The Lerche fuel level is too low!
it will give you 300 liters only no matter if you select 100% fuel load.

Oh and the patch doesn't solve that.

Is it because that is the max loadout or a bug?

Possibly. 300 liters is quite a bit. The Lerche doesn't look like it has much space for a large fuel tank.

The Lerche was envisioned as a point defence interceptor much like the Me163. So range wasn't important.

Hmmm yeah maybe that is the reason why. Tho the darn fuel level gauge is misleading since it shows 120 x 100. The actual max fuel loadout is around 590L not 300 as I posted but the darn plane is a gas guzzler, the germans got their own cadillac.

With the Me-163 you can safe glide and land with the lerche EJECT if you run out of gas.

If anything, I'm surprised at just how much endurance/range it actually has. For the amount of power it has to produce, and having 2 engines, and it's take-off and landing method, I'd expect it to have a much shorter range.

Also, it seems a bit overpowered. Haven't tried this trick in 4.08, but in 4.071m if you slammed the throttles at take-off from 0m, and let it go until it stopped climbing (ie, ignored overheat), it would reach just over 8,000 meters - vertically.

Not only that, according to IL2 compare for 4.07, it would actually outclimb the Komet.

I think they overdid it just a touch in the power area. lol http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

The most overmodelled feature of the Lerche is the pilot's neck. No charts required. Be sure!

No, you don't need to eject. It's actually possible to land it on its "belly", the ring wing. You just have to be very careful when on the final aproach to belly-landing and (obviously) need to land on a flat, open place.
You can land it (nearly) just like the 163.

Another funny thing i found out: I was able to land the Lerche in the water and take off again (the Il-2 water is just some 1.5 meters or so deep). After waiting a while the thing even began to sink, if i waited too long, it would sink under the "sea-bottom" and i died, but even when sinking i could take off again. Seems like Oleg gave us a toy to REALLY see how IL-2 is put together.

The Lerches pilots were for one-time use only,so the "safe operating limits" of them could be ignored for their flight to the heavens http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

I tried to crashland once but since i was flying with all realism settings it blown up and i swear the crash speed was like 150 km/hr at 25 degrees angle.

I will try that BlitzPig_DDT, I have been playing with the fuel mix to see if I can make it last longer but the gain is not significant.
The speed is awesome i have to say and it is almost instant response as the komet. I think the engine is some sort of tubojet, isn't?

At least they didn't modelled it as a Bachem Ba 349B-1 Natter where you have to parachute after the mission is over.

LOL @ Klemm.co your post reminded me that guy asking for a flyable OKA. Who in his right mind will wanna play kamikaze? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Never tried to land and take off from water but sounds insteresting.

It's using 2 modified DB engines. The original spec supposedly could not produce sufficient thrust to lift off, so they boosted the engines a little. I think they overdid it just a bit though. lol

The most overmodeled feature of Lerche is its existence.
