View Full Version : An idea to make you not wanna die in this sim

We all know it, colliding in head on attacks, BnZ attacks, enz.
Peolple do not really watch what they are doing, when you die you just hit refly and try again. What about a penalty for colliding and/or being shot down. Whould you go for a head on attack untill you collide if you had to wait 2 or 3 minutes after you die before you can refly again? Might be interesting to give a server this option.

Death kick is enabled on many servers - should be set to 1 IMO with a 50% escape chance & 5 minutes penalty. Then you don't want to die http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Respawn time, like in any fps game (CounterStrike and such) would be much better that death kick. Specially if it enables a external camera.

It'll give you time to watch the action arround you a see what you are missing.

Ah but the idea of deathkick is so that other people can have a chance of getting onto the server. Warclouds is often full.

Co-ops! When you die in those thats it!

Personally I always try to avoid dying. Thats why I love the fastest planes in any planeset, so I can run the hell away!!!!!

Sounds much better then the deathkick to me anyway.. If the kick is set to 5 mins or so, i won`t be playing a quick game or 2... i would die and then get kicked out, and i am not the kind of guy who wants to wait to get in again, only to see that the server is full..

My server controller uses the 'softkick' concept. Basically, whenever we die more than once within the last 10 minutes, we are asked to stay in the mission briefing page without hitting 'Fly' for 2 minutes.

This way, we can continue chatting and talking to our team-mates, and also keep our slot on the server.

However, if we hit 'Fly' anyway, the server will really kick us out within a minute. It is possible to come back immediately, but again, not allowed to fly until the 'pit-stop' penalty time eventually expires.

Once (long time ago) I logged on a full real server with 30minut death kickoff enabled. Very "real" and boring experience, noone was willing to engage unless had 100 advatage.

If that was possible.......

I do not mean a deatch KICK penalty. Just when you die you can watch the action and chat, but do not get a new plane/chance right away. The server can set the times. Just to make us fly more carefull.

Alternatively have spouse stand by and hit you.

Taking into account you probably have max length of name let's say 16 characters, and there are some 200 characters to choose from (that's 200^16 = roughly 6553600000000000000000000000000000000 possible combinations) At the rate some of us are dying online, this would probably be exhausted in a day or two, lol.

This is silly, we never have this problem. If 2 people team up and pick out a single pilot, they already have pretty good advantage and a safe flight.

Moreover, the server controller could have introduced a 1 hour banning of every pilot not taking part in some kind of action at all(by either getting shot down, crash-landing or getting some points)... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Sometimes I think people forget that the co-op is a valid style of online play http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif C'mon people, there are those of us who barely play anything else!

However, the 'make external views enable on death' option is valid, either in co-op or dogfight. It would make flying without externals perfect for gameplay, rather than just 'the best thing to do for realism'.
