I got a P4 1.7GHz cpu. If I wanna run the game with very good but not perfect settings decent frame rate, and that will work with the upcoming patch, which video card should I get? I don't want to spend more than 125 bucks for it.

thanks

now I have a gforce 4600ti 128mb 4x agp 1.7ghz Amd 1gbt ram.
and I get low FPS on Exellant settings. Horrid on Perfect.

I am using the Custom Set up. The game runs like crap if i dont use Custom Set up.

For me there's only one , nVidia FX 5900 Ultra 256M. Of course , ATI is at least as good as this one , but , hey , I'm a nVidia fanboy.

I have both and I use the ATI 9800 pro instead of the 5900 .
I have to say the the ATI video card is better IMHO.

I am using a 3 gig intel chip with a 800 fsb..

And like the other poster said save you money and upgrade you processor , it will help you more now..

Radeon Cards are for FB beter as I have seen on some LAN meets with up to 40 Fb pilots on the game. and The Radeon cards gave beter framerates and beter picture quality.
All the gents I know have mostly Radeons from 9000 range to the 9800pro range and must say they work without troubles.
I use 9500radeon and works great on my second pc I have a gforce card which doesn,t give the same picture pleasure as the radeon. Buy a radeon card is my advise!!!
SALUTATIONS!!!

I have P4, 2.4ghz and a geforce4 ti-4200 128mb and don't have any problems. Can get FPS well into the seventies looking at the sky. Everything is custom settings and I finally have the perfect balance between performance and appearance. The best video cards out there right now are well above $100.

I think a Ti 4200 is the best card for the sort of money you can spend.
It's the fastest card you can get for $125.
You'll have to forget AA though, at least more than 2AA..
This card seems to work best with high resolutions instead.

I have an Athlon 1800, 512DDR2700 RAM, and a Radeon 8500 64MB and my game runs very well at 1600x1200 except in city areas but I don't think that is a video card issue. No AA or AF though. The 8500 is a little old, I would find the 9000 series equivalent which would probably be a little better and 128MB. You should be able to find this for $125 or less easily. I'll be upgrading to the 9700-pro at the next computer show. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Seventy fps looking at the sky.... heck, I'm running a PIII450 256meg and a Voodoo 4500 32 meg, and I get that 70 to 80 fps looking at the sky. I'm running at 800x600 with excellent on object settings, all others low or med. I average about 30 in multiplayer. Jacking the other settings up don't make that much of a difference in visual quality IMHO.

You guys don't need those 3.0ghz P4s.... send them to me and I'll fix 'em for you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

What are your graphic settings in game? That rig should run excellent settings very well under OpenGL.

I have Athlon XP1900, 4400ti 128mb (Oc'ed to 4600 rate), 512M ram on win98se - and have good frames (30-40, in pit during action) with 1024x768x32 and Quincunx FSAA, all settings Excellent or High. 1600x1200x32 and no FSAA looks better and also gives ~35 frames - but chokes a bit in a busy campaign or over cities.

Best video card in term of performance definiatly 5900 UlTRA or 9800 PRO. (9800 PRO gets my vote http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)

Best bang for the buck easily 9500 PRO. 2-3 times the performance of a ti-4200 for roughly the same price.

Get a GF4 Ti4200 128mb off of newegg.com for about $120. I have a Ti4600 and it runs the game great at 1024x768x32, excellent settings, and 4xAA. The Ti4200 should do the same even though it's a lil slower.

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ T-Bred B
Epox 8K9AI
PC2100 512MB DDR
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB

I just got A 9500Pro128... it works good.. the 9600 is good too. I wouldnt go lower than a 9200Pro128 if you can. I upgraded from a 9000Pro128.... now much better. I am running an XP1600 on 1GDDRPC2100.... I just got it back up so I havent had the chance to tweak it but at first glance it looks very nice.

Get an nVidia card, they're more solid. I never liked ATI because their cards are mostly better at DX. When Doom3 comes out and uses OpenGL, you'll want an nVidia card.

I've owned the GeForce2MX 64MB card, and while very nice, it is older by todays standards. You should be able to buy a new one for under $50 online.

I've got a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB card now, and have zero complaints. Running on my AMD XP2000+, with 416MB ram, I easily get 60fps in the QMB in most planes, running at excellent settings (EXCEPT:no stencil buffer & clouds at medium) 1280x960x32 resolution, 2x AF and no AA. It sometimes drops to 35-40fps if I am looking closely at forests. Very smooth, and it should be possible to find a 4200 around your price point.

The 9500 is NOT 2-3 times faster than a GF4TI420 :P

It is however a good card but I dont think u will find one for sale any more.

The 9600 is the new '9500' model' but its not quite as fast.
Still good tho.

Either get a GF FX 5600 or a Radeon 9600 as they are both exactly the price u are stating u wanna spend.

U wont afford a 9700 or 9800 for that amount unless u wanna go second hand.
