Hello,
I've watched the Practices of the He111, I think I know how to configure the ocular, the alt and speed. but every time i switch on Bomb automation it just drops the payload when it won't hit the target, could somebody please help me, step by step or diagrams(preferably B25) I would be very greatful if someone could help me out with this.

thankyou

1. verify your "toggle bombsight automation" key and your "bomb release" key aren't the same.

2. Sounds like you are waiting too long to toggle automation. From the above link, the B25 Manual Bombing Guide lists release angles for different bombs. For example,
500lb bomb, 1000 ft, 67 deg on scope angle
500lb bomb, 5000 ft, 47 deg on scope angle

if you are at 1000 ft and manually track the target till the scope angle is, say, 40 deg, then hit the toggle automation key, the bombs will be released immediatly and will miss. Toggle the key sooner, see what happens.

With the elevation, how do you know what degree to put it to, without having to refer to a chart?

I would recommend the B-25 bombing guide by AWL_Spinner. A very extensive work with printable guide, training video's and specially designed missions to pratice. Avaiable at http://www.airwarfare.com/guides.htm

There's no available guide on that, and really it's the bomb sight's job to decide at exactly what point is perfect. There are zillions of alt, speed, bombload combinations (the degrees on the scope at bomb release will be different at 1000ft, 1010ft, 1020ft, and different again at 180IAS, 190IAS, etc...)

Having said that, using the manual bombsight guide, you now know that you have to lock on the target with the scope set above 67 degrees if you are at 1000ft and 180 IAS. The higher you are, or the faster you are, the lower the scope angle can be before you have flown past the optimum release point.

As posted above, there are guides and practice missions you can use to get a feel for it.

You can also go here,

http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/IL2/il2_essential_files.htm

and download the bombsite table program. Wonderful little utility.

It is listed under Miscellaneous.
