This survey was carried out by Valve for the Counter Strike Source players, but i thought it was interesting to see what types of system there are out there at the minute. makes me feel better about mine, its not aging as rapidly as i thoughthttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm surprised at how many people out there are chugging along with under-powered systems. I guess that a lot of people buy with price as the biggest factor, so vendors who cut things like RAM and good graphics and sound sell a lot of systems.

my system:

Asus A8N Deluxe SLi
AMD 64 Dual Core 4200+
1 Gig Ram
Audigy 4 Soundblaster
Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX
200 Gig Hard drive

The real sticking point is my monitor, i'm going to upgrade it soon to something better, i'm not going to put it down because its just a rubbish CRT.

That's the problem, folks looks at the "Minimum System Requirements". They don't take into consideration that the recommended harware/software is listed in order to run the bare minimum settings to just play the game.

I really think that on the box of PC Software it should list not only the minimum system requirements, but also list the recommended hardware/software to run the game with all the bells and whistles turned up and on. Hell, if not on the box, then at least list them on the game's Official Websites or PC gaming magazines.

I agree A.
It is annoying that they are not upfront in what is actually required.
I have 2 PCs. There was no point selling the 32 bit 2700, 1.5GB DDR400 9800SE (OCed hugely)
It runs SH3 decently but when the other is a 3500, 2GB DDR400, Asus A8N-SLI Mobo, X800GTO OCed, SB 2Z w 5.1 speakers (still don't see 7.1 yet) well, life is better on 64bit.
If I had what the box says it would stutter at 2xTC http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
