So, what's your favorite aircraft paint scheme. I don't particular mean skin, although the most beautiful, impressive and historic are already "skinned" ofcourse.

I go for the P-51B Mustang "Shangri La" of Don Gentile.

The aircraft just looks damn sexy with it. This skin is one of the best i ever had. I think it is historical somewhat, too.

I think Ruby's Raiders is the epitome of the late-war high-visibility markings and an awesome bit of nose art...

I'm not sure if it was just the Normandie-Niemen who did their yaks this way but the paint scheme with the jagged arrow is way cool.

gotta be the British standard Camo pattern.
the green-gray thing they used after Battle of Britain.

when skinned nicely of course
the default skin for spitfire is nothing special.

berg417448 - that scheme reminds me that various some of the dazzle schemes were inspired by the vorticist art movement, and that I think Penrose (associated with the surrealists and Picasso) became the head of the British camouflage efforts early in WW2.

Some of the German WW1 patterns are quite nice, with all those lozenges (printed onto the cloth I believe). British WW1 schemes were typically boring - brown/green (the actualcolour depended on the doping, concentrations, etc., much as late WW2 German vehicle schemes created many colours with only about 4 basic dyes). The USA and France had some good WW1 schemes too.

Italian skins are the best in my opinion...the camo could perfectly hide the aircraft in the ambient...i dont doubt that many britsh pilots had some kind of dificulty to spot them over north africa sometimes.
