Hello!

I'm not posting pics this time, but in September, the flooding on the river was sufficient to trap us on this hill where we live. Well, the Winter rains have flooded the river once again, to only one foot below where it rose to the last time. We knew that this was coming, went out and stocked up on groceries, and nearby Gallipolis was overrun by folks out doing the same.

I can't remember the river getting so much water twice in such a short period. I have lived here off and on my entire life. Hopefully, those in lower lying areas were prepared this time, but once again, there is going to be alot of damage.

So, please remember the residents of the Ohio River Valley in your prayers, if you are the praying type. Next to the tsunami, this is nothing, I know, but there were a few deaths the last time, and I truly pray that this is not the case this time around.

Thanks,
Tsisqua

Ah, thought so. I live in North Carolina and have had to interact with the eastern band on a few occasions as well as some of the other tribes in the state.

Good luck and stay safe!

As of last night the City was isolated and you could not get into it, and this has a major motorway network (Freeway)(

Yes they are, got off the phone earlier on.. The Main Police Station has been evacuated as its flooded and they are operating from Marks and Spencers.. so is the main City Fire Station..

A 63-year-old man was crushed after a barn collapsed on his caravan in Cumbria, and two elderly women died in flooded properties in Carlisle. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

This is the Council Headquaters next to the police station and is called the Civic Center

Man TT, I hate to hear that and hope your mom n sis are safe and sound. Tsisqua, not to make light of your situation but along with them groceries I hope you got gas and extra plugs for the old generator. Days can get long on hill surronded by water without AEP/PF

I just had to call the wife and girl and tell them to get home from sewing at mum in laws as flashfloods announced in Gila and Pinal counties and headed towards Yavapi and Maricopa right now.

Nope. No generator here. We still have electric at the moment, and hopefully we won't lose it, but if we do . . . oh well. The important thing is that we have heat, and food. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Hope everyone gets home safe at your place as well, Udidtoo.

Good, My Mum And family are doing well, I hope the same goes for you both too.......... Me as long as I have some beer in I will survive, The pet hamster can get on his wheel to power my PC................ I learnt that trick from the UBISOFT help line, their hamster powers not only the PC and printer, but the shredder too, so when he feels cold he gets on his wheel and runs, the incoming emails with problems then prints out and fall directly into the UBI shredder that feeds directly into his cage for bedding........................... u didnt really think someone at UBI read them did you?

Where are you again tsisqua?

I'm down-stream in Louisville. They say the river will crest sometime tuesday evening, so I expect Ohio will see the crest tues. morning, but could be wrong.

I think they're calling it at 5ft above current.

Badaboom, your words are appreciated.

Bullshark! Good to see ya, and I hope that P-Cola is recovering well. We still have some fishing to do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif And, yes, if I lose power, I'll report in ASAP , , , LOL

Baldie, I live at the meeting place of the Ohio and Kanawa rivers. Point Pleasant is on the other side of he river, if you happen to remember a movie about our famous "Mothman".

The river is on its way down now, but no school or work tomorrow for me, the wife, and kids. I hope to be able to leave here by tomorrow night. I'll get to see how bad things are then away from my little island here http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

May your river get well soon tsisqua. After the Christmas BuGG you all got, now this too. I guess you could say you are lucky or Blessed your disasters come one at a time. How are the kids handling it?

I saw the thread title, "okay", then saw the tsisqua author, and I thought the worst oh no http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Yeah, Lexx . . . sigh! Its me again!

The river itself is the least of our worries at the moment. Our tap water is now pretty black. We have about a gallon of good drinking water, and there is some milk and juice in the fridge, but I sure hope that we can get out before it is all gone.

The kids are just happy that they won't have to go to school tomorrow. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

If it rains, can you catch rain if you must?

Ya, I figured the kids would enjoy the no-school Option. I was wondering if they were finding fun in the disaster, if there is no immediate danger, but then I thought they had seen this recently and outgrew it. My first hurricane was when I was a little squish, and as soon as we could me and sister went out to play on the toppled trees at the edge of the woods.

Hang in there, bro, looks like the river is going down now... Just look at it as an extra day's vacation with the family.

****, that makes me wonder if the river here is going to crest this year. they're talking of moving but if the river rises, all bets are off.

In other words, things might get interesting here too.

Tsisqua, S!
Keep your powder dry!
I live a little further downriver from you and Baldie, in Evansville,IN. Thankfully we have not had as severe a mess as uyou folks upriver.we aren't expected to get a crest until Thursday or Friday. Hopefully you will be able to get far sooner than that. Between the flooding & the Christmas bug, i would check all of my pennies. You must have picked up a bad one.

Rain supposed to start tonight, or early in the morning, and not stop for awhile. Heavy the first day . . . sigh!

I managed to get out a bit today, but we may be in the same boat (no pun intended) again.

Thanks for the sentiments, and I hope that it doesn't get anyone else down the river.

Stay dry, and DON'T drive into any water. A lady got washed (safely) into our driveway, car and all. I do not know how she made it as far as she did. Someone must have given her a good penny.

Wow, this is the year of flooding apparently. Last week, my rain gauge registered 7 inches of rain in 48 hours time. That's the most I've ever seen. Fortunately there was no major flooding around here.

TonyT... amazing pics, I had no idea there was such serious flooding going on there. Keep safe guys!

Glad to hear you got out for a little bit bro and good to hear all is still relatively well. I thought about you when I heard we have more rain coming, so I hope you're stocked up just in case.

Nah, the book is pretty much useless. What we thought was Army Air Forces should have read Army & Air Force, it's a Tech Manual for some piece of equipment used by both branches. Oh well, least I'm only out 2 bucks...
