Thanks for the tip, I put the 4.7 atiogldll in my FB file and now can run 1200x1600 at perfect landscape settings smoothly with my 128mb 9800pro.

Even over the Pacific Islands online map I can get acceptable framerates!

If I may ask, what driver release are you using with that 4.7 .dll?

And where did you get the file? Where's it go? I have a 9800Pro and an AMD64 3500+ and I would love to get back to Perfect mode at just 1024 x 768 over the water.

Im running 5.3s but using the 4.7 file in my FB folder as well. Get 4.7 driver here: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/wxp-w2k-8-03-040610a-016126c.exe
Once you download it dont just install it ofcoarse, rightclick and open with winrar or another extracting program. scroll down and look for atioglxx.dll and extract only that to your FB main directory.

Yea, I am using the cat 5.3, latest drivers with the 4.7 open gl dll file.

And I have a really good AOC 19" monitor I have been using for the last couple of years that will go to really high resolution, way over the 1200x1600 I am running. If you don't have a good monitor you are really missing the boat. I was wondering why all these poeple with High end 64-bit towers were running lower resolutions than I was, answer: thier monitors would not go any higher! If you are going to spend a ton of cash on a high-end pc and video card and hook it up to a old piece of Krap monitor you will never see it's potential of course. I have been running at 1200x1600 for at least a couple of years now and the sim looks so good at this setting I could never go back.

My 1333mhz AMD with a GF3 ti500 will run PF smoothly at 1200x1600 resolution on a good monitor, so with a good monitor anyone with any newer rig should be running this resolution too.

Until recently I was running this high resolution with "excellent" landscape settings instead of perfect. So the water didn't look as good, big deal, it looked a he11 of a lot better than it did in the original IL2. Now with the 4.7 ogldll installed I can finally run perfect at high-res smoothly.

Once again, thanks to whoever first posted the tip, it was like getting a new video card for nothing! S!

i got almost the same rig as yours and a 19" monitor but playing perfect @1600x1200 with AA and AF enabled is a big nono

You guys have got to be doing something wrong. The 5.3's Have much better IQ and are faster than the 4.7s on my 9800 non pro @ 1152x864 in perfect mode. I use 4x AA and No aniso. I just dont get it.

Im just testing different .dlls It seems as far as quality and gameplay smoothness goes the 5.3s are the winner for me. But I think the Omega 4.12s offered highest FPS. Not that high FPS mean anything if overall gameplay is sacrificed.

I am with Coastie on this one but it will not hurt people to test, some systems are funny about the drivers they like.

Hey guys, my HD too a **** on me not long ago and I did a clean install of everything. I am running the original drivers for my 9800agp. Could I get the same results by doing these things or is for for the pro series only? Also, I only have 512 ram right now. Will it bring my game to a hault by running these settings? Right now I have no problem running the game at all, but I wouldn't mind some better graphics if possible!

@EAGLE - Simply go to www.ati.com (http://www.ati.com) download and install the Catalyst 5.3 drivers.

Don't worry about the putting 4.7 dll's in the FB folder unless ypu know what you're doing.
