not ... it is all black and white...looks like half the textures are not there.

I know it is not my system ( alienware aurora with 9MB or RAm and a ATI 5870 (especialy since I just got down playin Crysis 2, DeadSpace2 and Dragon Age2 at high settings. I have updated drivers (just updated a week agho actually) and it is not like this is some backwater copy...
any thoughts?

Are you conflicting any in-game settings with ATI's Control Panel/CCC ? Have you forced Anti-Aliasing under ATI's Control panel/CCC ? Try to set it to the 'Use application settings' box. What about the in-game AA/Multisampling setting ? Is it enabled or disabled ?

Does this happen only at one particular Gameplay scene, or through the entire game ? Which Game PROFILE are you using under ATI's CCC ? Just make sure you don't use any other profile by mistake, while playing AC:B......

Give this a try.....Under ATI's CCC (Catalyst Control Center), try increasing the value of 'Mipmap Detail Level' setting, under the 3D section. Move/increase the slider to the right side to QUALITY mode, and then check the in-game graphics. If you increase the value of 'Mipmap Detail Level', then the Textures should look more detailed/sharp.

Also make sure all the settings under 3D section (e.g. Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering etc.), are first set to the 'Use application settings' option. Also click on the 'Standard Settings' Option, and move the slider all the way to the right, and set it to QUALITY Mode. Increase the slider to 'Quality' Mode.

And also 'disable' the setting Catalyst A.I for the time being. You can enable it later on. Just see if doing all this helps you or not ?

Btw, you can edit and remove the remaining part of your Dxdiag, after the 'Sound Devices', because it is not needed as of now. Have you also verified the Game Cache Files/GCF for Brotherhood, if necessary ?

Well I tried the above and it worked... not sure exactly what was causing the conflict since I was pretty beat and tried them all at once, but perhaps over the weekend I will have time to go back and try tone at a time to see fi I can isolate. Thanks for your help and patience!

Have you tried doing a FRESH re-install of the ATI drivers/Control Panel, if necessary ? Or you can also create a New Profile for AC:B under CCC.
