Dont tell me that the swastikas are banned from medals as well as the aircraft markings! This sort of political correctness gone mad started in the late 70s /early 80s when model kit decals were censored. Its just stupid. Why not censor the Stalin's red star or Napoleon's or Caesar's eagle.Exposure to the dreaded symbol didnt turn all us 70s kids into genocidal maniacs...

Yes and those old farts are still rulling the world so we have no choice. Interesting thing is that every man on this planet could find a symbol that offends him, but only some are banned. It makes sense though, if you ban 6.000.000.000 symbols there wouldn't be many left http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
I suppose in year 2345. swastika will be allowed to be mentioned in history again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
EDIT: BTW somebody should raise a law suit against Nazis for violating authors rights, as swastika originally has nothing to do with Nacism and is a rip-off of other cultures

Relax fellas

It's not "the world" and one particular country's laws can muck up the whole shebang. It's illegal to display the swastika under most circumstances in Germany is my understanding, and Ubi's not about to pay money out in lawsuits or lose a whole market country's share

It's easy to get a new medals pack. Hell it's easy to make new medals if you've got the pluck of a weevil in a biscuit

As far as swastikas on the planes go, they sure are there in the sim; they have been turned off as a default

There are numerous programs that re-enable the swastikas on planes

i think the swastika makes a plane butt ugly, as far as realism, i dont care if the rest of the skin is accurate, i dont need a swastika on my tail...

Why not censor the Stalin's red star
Censoring the Red Star military insignia would be like censoring the Black or Iron Cross on aircraft models.

The Soviet's Hammer-n-Sickle political symbol would be more an equivalent to the Swastika political symbol. We would never need to censor Hammers-n-Sickles from Soviet aircraft tails as they didn't have any.

Swastika was banned in GErmany after 1945 of course, in order to stop the Nazi's becoming popular again.

I dont think its banned anywhere else.

You cant blame Germany for banning hte symbol, its a part of their past that they dont want to resurface. The Swastika is the symbol of the party which caused possibly the greatest attrocities in the 20th century.

I would like to mention to those that do not know it, that the swastika is an ancient religious symbol used in the orient for milennia. It represents harmony. It was not invented by the Nazi party or anything like that. It was adopted ("stolen") by Hitler and it's acolytes to give their regime a particular status: one of an harmonious regime rulling over an harmonious nation.

The misuse of the symbol by those monsters should not signify it's international banishing by any means. Oriental religions have been using it for many, many centuries and in these oriental countries there is no political connection like there is in the european countries. To ban such a symbol internationally would deny the true meaning of the symbol and would work against it's real significance.

Not only oriental cultures. Celts and even american natives know them as sun symbols since... ever. It used to be a positive symbol till Adolf, Himmler and Goebbels kidnapped it. Poor svastika...
