View Full Version : 'How to' change default aircraft skin in your campaign.

This is quite frequently asked and since I have just done that in some of my .db files, I posted this here as I realised it can be of some help to my fellow campaigner. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif


Open DGen folder (path:\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\DGen) and select/open appropriate map file with Notepad and add skin by typing exact skin name with .bmp (bitmap) extension next to desired plane. Skin must be in appropriate aircraft folder. See below;

Assigning default skin to specific squadron - marked in yellow
Assigning default skin to all planes on specific map - marked in red
Both skins are already placed in your appropriate skin directory.

If you do it right, your custom skin will appear correctly.

I'm a little confused... Does this work all through the campaign, or just for the immdediate mission? If it's for the whole campaign, then that's pretty cool.

its for the whole campaign, that use's that .db file. In this example when ever you then start a kursk campaign, they are the skins that will be used. I do this as well, makes it much more immersive for me. When i fly a dgen campaign, i alwasy edit this now before i start the campaign, friendlies and enemys http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Paul Lowengrin's DCG has a function in which you can assign whatever skin you want to AI planes as well as your own
