Seems like it's just a prettier MW1 with a few extras, only hyped up to the gazillionth power.

I'm just looking forward to kicking some arse with my mates on multiplayer. Also I loved the game play of the first one. Still, ACII will kick MW2 in the groin with it's awesomeness.

It's not difficult to figure out.

The game does a lot right. There's nothing more to it.
No need to fix what isn't broken.

AC II is the same game, twice, but improved. MW2 is the same game, twice, but improved.

caswallawn_2k7

MW2 has killed it self on PC, they broke the "if it aint broke don't fix it rule", they removed dedicated servers meaning one player is always going to have an advantage over the rest of the players and the options for multiplayer games will be drastically cut as you cant customise peer to peer games as much as a dedicated server.

that is before taking into account the removal of the massive replay ability by removing all modding and map making tools stopping any hope for custom content.

Good game avoiding the question. If you don't want to answer it, just don't reply. No need to get defensive without arguments to back up your side. You'll just make yourself look like an ***.

And about that statement. All I was referring to is I've seen more innovation from ACII than I have from MWII. Hence the frase "If MWII brings as much innovation as ACII does". Never did I say ACII is the peak of innovation.

Should I go through this? Is it worth it? Are you worth the effort?

The answer is "no" to all three, but I'll do it in any case, since it'll make me "look like" an even bigger asterisk^3.

When one avoids giving a straight answer, it's left up to you to discern why, and not to moan and whine about it. An ounce of logic would have led you to the fact that you're stating or asking something stupid or obvious.

Should I leave the rest up to you? Or should I hold your hand for a bit longer?
I should, and I shouldn't, but I won't, and I will.

Regardless of whether you put AC2 as the "peak of innovation", and the fact that you used "brings as much innovation", shows how shallow your thinking was before you posted that.
It's obviously a comparison between the two, but what sort of comparison is that?
AC2 hasn't showed any "innovation", which means that MW2 has very little to beat.
That's not saying that it's innovating, either, but it's saying that it's a completely stupid comparison.

When people avoid answering you directly, take the hint and put your thinking cap on.

Oh, and, just so that you know, watching you come up with retort after retort amuses me. I can go on forever, since every reply of yours will be ever the more exciting. Of course, you could always be "the bigger man" and ignore me; though, I'm not capable of such a thing.

You see, I'm a child.

That makes two of us then.

And I don't see how asking why everyone is so hyped up about a game that looks exactly like its predecessor to me, is in any way stupid or obvious.

By the degree of hostility this question is received, I'm inclined to believe some fanboyism is involved though, and if lurking on the internet has tought me anything, it's that there's no way discussing with a fanboy is gonna lead to anything. All I wanted to know is what makes MWII different from MWI and the only replies I get either have nothing to do with the question or state no other reason than "people like it, so it's better". Like I said before, if you can't answer a normal question in a normal manner, simply don't reply to it. No one's forcing you to.

When I said innovation, I meant new features btw, not an entirely new concept. There's different ways of innovation. Just because you interpret my words one way, doesn't give you the right to put words in my mouth.

The discerning tone is also quite sad coming from a person that can't finish a paragraph without using at least one insult.

And "looking like an ***" is simply a manner of speaking. Didn't mean it as an insult.
The hostility started way before that btw.

All I wanted to know is what makes MWII different from MWI

I don't think an Assassins Creed forum is the best place to be asking that question, a MW2 forum would be. And, from what I've read, the only real changes are in it's multiplayer. Innovation isn't difference to other things, it's creative thinking that comes up with better ways of doing things. If you want to know about innovation, I suggest talking to an engineer. MW2 and AC2 are still, at heart, the same as thier previous games, therefore, there is not much innovation included in either of them.

But it's not, and it doesn't have to be. They don't care if it looks exactly like it's predecessor, in fact they're glad it does because they liked its predecessor. It's really that simple.
"people like it, so it's better". LoL, for someone who doesn't like having words put in his mouth...

I never said that makes it better. I said people like it, period (I even said period, too, making it clear that there was nothing more to the statement). For someone who understands that fanboys can't be argued or reasoned with, you don't seem to understand that fanboys don't need a reason to like Modern Warfare 2. They don't care if it's a complete rehash, they just like it.

And I don't see how asking why everyone is so hyped up about a game that looks exactly like its predecessor to me, is in any way stupid or obvious.

As much as I hate pulling out the opinion-brand, there's nothing else to do in this case.

Now, I'm going to be this "nice" thing the world is so fond of, and completely ignore all the gobbledy**** about fanboyism and whatnot, since it's all irrelevant and beside the point.
Let's put it in terms you might understand:

What makes AC2 appear better than its predecessor?
More features.
What makes MW2 appear better than its predecessor?
More features.

I swear, every time I read over that it just gets simpler and simpler.

Putting words in your mouth? Everyone, be seated! English 101!
You said, "If MWII brings as much innovation as ACII does then please show me how."
You're comparing a title to a title, which must mean that you mean "innovation" in a broader and more general sense.
Had you wished it to be specific to what a title does in its series, you would have specified it and not left it floating about in limbo for anyone to guess at.

You type a general sentence, expect a general understanding.

I think you guys are being a little harsh on El_Sjietah.

You all knew what he was trying to say, but decided to mug him instead.

(Edit: )
But Scythe is right - the reason fans of COD are excited about MW2 is because they enjoyed the first game, and are hoping to recapture and prolong the experience within refined gameplay, and a fresher setting. The same as AC fans expecting AC2.

Roughly the same time as the first one, modern times. The first one was awsome, but i need to conserve my money to shell out the rest of the $150 for the Black Edition. When i can afford another game, it'll be Brutal Legend, MW2 or Uncharted 2.

There's a modding drought at the moment. In fact, this is the longest I've seen such threads live.
They usually don't stay for more than an hour, and a lot of the time disappear within minutes.

Does any one here play THE GAME!!!!!

If not here are the rules you can not think about the game, talk about the game, you can't even dream about the game if you do you lose. No one can win the game because then they would be thinking about it and automatically lose the game. If for some reason you think about the game whilst on these forums you must post it here ex. I losteeee the gaaaaameeee, ooooo noooosss!!!! Then everyone must in turn acknowledge they lost the game giving way to a chorus of "DAMN YOU WHY DID U MAKE ME LOSE THE GAME!!!!". picked up modern warfare 2 saturday (legally)

ill fix my gamertag thing i my sig so u can see i played it =P. and i gotta say, overall, im not that impressed...the story was okay. sans spoilers, COD has always had you play multiple nationalities. the one story line is pretty decent, and the ending was cool, but the other story just kind of seemed jammed in. they didnt explain what was going on very well, it just kind of randomly dropped you in a new area without telling you how or why you ended up there. as for spec ops. i havent had a chance to play with a friend yet, but solo its...okay. multiplayer adds a few cool new things (yay for host migration) at least in the console version, but the number and variety of weapons is underwhelming. there are less weapons than in MW1, but more (albeit sometimes redundant, do i really need two kinds of red dot sights?) attachments. the maps are...okay. no party chat is a bust as well. i get that it prevents cheating but the only mode where it matters is S&D because thats the only one where you arent supposed to communicate when you are dead.

dont get me wrong. i loved the first MW. i earned my gold cross and then continued to play, amassing over 40 days worth of in game time. but when all is said and done, MW2 doesnt have the same impact as the first game, and im just left wanting. i actually considered popping COD4 back in, which is terrible when you consider i have owned the sequel for hardly more than 24hrs

MW2 seems really rushed, as you have said they have made the game worse than the one that came before but also for the PC they have removed everything that makes PC multiplayer better than consoles. (yet they wanted to use MW2 to raise prices across the consoles and PC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif )

But anyway, you should've been here earlier.

He was this kid who kept coming back under increasingly ridiculous alternate usernames. He started out as the typical noob under the username almagam, made useless threads, derailed topics, I think he even revived a few ancient threads. The mods gave him his fair share of warnings, but he didn't listen. So they suspended him for like a week. He ended up coming back under the username altermagam and tried to convince us that he wasn't the previously suspended almagam.

Amazingly, despite having circumvented a suspension and coming back with another account, he didn't get the ban hammer. His behavior somewhat improved over time, until he started coming into the BUWYWL and retelling stories like Star Wars except with all our usernames. People unanimously agreed that it was kind of annoying (except Cas, he loved the attention), and eventually it ended with another warning and suspension. Yet again, he came back under an increasingly ridiculous yet obvious username of alteralmagam, and, I think, tried to convince us that he was someone else.

Amazingly, he still didn't get banned, and people eventually started to get used to him a little, sort of, kind of. I almost thought he'd someday turn into a quality poster, but then he did something silly and got a ban.

Mark my words, he will someday rise from the grave as alteralmamammogram and come back to haunt us.

ScytheOfGrim
11-09-2009, 09:03 AM
His second username was something else, different from the magam-series.
His third as well, I believe.

He lost those two accounts quickly, then disappeared for a while. He then returned under the name of alteremagam.
Somehow, he managed to survive with that account.

Well, had I said "displacement", you would have the right to ask, since it's a vector quantity and has direction.
But I clearly said "distance", which is a scalar quantity, and therefore has no direction, meaning it is positive at all times.

Post distance, direction regardless.

It was a rhetorical assertion, you didn’t have to answer. In fact, how dare you think I would seek your approval or forgiveness on any subject?

ScytheOfGrim

You're in no position to decide whether something you say is rhetorical or not. As long as you are saying something in front of me, you have no right to decide your meaning.
You are not to put words into your mouth, acting as if it's your choice to do so, let alone believing that it's your choice to do so. You have no say in the matter of what you say, simply because you are saying it.

Now that we've gotten that over with, I'll give you a second chance to pick a card or play that green Don't Play you've been trying so hard to hide from me.

Just because I gave you a second chance to do something doesn't mean that I am actually letting you do anything.
I only gave you the chance to do something so that I could revoke your right to complain about anything.

And I noticed that you missed out three "I"'s when you italicized.

And, now that I've gone over all of that, I am going to give you the choice not to choose, and I am going to demand that you take that choice and change the stupid colour from yellow to blue.

I'm an amateur actor, so getting experience in animated voice acting would be good for me. Not confident on an american accent though, but I'll give it a go.

EDIT: after giving it a go on my video camera a few times, I think the accent is getting better. I think I still sound obviously like a Brit impersonating the accent, so I'm not at Hugh Laurie level yet, and it is tremendously late. Do you have a deadline it needs to be done by? Because I'm not sure if i can get it done tomorrow, and I feel I need more practice, so if I had a goal to work towards I could get my butt in gear.

Dunno why, but I am just not interested in it at all compared to the first one... I had it on pre-order but then withdrew all my money on it.

Reason? They said single-player campaign is only twelve hours long, and seeing how I'm not a multi-player person in any way, shape, or form... Sixty bucks for one day's worth of entertainment is not worth it when so many other games these days like Dragon Age promise forty hours at the very minimum.

CoD is turning out exactly like Halo. As soon as they learn they've got a multi-player gold mine on their hands, all focus on single player is abandoned. No thank you.

In a study about boys and girls among kindergarten classes where all students were asked to complete a task but weren't told how to do so, 80% of boys used physical means (for example, stacking things on chairs to reach a shelf), whereas most girls used "diplomatic" means (tugging on a teacher's dress and asking her to reach for it).

This is why the game industry is saturated head to toe with games that focus on action (whether that's headshots or running on walls), and it's also why "girl gamers" are such a sacred icon of games and will continue to be so long as the majority of games focus on action and as such focus on boys.

So, that may be an earful, but you should shove it down their ears anyway. They'll stop thinking you're crazy soon afterwords. Maybe instead of saying it to them, you should just facepalm them. Just got MW2 and just finished the airport level, so far it's looking pretty good and the airport level was... daring, on IW's part. But you can't say you havn't been warned; they have a pretty clear warning when you first enter the game that there will be a level that's a bit "disturbing" and you have an option to skip that mission if you want. If the airport mission wasn't the "disturbing" one, I'd like to see what is...

Can't resume playing it right now, uploading about 30 pics which is taking forever. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

First: Why would you burn your arm? O_o

Second: Ehr.. I've got a class called "General language" where we learn about where different languages origin from and so forth, and instead of having to write a wall of text, I found something that (as I recall) seemed to answer you question quite well: http://malaysia.answers.yahoo....0080206205251AAWC9Sg (http://malaysia.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080206205251AAWC9Sg)

i liked the airport level in MW2. going in i was like w/e about all the hoopla thats been said about it. so i started playing and it was like what ever. then i realized what i was really doing, and i actually felt remorse, the first time that has ever happened from a video game... and i kept thinking ok this is the last part, so ill just do what they say, but it kept going. there is a sick sort of relish in it. you know its wrong but you cant stop, and never once did i think "don't worry its only a game."

on a side note i got one kill away from a nuke, and then got totally ****ed out of the 25th kill. i think the game actively tried to prevent me from getting it

Exactly, can't wait to hear the criticism for it. Heck, it might even end up on the news (all the "videogames inspire school massacres" drama). But they can't complain Infinity Ward didn't warn us.

would it matter? you know the complete ball's up the American's make of the English accent return the favour. also Hugh Laurie still sounds British he just doesn't use the over the top accents he used in black adder.

Now, I have a question for all of you, will you please help me solve this secret site's name? (/URL) ?

It contains of 26 symbols, excluding the 'www.' and exit (eg: .com)

this is what I can't figure out:

_id_e__ema__ini.e_il_enid_

The underscores are 'blank' spots, I don't know that symbol yet. Also, every a,d,e,i,l,m and n are already given, and don't appear on another place.

I think it's Italian?
It is a secret URL for Assassins Creed 2. It's only for Holland, and I could win a PS3+AC2 black edition, or AC2, or DLC. Or some other goodie's http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Finished MW2, story was pretty epic. Although you'll have to play COD4 to be able to get half of it.
Gameplay was average, I didn't like how they put tracer smoke on grenades (seriously, who does that?) and the removal of peeking. And I don't see how dual wielding Uzis or Desert Eagles is useful at all.
Apart from ^that^, game was pretty good.

hmm... I have to say I'm slightly dissapointed with what I have heard about MW2. with the whole online problem and how some guys have beat the game in less than four hours. and how the story is a letdown, that just seems kind of lame.

but the real reason I posted was because I just went back to check up on the I Am Alive forums, which I haven't done for a long time and this one guy has a crazy idea that I Am Alive and AC2 are actually the same game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

But it won't let me forget about AC2. I think I might drop everything next Tuesday just to play it. That'll take a lot of guts, though. We'll see what I choose to do. >_>
