A friend who usually shakes his head when I start talking about Forgotten Battles (you know the response) sent me this link. If you want to see some simply fantastic shots of a PBY, check out this website:

Trust me. I already have those, plus two forum members WENT there for me with digital camera's and sent me HUNDREDS of megs of high res images. I have OVER A GIG of referance of the PBY. More then enough to do the job! The problem is that its one hell of a big job. Im in the process of recrouting other artist's to help me convert the PBY work that I have done to FS2004. I can add a lot more detail into FS2004, but without the ability to drop bombs/torps or fire guns and do damage.

From what Oleg said, BoB will have a tool to allow 3rd party modelers to import models into BoB. The PBY Catalina flew during BoB.... Who knows! I will keep all my work open in case it can be used for BoB. I very much hope so since I want not only to shoot things, but be shot at http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

No primeses, be sure!

How about a flying example?

http://www.catalina-pby.nl/

You can make flights with it. It flies from Lelystad airport, in the Netherlands. Click on "Foto's" for some pictures.

I wonder how big the inside really is on those things.

My wife has a dream to retire and become "boat people"--travelling around on the open sea. I was never much into boats.

But just recently, I thought to myself, "Hey, what if I got a big ol' flying boat like an old PBY Cat and we _flew_ around instead of all boating cr@p? Now THAT would be fun." Passed it by my wife and she seemed receptive as well.

I had a PBY model as a kid, too. Nice lookin bird.

Google "Princess des Etoiles" I don't know how much info on her is out there but this is a civilian conversion and by all accounts is quite nice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Nice way to travel. Didn't Jimmy Buffet crash his amphibian a few years back? A Goose or something. Be nice to have money to do that. Fly, not crash.....

Thanks, Dubbo! There really isn't much info out there--only two pages of links and most of them are for flight sim add-ons for FS2002 and 2004. The only link I found that had a history was: http://www.warbirdregistry.org/pbyregistry/pby-rcaf9767.html

I was hoping to find some interior shots and a little more about the plane.

Then, I just have to learn how to fly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
