View Full Version : Sticking your head out of the side of the cockpit view?

The one thing this game needs! I mean the only problem I have is when you turn realism all the way up you can't see in front of you on the runway. The flight leader doesn't exactly say "Ok lets go!" Sometimes they call out one or two heading, and altitude coordinates before they go and thats it.
Classically a pilot would just hang his noggin out of the side of the cockpit so he could see to taxi.
It would be nice to be able to turn external views off for full realism, and not have to worry about running into the slowpoke in front of you.

I agree but untill that is implemented (dont hold your breath) one way to avoid taxiing into the poor guy in front is to turn the plane 10 degrees to port or starboard.

Post patch: I've actually observed AI planes turning plane slightly to view runway. I agree with the original poster though. In real life, pilots have multiple aids in helping them taxi safely. P-47 pilots used to have ground crew guys stitting on wing until they were take off position along with radio control tower help. leaning head out the canopy would have been a great touch.

I think SmokeJaguar advice is the best to follow currently. In full real coops, with always turn the aircraft a bit until the pilot in front of you take off and you feel you can take-off safely without ramming him. Apply some throttle and gentle rudder while holding brake will turn your plane slightly.
