Hello, I have il-2,aep,pf with the patched thru 4.01. i just got done re-installing the game again and patched it back up. I when to run it and the frame rate is bad....even when i am in the main menu my mouse cursor lags.
I have amd-3200+ , 32 bit
nvidia 5700 ultra
1.50 gigs DDR333 ram
450 watt power-supply
I did not have the problem before with my 5200 ultra card in before. I do have a fresh install of xp with SP2 and have all the lastest up dates on the whole computer.
What could be the problem on why the game will not run smooth with a fresh install of xp sp2 and updated card from 5200 to 5700 ultra.

What drivers are you using for your Gfx card? Try using 66.93 or 71.20 Nvidia drivers.
Post some more info on the setting you are using for your Gfx card and the settings you have in PF.

I had the unique experience of doing a full, fresh reinstall of Il2, Il2+FB, Il2+FB+AEP, IL2+FB+AEP+PF, and finall IL2+FB+AEP+PF.

Going between IL2+FB+AEP and Il2+FB+AEP+PF, I experienced a very substantial drop off in performance (all with in about two days of testing). I got a pretty beefy system with every possible driver up to date (mobo, video card, sound card, bios, etc..). PF 4.01 - performance dropped even more. With the new water, cloud types, flight model, etc.., I just believe that's how the game is and not a product of one's system. In order to achieve frame rates in PF comparable to what I had before i installed PF, I had to tweak varoius settings on the card itself under the OpenGL tab, scale back some ingame video options, and play with the old clouds and water set to 0. I still achieve good eye candy but at least now, I'm back to frames in the mid 40s and my trackIR pans smooth again. PF 4.01 is just a big resource hog.

Thank you, I did go in and turn down the settings. I have them on medium and then turned off computer and restarted it again.

I still have the cursor lagging in the main menu area. I did not have this problem
with my our computer which is s 64-bit system
and still had to do a fresh re-install over on that system also. That video card in nice,
a geforce 6800 GT OC..... and the setting for the game can in at excellent and it work out fine. That is where my 5700 ultra card cam from and put that card into my 32-bit system
which had a 5200 ultra card in it......and that ran li-1,aep,pf ok on low settings.

I have an older P4 2.4 with a ATI 9700 non-pro and I play with Perfect settings and new clouds with no stutters (I have turned down the trees in the conf file though).

Start>programs>accessories>System Tools, left click and hold drag the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter onto your desktop.

Do each of them once a day min, especially after installing/uninstalling anything, and after downloading and surfing.

Start>Programs>My Computer, right click on the "local Disk (c)" icon, Properties>Tools>Error Checking>Check Now, click "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors"

It takes a while, and then repeat the process and click the other box because it requires a restart.

Doesn't hurt to do this every install/uninstall/download.

Install Windoxs DirectX 9.0c from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyI...ac197&DisplayLang=en

Instal the Java Runtime from here (select J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE).

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

As said above, regularily use a registry cleaner. I use an older, but free version of JV16 Powertools from here:

http://www.oldversion.com/

Start it up, registry tool>tools>registry cleaner, run

Select>special select>items that should be safe to remove, try to fix, then remove.

I have never, ever, ever had anything weird happen using this utility. Ever.

Microsoft has a good anti-spyware:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyI...A9671&displaylang=en

but you have to back it up with other ones as said above. There's a recent thread on the value of PC PestControl. Maybe check it out too.

Install the Latency tool from here:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=951

set all of the settings to 0 or 64 (some people have better success with 32) and make sure to click save and set on startup, especially for ATI cards.

Install FSAutoStart from here:

http://www.kensalter.com/fsautostart/index.htm

Be sure to install the patch that you can get from the forums (and install both files in the patch into the program folder FSAutoStart).

Follow the comments for shutting things down, although I've found by trial and error that I can't shut down DNS Client and HID Input Device, but you can shut down your browser which will take a big load off your computer. Also, click "restart after terminating".

It's a vunderbar program. I have profiles set up for the 3 games I play and can start each profile through an icon on my desktop.

As suggested above, clean out all the scut from your browser that has accumulated from all the educational sites you have connected to:

Explorer>tools>internet options>, delete cookies, delete files, clear history.

Clean out e-mails. Especially ones with attachments, and delete them from Deleted Items.

Thanks, http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif I will try this out with the search for the drivers 77.30 from my battlefield 2 CD. I will also do some cleaning up of old file, cookies, and stuff like that.

Then I will run my scans and defrag the drive again and let you all know how it when.

I was in a bit of a hurry when I posted above.

For the latency tool, when you install and open it, things will be set at 0 or some other number. If 0, leave as 0. For all of the other ones, set at 64 (or at 32 which works better for some rigs).

I just played the game and even was able to fly and shoot at people on-line. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
got shot down several times http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif but I can live with this for now. Thank you for your replies back to my help.

I will be trying the 77.77 drivers on the amd 3000+ 64-bit system in the next few days and will report on how that goes. right now it flew good over this last weekend with a freind played a mod. Uber Demon games
