Just wondered, when submerged, do the crew man the periscopes?

If the periscope is raised then you will receive updated contact information automatically (if you are not on full realism).

I don't believe the crew raises the periscope periodically to check surroundings when at periscope depth.

Happy hunting!

Thanks, so on fully real you wont get "ship spotted" yelled from the crew when you have the scope up?

When a ship is in visual range, you are submerged, and your looking at the map. If your scope is up you will see the ship symbol of ships within visual range. If it is down and sonar is on it you will just see a line in the general direction of the ship. So evidently someone is keeping an eye out when your scope is up.

sorry, not quite clear on that one. If you are on full realism, with your scope up, is there someone on watch if you are on the map? because u get no contact information. does someone cry out "ship sighted"?

So far, I've not had any visual report while submerged, even with periscope up. I play at 96% realism (have help to get fire solutions). So I asume kaleun is the one and only can man a scope.
