This is not whineing! I don't have anything to whine about.
Just saying facts:
I tought to test the I-16 and, so I started in QMB 1 I-16 vs 2 Mig 3 1940.
Here's the buba: I took a good shot on a mig , by diving from above, and having arcade mode on, I got the little yellow warning "Headshot", but no "Pilot Kill" bubble. I swiched on a n external and took a look at the Mig.
There was one arrow that went trough a side of the canopy, and passed trough the pilot's head. I looked again and noticed that there wasn't any armour, or anything that could stop the bullet.
So I wonder the pilot's helmet was armoured or something??

landing is one after which they can use the plane again<center>

Being shot in the head isn't always fatal I guess. Just like real life - probably seriously wounded.

Yea maybe it just "scratched" you, or hit an ear or something. That's actually pretty cool if you think about it.

That arrow went trough the middle of his head!! Had to be fata, or atleast heavily wounded and die sooner, but I stopped fireing, swiched the lever stabilizer, and watched him rbt-ing and landing... funny He never comed bach to attack me, nut I also didn't see any Bailin'out or RTB-ing bubble..., he simply turned his plane and landed later. Another funny thing he was still moving his head, so he wasn't dead..../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Yeah... you just changed his personality. If it was though the frontal lobe. It probably just made him more docile ; Easier to control while out in public.

how do you have arrows come up to show where the bullet went?

It went thru one ear and out the other, bypassing all grey matter /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

What exactly is arcade mode?

XyZspineZyX

Arcade mode would be with all the realism settings turned completley off.
All those little red lights would be off, im guessing.

The arrow only shows the trajectory of the bullet, not the possible deflections/ricochets from armor that could have happened.

I hate it when that happens!

Meanwhile I can get killed by one lousy arrow penetrating my shoe.

Nope. That is another type of arcade... what is being referenced here is the "Arcade=1" setting under the "[game]" heading in the conf.ini file. Set it to 1 and you get tracking of bullet trajectories and cartoon bubbles (hence the arcade bubbles) explaining what type of damage/situation has transpired. Set it to 0 and it's back to normal. Only works offline though.

Visual and actual DM are different, that arrow doesn't mean a thing.

I wish Olegg hadn`t put in that dumb arrow thing in the first place! People just come along play in that mode, then whine (not you, Von_Zero, but it opens up to this).
The point is to play properly and see how it works in the Campaign or online.
Also I think this arrow in head thing has been done to reduce the frequency of Instant death headshots.
