in 46 there is the flyable Ar 234 B-2 right. I was just wondering if that one has the two cannons like the later versions of the plane.

In RL the cannons were troublesome, and often removed from the few so equiped.

Those were the backward firing ones, right?

It will have rear firing guns, as well as (probably) the removeable gun pod with pair of MG-151/20 forward firing guns.

We've returned from an unusually quiet E3, and here are some photos. Oleg flaunted his newly announced Storm of War: Battle of Britain to select journalists behind closed doors, and I gave a few lucky players a chance to fly some of the new planes from the Sturmoviks over Manchuria and 46. The new jets are opening unexpected new possibilities, and a few more surprises to be revealed in the coming weeks were met with a unison of wows from everyone who saw them. Can you say X-4? Screenshots to come in my next updates.

this makes a flyable ta183 more likely i think (and hope!) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Well, according to This Link (http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/arm/arm29.htm) posted in a thread earlier in the week about it, it had an acoustic proximty fuse tuned to the sound of B-17 engines. So like that, no it wouldn't be much use against fighters.

Won't be no sidewinder, whatever.

ah interesting thanks for the link. i wonder how they will implement it in the game. i doubt it will be only effective against one aircraft type (ingame) though.

Wire guided by a guy who is also flying another aircaft in combat too (so he's flying two aircraft now) so probably not too much of a threat against a fighter. I wonder how this will be modelled, if it is going to be. Map your HAT switch to X-4 guidance?

Bad news if unharassed against a bomber though, especially from a head-on or tail on aspect. By and large operator guided missiles like Javelin, Blowpipe and Rapier, are less effective against crossing targets.

Well, the belly pack will be useful, but I believe the forward firing guns were only fitted on those Ar-234Bs which were fitted to be night fighters? And had a big heavy radar set, and a radar operator in the back of the fuselage, so having the belly pack without the radar would be odd to me.

Also, I wonder if the rear firing 20mm will be a loadout option rather than a fixed feature of the aircraft? As they were often removed due to their ineffectiveness. If they can be removed, it will reduce the weight of the aircraft, making it faster. If that isn't planned to be modelled, then it's not a problem.

And I'm very intrigued to see what this X-4 is gonna be! A Ta-183 armed with interceptor missles? "Wow" is definately the thing to say if that is the case!!

i know some 234 B's were fitted with cannons near the Messerschmitt factory for night fighter experiments. But i hope they make the Cannons ingame. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif
