1. visible blood+oil in the cockpit/window

2. bulletholes in the cockpit, visible through the outside view. Injured pilot could be shown injured from the outside view.

3. Fuel-leaks in the cockpit could be simulated as drowsiness or hallucations to the pilot. That could be fun.

4. Damaged radio+ engine failures without enemy fire would be realistic.

Well, actually, while those ideas may add immersion to the sim, you must realize that those depictions, however good or bad quality they are, will not only make the game unsellable (is that a word) in some
European countries, but also, on a more moral note:

It brings back memories for those veterans that choose to play this game. The idea of this game is not only to have an accurate depiction of WW2 air combat, but also for the buyer to have fun. If we put in all of this, sure, it makes it more realistic, but it also horrifies those vets who have experienced this traumatic situation. Therefore, the personal injuries in the cockpit I don't agree with. however, what I do agree with is that if you can see bullet holes from the inside of the cockpit, you should be able to see them from the outside as well.
