I guess a boat sim requires a good graphics card so one gets that water http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

After reading a bit about u-boats and other vehicles I'm beginning to get more interested in this stuff.

Boats aren't that different from planes just a bit heavier and uglier, wich is fine by me.

Nahh, pure T&B http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif ... Not for me. and not for the spary and pray crowd around either. The'll have to learn to shoot, and not straight, mind you http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Part of Oleg's Team has or is helping out with the devolpment of KotS.
It shows with the quality of the modeling of the landscape and ship models.

Boats also tend to have much poorer dive characteristics

Well and they use the aircraft models from Maddox games IIRC. Does that mean that people will complain about the FM of the PBY in this naval sim? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Im so old.

I thought that it was about Knights of the Sky!

OMFG, if only SHIII had water and ship models like that, I would die!

Nice maybe I can sink Tirpitz, Scharnhorst and Bismarck with a torpedo boat.
I hope that the Torpedo boot is made of Delta wood.

I don€t know much about the Soviet fleet during WWII it was locked in the Leningrad harbour, Kronstadt most of the war and supported the ground-troops.
Marat was sunk by Rudel but was recovered?
The Baltic fleet supported the offensive of Karelian Isthmus.
Their Submarines sunk some ships with most civilians and wounded, like Wilhelm Gustloff, Steuben and others.
The Soviet fleet didn€t manage to stop the iron-ore transportation on the Baltic see between Sweden and Germany, they didnt show up in north sea, they didnt inflict in the Submarine-production and exercises in the Baltic See.
What did the Soviet navy do in the north Atlantic, Black Sea, Caspian see and the Pacific Ocean? They stayed out of the Tsushima straits this time but what did they in Sakhalin Island and Korea?
Did they try to sink Tirpitz and other "Kriegsmarine" kapital ships in the Alta-fiord and northern Norway?

Did they take part in supporting the ground offensive in the Baltic States, East Prussia, Poland and Germany, like the big RN and USN battleships did in Africa, Mediterranean, Normandy and Pacific?
I am most eager to fill my historical gap in WWII history.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif jugent... No Capital Ship's... one of the devolpers stated in a post at the site. Until they see how sales go and patch them in later on. Bummer!

I dont know why.. But Im really looking forward to this game.. I remember seeing a PT109 game back in the 286 days.. It was kind of neat! There has not been a good FPS like ship sim since TF1942 imho! Cant wait for this one!

Since it's by akella, it's probably a spin-off of the engine from sea dogs/pirates of the carribean/corsairs. Not realistic games, but they where very fun. Of course, since they have their source code and everything, the engine could be heavilly modified.

I read this game was canceled, PT Boats Knights of the Sea. It said it was canceled with the cancelation of Battlefield Command aka Wartime Command.

It takes no magic 8 ball to see the future of KOTS that it will not do well in sales, when are the ubi marketing fools going to realize these days you have to have land sea and air in one game to be successful the last couple of years.

It maybe would have did better if combined with SHIII/pt boats knights of the sea/ destroyer command online game.

Maybe oneyear ubi will wise up maybe 2007 and make multimillions like EA junk, less vechiles maps completely arcadish and buggy yet do so well in sales.

If ubi choose to they can make a land sea and air massive multiplayer game somewhat realistic and would do better in sales then wwii ol, joint ops, battlefield series.

The models look very well similiar to the il2 series models.

Here is another look at the water and waves...

I agree if they combine KotS with for say SH3... that would be Mint for some online action.

I have recently become very interested in the small boat and costal fleets war after reading Motor GunBoat 658. Its an excellent first hand account of the small boat war against Germany and Italy around the Meditteranean from 1943 until the close of hostilities.

The "dog boats" as the MGB was called mounted 1 six pounder, 1 twin 20mm Oerlikon, two single 20mm Oerlikons, one 40 mm pom-pom and two twin Vickers .303s. Crew of 30, top speed about 31 knots and 4 1500hp Packard Merlins.

The author was engaged in about 15 actions during the war and his boat accounted for 2 FW-190s, half a dozen German E-boats, one possible U-boat and tens of thousands of tons of Italian and German shipping.

ImpStarDuece... Sounds like some Very Good reading... I'll have to keep Motor GunBoat 658 in mind when I'm at the book store again.
You might want to check out the Knights of the Sea web page... they have some excellent video clips from the up coming game.

LeadSpitter_... I have both of the older SH2 and Destroyer Command and they are still pretty good games... but are now outdated.
Online you play againest either side SH2 or DC... I believe there is still a few players and Squadron's that play on line still.
But for right now the developers are waiting to see how the Game makes it on the market... they are planning more development if all go's well... as said in one of their interviews.
